I'm a strong A2 in Spanish and just spent a few weeks in Mexico City.
Only one person spoke English to me and he was a doctor. Everyone else spoke Spanish. Even when I didn't understand, they would just continue speaking Spanish more slowly or phrased differently.
Contrast to my experience in Taipei speaking Chinese (I am B2 Chinese roughly), even when I'd speak Chinese at a B2 level maybe 40% of the people would answer in English.
It honestly just removed a lot of the anxiety of needing to understand the first time. It was ok if I didn't understand, because they would repeat it slower and there was never the fear they would switch to English. I loved it.

I'd been trying to prepare kids to drive in the real world via video games (stay on the right side of the road, follow traffic signals, obey speed limit, learn the map, follow the gps, resist the temptations of Burnout Paradise, pretend like I'll make you pay for every scratch and dent, etc.) and the damage system in BeamNG is great for what I'm doing with them. However my laptop struggles a bit with the larger default maps and they don't have quite as much of what I like in City Car Driving or the highway area of Burnout Paradise.
