Yesterday Dr. Annavarpu Ramaswamy was awarded a Padma Shri, honoring his contributions as a maestro violinist in the Carnatic music tradition. We had interviewed him last year (link inside)

Dr. Annavarpu Ramaswamy is 95 years old and has been playing the violin for 91 years now! He is an Indian classical violinist from Andhra Pradesh. He is known for his contributions in the field of Carnatic music. He is noted for inventing new Ragas and Talas such as Vandana Raga, Sri Durga Raga and Tinetradi Tala and Vedadi Tala.
The first issue of Tarang Magazine had the fortune of being able to interview him. Of course enough cannot be said about his legendary status as a musician, but we are extremely thrilled by his award.
