A list of puns related to "Pacification Of Algeria"
Recently discovered that in 2006 Rand republished David Galula's Pacification in Algeria 1956 – 1958. David Galula was a Jewish graduate of the foremost French military academy. Because he was Jewish during the Nazi occupation of France he was tossed out the military and joined the 1er Corps d'Armée which was a small anti-Nazi guerrilla force running out of Corsica and Elba. Directly after WW2 he went to China as part of military intelligence where he worked to prevent the Communist disturbance in China from threatening French interests in French Indochina (most of Southeast Asia). He then was lent out to the UN to assist the United Nations Special Committee on the Balkans in managing the Greek Civil War. For a few years he wasn't involved in counter revolution but then was sent to Indochina to assist with the growing problems he had anticipated.
With a resume like that he was an obvious choice to help the French in suppressing the insurgency in Algeria. He was put in charge of the Kabylie where the successfully crushed the FLN in 2 years and cleaned them out. Pacification in Algeria 1956 – 1958 as a book is a detailed study of how he did it. After Algeria Galula became a military professor which is when he worked for Rand and wrote his 1st book discussed above.
The book was primarily of interest to the Americans at the time in that it contained a lot of information about people who after 1956 went on to be part of Organisation de l’Armee Secrete which was a terrorist organization in France proper which theoretically could have flipped the government. The OAS had strong ties to Fascist (literally not being used as an insult) groups in Europe particularly the Spanish Falangists. So the USA interest at the time in the book was not counterinsurgency but concern about a Fascist coup in France. Galula had limited influence because of the classification though the book started to be heavily used during the Vietnam war.
His followup book written a year later Counterinsurgency Warfare: Theory and Practice addresses the issue of terrain, population density and political ideologies. The later book is designed as a quick overall manual for future conflicts. This was far less detailed abut France and so was not class

Tobias moved to the bunker’s horizontal slit and saw clouds of smoke issuing from positions across the mouth of the valley. Two seconds later, the scream of descending projectiles sent him sprinting for the stairwell.
Some of the others made it off the roof, throwing themselves down the steps behind Tobias as the first rocket struck. The whole scriptorium lurched, hurling him down the metal stairs, Castorius and Bazerian landing on top of him.
The roof disappeared in a sheet of white flame and debris rained down the steps after the rebels. Winded, Tobias could barely move, pushing at Bazerian to get up.
The flames did not dissipate, but turned a pale blue, licking at the edge of the roof entrance. Mesmerised, Tobias watched as a drip of burning liquid fell onto the first step. Against all expectation, rivulets started to form, moving quite deliberately over the metal, vapour burning with cerulean flame. Step by step they descended towards the Illyrians. ‘Phosphex!’ snarled Tobias, rolling to his feet.
The building shuddered again as another rocket slammed into the eastern wall below them, punching through the brick to spray more of the deadly fire across the interior. The flame coming down the stairs flowed “faster, the heat prickling at Tobias’ neck as he and the others tried to make the next landing.
Phosphex boiled up from below, impossibly leaping from step to step as the flame ascended, as if guided by a sentient homicidal intent. Castorius screamed when his woollen jerkin caught fire, flailing as blue flames seared his face.
There was no smoke but the phosphex was eating the air, choking Tobias. He fell to his knees, tripping Castorius as he stumbled down the steps. In moments he was engulfed by fire, clothes consumed, skin and flesh stripped to blackening bones while Tobias watched in horror. Behind him, Bazerian shrieked and then fell silent.
It was impossible to breathe, and Tobias’ last scream was sucked from his lungs. As he tried to take a final breath the phosphex leapt into his open mouth and incinerated him from the inside.
Farith Redloss turned and called back to Danaes. His second-in-command was coordinating the phosphex strike at the main communications panel.
‘Signal the Lord Protector. We have commenced pacification.’
The voted successor of the Dreadwing nodded solemnly.
‘We have come,’ the warrior intoned slowly. ‘We are death.’
Stepping back up the ramp, Redloss smil

"Nederlands Nieuw-Guinea", as it is called in Dutch, was by then an uncharted wilderness. In 1902, the Dutch government established Merauke on the southern coast, bordering the formerly British, now Australian portion. In 1910, Hollandia (Jayapura) was established on the then-German border on the northern coast.
The Minister of Colonies, Jacob van Gelderen, of the SDAP, supported an increased effort in New Guinea to bring the colony up to the same standards as the Dutch East Indies and Suriname. Currently, contact with the native population was scarce, and barbaric practices such as headhunting were still practised widely. Dutch coalition and opposition parties found the dangers of Dutch New Guinea an important issue for missionary activities, and the soft hold over what was practically ungoverned could catch the interest of the expansionist Japanese, who controlled the islands not too far off north from New Guinea, and had expressed their eagerness to expand their colonies all too well.
Dutch New Guinea was floated as a destination for Dutch migrants overpopulation in the Dutch countryside, where farmland was scarce compared to the growing number of skilled farmers. Similarly, the Indonesians of Dutch descent in Java were considered for migration, because in the new plans for the Dutch East Indies, they would be confined to Batavia. Migrating a large portion of the educated Dutch-speaking Indo's would do wonders for civilising the interior. The island would also be an open destination to European migrants, where standards for "whiteness" and education would be lower than in British settler colonies, which unarguably had less hostile climates.
Operating out of Manokwari in the west, Hollandia in the north east, and Merauke in the south east, the Dutch deployed four 1000-man purely Moluccan regiments, the 1st to 4th, to establish perimeters surrounding the outposts, make contact with the local population, and establish a lay of the (political) landscape. The Moluccans were been outfitted with an above average number of machine guns, and enjoyed the dedicated naval support of the Hr.Ms. De Zeven Provinciën Cruiser, 4 Fret-class destroyers and the old Hr.Ms. Kortenaer, Hr.Ms. Holland and Hr.Ms. Zeeland Cruisers for fire support and transport around the coast.
The local population is estimated to be at most less than half a million (*I

Conversely, STEM degrees have grown in popularity. STEM fields however will not make you critically reflect on capitalism, inequality, and other injustices, while humanities degrees like history or philosophy will. Is this a negative trend that is serving the interests of the ruling class and the status quo?

interesting, it seems like the MENA region is merging with Turkey, i'm not sure how this is going to affect the region, is it going to still be named "Turkish Championship League" or what will it be named now?
Really curious to see how this pans out

A spray of solid rounds chewed through a portion of the cratered wall just to the left of where Tulliver crouched. Matheson was sobbing into the squad comms, but Tulliver was in no position to investigate his position or current status. The damned Singularists were putting up more of a fight than Terran High Command intel had anticipated.
Opposite his position behind a steel support pillar, there was a bright flash that prompted the shock trooper’s helmet to black out his vision for a moment. Exterior audio feed from his helmet blanked out as well, signalling that the sound of the discharge had exceeded what his ears could sustain. Deaf and blind, Tulliver realized how bad the situation was getting. Enemy troop numbers and armament had been severely underestimated coming into this engagement, and his people were paying for it. Before he had found himself pinned down, he had seen a Singularist mechanized walker butchering its way through Cirrus Squad.
As his helmet restored normal vision and hearing, Tulliver swept around the side of the pillar and loosed a volley of explosive rounds in the general direction of the enemy before making a run for the fallback rendezvous point. He saw the scattered remains of Cirrus Squad but not the machine that had ended them. He saw Matheson, his torso coming to an abrupt and grisly end just above where his waistline used to be. He saw…
Three figures, bounding toward the battle line Tulliver had just managed to escape. Each of them was enveloped in a suit of shimmering nanite armor that constantly changed shape and color to expedite movement, provide defense from incoming fire, and obscure the soldier’s true position from the enemy. Realizing what he was seeing, the fleeing soldier stopped dead in his tracks and turned to watch the newcomers. The brass must have really thought things had gone tits up if they were sending in the ‘Silvers.
Specialist soldiers chosen more for their resolve and imagination than their physicality, the Quicksilvers were given only one piece of equipment when deployed on the battlefield: the Quicksilver Carapace. One hundred kilos of specialized nanites enveloped each of the ‘Silvers, co

This plan now came to fruition as the Mayan peoples of South Chiapas have officially been incorporated into Yucatan. The local Spanish speaking peoples were not amused by the annexation, and hearing rumours from what it is like for them to be in the Yucatan borders, many of them decided to fight back causing the death of twenty diplomats.
The following day heavy retribution was delivered as the Guard-Priests saw their first large-scale conflict. The hand-cannon fire was deafening and destructive, followed by the full on charge of machete wielding armoured men, the main Spanish-speaking forces were quickly cut down or routed. The Guard-Priests are currently cleaning up the last of the rebellious Spanish. Guard-Priest casualties were minimal, but the need for an improved arsenal has become clear.

Algeria & other petrostates are about to melt down! (great summary!)
The 8th of Mars is generally misunderstood in Algeria, as it is considered 'Aid el Maraa', meanwhile it's a day for women rights and the long road of both women and men defending the rights of Eve, now if we speak about most of developed countries I honestly don't think that women rights are a problem any more, most of feminism mouvement there are just defending some futility and non primal rights, but here in Algeria women is still considered a sub-human(and I am not overreacting) a usual day of most women here goes from sexual harassement out to conjugal harassment passing by a whole society system that consider women as a reason of all evil (chta 3lach marahich tih ? euh bcz of women, corona 3lach ja? do i need to answer?), a women testimony is not accepted in tribunals even if that women is a doctor, some parents still forbid their girls of education and the list is long.
So I wanted to take this opportunity (and yes we should think about that the whole year not just the 8th Mars) to participate even a little in the improvement of women state in Algeria, I know most Redditors aren't holding a 5th century mentality and that most of you here respect and consider women but be involved to improve the situation in your circle, that's the minimum we can do for our lovely mothers, sisters, friends, girlfriends, and for humanity in general.
PS: Any respectable different points of views are the most welcome.
So I was watching the deep dive video again and was wondering if we can clean up Pacifica. Once we take out the Animals, can we take it a step further and take out the voodoo boys and any other gangs? The devs say this game will be very immersive and have lots of role playing elements to it so I don’t think it’s out of the question.
Imagine, no more gangs exist in Pacifica and developers who once wanted to once settle there comes back. Settlers get jobs working in construction. Police comes back since it’s no longer dangerous. This maybe be a stretch but who knows how far CDPR will take it.
