Hello all! I’ve been looking into getting my first automatic OTF knife, but the ones I’ve seen are $400+. A bit steep for starting out. I’ve heard benchmade is a good brand, although they’re pretty expensive. Anything you all would recommend in the sub-$200 range? Thanks!
this question has popped up many times for me. most recently when i impulse bought a $125 wallet (the ridge wallet carbon fiber) this was super conflicting decision because typically i dont buy stuff that i like the look of vs same product but cheaper with cheaper materials or look. if a product was cheaper in pink (im a guy) i would buy the pink one because its cheaper. this was the first time i bought a item more expensive because i like the look and feel of it. im also the guy that will by $400 OTF knives and several thousand dollar guns and not blink a eye. so i come here for a discussion, what determines value to you and are you a person who cares about how a product looks or are you all about the function? does your whole EDC have to match? like all carbon fiber or all one color? feel free to give me your opinions.
I know this is not firearm related but I figured someone here could drop some knowledge…I am looking at possibly buying a single edge micro tech otf knife…would this be legal to edc if I got one with a single edge blade…assisted open knives are legal to possess and Carry but I’m reading conflicting info about otf knives…thanks
Any recommendations for a good OTF knife in the 50 to $100 range? Even lower if possible. The only brand I know is microtech and those are pretty expensive. There has to be some other good OTFs out there for a more reasonable cost.
I am looking to gift a knife, and was looking at Microtech, but do not want to spend $300-400 bucks. What is extremely similar assisted open OTF knife that might be just a touch cheaper? TIA.

BM mini coalition auto clone: Super impressed with this little dude. Feels good in hand, fires nicely, has no lock rock or blade play from what I can tell. Tiny imperfection around the pivot that I was gonna color in with a marker. bnib $50 obo -
SVS mini ti knife clone: Tiny, well made. The edge of the spidey hole is chamfered. Actually is thumb flickable but its not super easy for me. Sharp. No play. bnib $55 obo -
slenderman OTF: Very impressed with this, my first one. Has the standard play that most all OTFs do. Sharp af. Its so light and just feels very good. I think its a flat grind. There are some imperfections in the handle that I tried getting on video. Fires nice and hard. Comes with tool and I think extra spring. bnib. $120 obo -
microtech comb clone: I really want to keep this but I dont use combs. Seems pretty well done. Standard amount of play that most all otfs have. Was supposed to get a diff color but ended up with orange which actually looks good. Fires nicely and no misfires. There is a spring noise and in the past (on other otfs) I was able to remedy this with some grease on the spring, but didnt wanna take this guy apart. Comes with I think a tool to take it apart and maybe an extra spring. bnib. $65 obo -
integral aluminum lochsa clone: I like this knife and the blade shape but the ergonomics aren't for me. Integral aluminum handle. No blade play or lock rock, not sure how sharp it is. Its thumb flickable. Just seems weird to me that the clip in on the lockbar, keeps causing me to squeeze the bar. Its not drop shut but has good action. $50 obo

G shock Mudmaster CLONE, I don't know much about this besides its not real and I believe the functions work. The compass seemed to work once I calibrated it. This actually feels really solid. I'm not sure I would trust it to go diving with it though. I have worn this probably 10 times. Its a bit large for my wrist. sv-40

I didn't mess it up by shooting it through something, I already did that and fixed it.
Now my blade is stuck fully extended, however my slider I use to extend and retract it is useless. As in it does not work. I can attempt to use it, it slides (not fully) and does nothing. I can fidget with the blade and thats it. I'd rather not have to buy a new one (it was a gift.. lol) so I 'd like to know if theres a fix.

I am at least the second owner. I never carried or cut anything with it, just fidgeted with it. It opens and closes with some authority. Blade has a blemish on the logo side, I tried to capture it in the pictures. Handle looks unblemished. No box or papers, just the knife.
