#The Specter of Liberal Democracy

When Marx infamously declared Communism a 'specter' he spoke of the imminent that the nations of Europe – then embroiled in the 1848 revolutionary wave – felt by the nascent revolutionary industrial working class. However, this proclamation was true in another way, the threat of the working class ultimately was a specter. The pact of ‘democracy’ forged between the revolutionary liberal bourgeoisie and the working classes resulted not in the ushering in of constitutionalism, free elections and open society but instead quickly invited repression. The bourgeoisie were caught between two worlds. On one hand they resented the power of the aristocracy on the other they feared the reprisal of the workers. This schizophrenic desire led to the collapse of the revolutions. After the liberal Cavaignac crushed the June Days uprising – and with it the hope of the Paris workers – the aristocracy and allied classes quickly turned on this experiment of ‘democracy’ and ushered in a new wave of repression.
The story didn’t end there however, Europe would be embroiled in contests for ‘democracy’ for the rest of the 19th and 20th century. Like the 1848 uprisings these contests were schizophrenic, some were led by elements of the bourgeoisie seeking more power, others by workers who felt excluded from participation in society. To many this was the inevitable result of history – society would be enlightened as people were granted freedom. While often associated with liberalism this view was also held by many socialists and communists who saw the bourgeoisie revolutions as inevitably giving way to the proletarian revolution of the future. This hope was shattered by the rise of a new kind of society – fascism the archenemy of democracy and socialism.
Fascism has been viewed both as an aberration of or as the end result of liberal democracy. Bordiga argued that fascism was simply the bourgeoisie exercising full control no longer content to share it with the other classes in society. Now that the aristocratic society had faded with all its rights and privileges that stratified society so too would the bourgeoisie create their own systems of stratification. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
