I only found a single book on Amazon called "The Nine Chapters on the Mathematical Art: Companion and Commentary", but it's too expensive for me. There seems to be a lot of articles on these chapters, but I am not sure where to find the actual chapters with problems and illustrations. TY.
I recently learned of the nine chapters of mathematical art. A math book written shortly after Euclid elements. By Liu Hui, from China. My question is, this book seems to cover a lot of geometry AND seemed to connect the material with an agricultural economy.
Basically the Chinese are a really smart group of people. When the west produced Euclids elements, it was hailed as the greatest book ever. For centuries. Meanwhile Chinese people produced a book within 50 years, that seems to be more comprehensive than Euclids elements and most any other math book.
Why did this book not get hype? And do you think the principles in nine chapters of math art are still relevant today?
