A list of puns related to "Neo Geo Aes"
As per the title. Is MVS considered the gold standard? Or are there advantages to playing in AES mode?

SOLD!!
Got this on ebay awhile back. Works perfectly and looks pretty great, but the games are just too expensive for me to collect for.
Includes Neo Geo AES console, two original joysticks, original A/C adapter and A/V cables, controller extension cables (not pictured), and an HD Retrovision adapter for Genesis RGB-component cables (HD Retrovision cable is NOT included).
Joysticks have been upgraded with Sanwa buttons and ball top, but I have included the original buttons and ball tops (which also work fine) in case you'd like to change them back.
The worn down feet have also been replaced with 3M rubber feet for a nice grip.
No other mods done, I haven't flashed the bios or anything.
Price is $525 shipped to US only.

EDIT : I will also include 2 controller extension cables, but FYI they're hard to attach, and some people in the reviews claimed they damaged the controller pins, though i never had this issue
Edit 2 : sold!
Sorry if this question has been asked before, but I've searched the internet high and low and can't find an answer to this. I've also looked at all the RetroPie and RetroArch config on the Pi itself but can't find the option to do this.
I'm running RetroPie on a Raspberry Pi 3 and have most everything set up perfectly, playing NES, SNES, Genesis, GBA, and Neo-Geo Pocket games without any issue. However, when it comes to Neo-Geo games, they only boot up in Arcade mode. I'm trying to find out how to simply set up AES mode so I can get the Options menu, Training mode, etc. on my Neo-Geo games.
Most of the articles I have found reference options that I simply cannot find, or are overly technical and I don't quite understand, or link to Wikis that are no longer active. I've looked at basically everything and it seems like this is more difficult than it needs to be.
Is there a quick and simple way to set Neo-Geo games to boot up as AES?
Ever since getting a Neo Geo AES, I've been stuck on collecting for it. I really want to play more games for the system, but they are so expensive. I tried a 161-in-1 cart with an MVS adapter, but it never worked.
So, my question is, what games are "worth it" for the system? I really want to expand my collection, but don't have thousands of dollars to spend on it. I have to conserve my resources to what games are actually worth collecting.
I have a Neo Geo AES home system that did not come with a box and moving soon. What do you guys use to store it or moving it around?
Looking for ideas and suggestions!
So the AES selects which translation/localization on the cart by the region of the system, correct? But what about European region games? Did players in that region have the ability to select English, French, German, etc? Would love to know. Thanks.
Hi there, long time lurker first time posted, I just wondering if anyone knows where to buy a NeoSD Pro or a Darksoft Multi game cartridge?
I canβt find them anywhere (new or 2nd hand)
Thanks!
I've been waiting several months for a Neo Geo AES "NEO-0 PRO POW 3" to come in from Japan via surface/sea mail. It finally came in and I can not seem to get it to turn on.
The system is hooked up with an Insurrection Industries RGB SCART cable plugged into a Trinitron (https://stoneagegamer.com/insurrection-industries-neo-geo-rgb-scart-cable-w-csync.html) and the AC Adapter I'm using says on the box that it's for SNES/NES/Genesis but the ebay seller advertised it as working for "Neo Geo PRO-POW3". (https://www.ebay.com/itm/313464398084?hash=item48fbef2104:g:elgAAOSwaLxf9yAd)<---Link is to a current listing of the ac adapter I ordered.
I'm using a NeoSD plugged into the Neo Geo's cartridge slot and an SD card with Neo Geo games in .neo format on the root directory loaded into the NeoSD. If there's anything else that I need to do to "prepare" the NeoSD besides converting the games to .neo format then I haven't done that.
I flip the power switch and nothing happens.
If I plug the jack from the Insurrection Industries RGB Scart cable into the "phones" port on the front of the console then there is a quiet "ticking" sound and that is quite literally the only thing I can get this Neo Geo AES to do. Not very exciting.
I tried extracting the firmware update for the NeoSD to the root directory and that didn't work. I read in a .pdf that you might have to press the start button on the player one controller to boot into the NeoSD menu, I tried that and nothing happened.
What could be the issue here?
I want to learn how to romhack neo geo roms. I've been looking and looking and the tools are few and far between (mostly found on romhacking.net), and some tools or turorias are dead, no longer online. But im asking if anybody here knows more about this stuff, that would be really appreciatted.
Hi there! In a couple of days I'll become a proud owner of a Jap Neo Geo AES.
I just want to double check with you guys the first steps to set up/ mod the system.
I already took care of the flashcard (Neo Neo SD Pro).
I'll open the Neo Geo and check the motherboard revision to check if needs a 5V or 9V like Firebrand explains in this post:
http://firebrandx.com/aespsuguide.html
Next depending of the motherboard revision I might or might not do the RGB bypass.
I already ordered an eprom with unibios 4.0 installed: https://www.consolesunleashed.com/product/snk-neo-geo-unibios-v4-mod-kit/
The only thing I'm missing is how to connect it to a flat TV, I was thinking about converters like RAD2X or RetroTink 5X-Pro both are out of stock with no re stock ETA.
That's should pretty much cover everything, right? Am I missing something?
Thanks!
Has anyone found a nice solution to store an AES console. I previously looked into storage boxes with adjustable foam inserts but just wanted to see if there was a pre-made example out there anywhere?
So I'm setting up a mini for a friend and copying everything off mine to work on there. Now, I use fba 2016 as a decent Neo Geo emulator, and the early 2020 version on my Mini effortlessly let's me switch to AES in 'force neo Geo mode'. I downloaded the current fba16 for my mates mini and noticed that switching to AES mode just does nothing and the games remain in mvs mode. How do I fix this to work?
PS. I don't wanna use the unibios way, I want aes to work like it always did.
Hi,
my AES is completely stock and I can't get a clean video signal from the composite cable I have:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djCM4-sYfAU&feature=youtu.be
I have a 3rd party power supply as it's a japanese console: https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Power-adapter-charger-Console-SNK/dp/B074QQQVY8/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=neo+geo+aes+netzteil&qid=1613844168&sr=8-3
I have read in another thread that the power supply could be an issue. Another thing I noticed is that the power connector on the board is quite loose. So I can wiggle the barrel connector quite a bit while connected (that does not have any effect on the video signal though).
Any hints on what the issue could be?
Cheers,
Johannes
Anyone willing to sell their Neo Geo AES Ninja Commando (English Version) today?
Heya guys!
Just letting you know I have them available in my shop: https://retrofrog.net/products/neo-geo-aes-controller-rubber-feet-4-feet
$4 for a set of 4 replacement feet.

I recently purchased an 8bitdo 2.4GHZ controller for my NES and another PC Engine-style USB controller for my MiSTer and they work so much better than any Bluetooth options.
I would personally love something like this for Neo Geo, but I'm wondering if there's a large enough market to make it worthwhile.
Honestly, even a Neo Geo bluetooth adapter would make me happy (even with the lag) as I'm really looking for a wireless solution for the console.
After creating the CPS 1/2/3 folders and setting up the systems correctly (even set the default emulator to run the games), I tried playing a game to test it out. It would run for a second then exit out immediately. I found it quite odd this happened; why is batocera not recognizing the default emulator I set in es_systems.cfg? So I brought up Game Options for one of the games (SFIII as a test) and selected Advanced Game Options. There, under Emulator, I chose my default emulator as FBNeo. To make sure the setting was saved, after backing out, I brought up the main menu, went to Game Settings and selected Update Game Lists. Then, I went back, selected SFIII⦠AND IT RAN!
Because of this, I wanted to check something. I accessed batocera.conf and went to the very end of the file to see this:
cps3[βsfiii.zipβ].core=fbneo
cps3[βsfiii.zipβ].emulator=libretro
Is there was a way to change this option to reflect ALL the files in the folder?
Also, I went about to create a separate Neo-Geo folder called mvs (the arcade games are housed here); the home console games are in the neogeo folder. Because the mvs folder does not have the option to set the bios (it should run the games in arcade mode by default anyway), in the neogeo folder, I set the bios to Console AES World for one game (3 Count Bout for example) under Advanced Game Options. When I opened batocera.conf, I found this:
neogeo[β3countb.zipβ].fbneo-neogeo-mode-switch=AES Asia
Once again, am I able to change this option to make ALL the files in the neogeo folder run in AES mode? Any help would be truly appreciated!
Looking for a Neo Geo AES system. I live in the Los Angeles area and I am currently looking for the system if anyone is interested in selling.
Looking for complete systems with controller and cables but does not have to be in original box and if anyone has games I am also interested.
I recently got an AES, it's the 'latest model'; a 3-6 board and just wanted to know how long these consoles last typically.
Also how long AES carts last as well?
