Wikipedia mentions that the ancient Kingdom of Cilicia (ruled by the Syennesis dynasty) "became as strong as Babylonia," but the wiki's maps of the Neo-Babylonian Empire (which coexisted with Cilicia) show Cilicia within Babylonian territory. Why is this?

How much did the Neo-Babylonian and Neo-Assyrian empires know about their earlier counterparts?
Did they see themselves as continuations of the previous empires of the same name or is that just a naming system of historians? What would they have known about them?

Did the Neo-Babylonian Empire conquer Egypt or make it a vassal state?
I was arguing with some biblical fundamentalist who were saying that the prophecy in Ezekiel of Babylon conquering Egypt was fulfilled because Babylon defeated Egypt at the battle of Carchemish. In which either Babylon conquered Egypt or made Egypt a client state this βfulfillingβthe prophecy.
But I know from my history books Iβve read that Egypt maintained its independence. But can ask historians verify this? If possible can you include legitimate sources?

How viable would restoring a Neo-Neo Babylonian Empire have been in this game's time frame?
I believe the Neo-Babylonian Empire was conquered by the Persians couple hundred years before the start of the game. Do you think an option to restore Babylon would be viable for this game's time period?

The Neo-Babylonian empire had an obsession with the ancient sumerian and akkadian cultures, one aspect of this is that they preserved old statues and artworks, excavated and rebuild temples, and studying old inscriptions, could any of that work be comparable to modern day archeology and restoration?
It's just funny to think of these very ancient people digging out buildings of an even more ancient civilization and doing things that would look familiar to modern day archeologists, it makes you think of how vast history is and how brief we are... so I wanna know if they were actually "ancient archeologists" or if I'm simply looking too much into it

The rise of the Neo-Babylonian Empire?
A pastor of a church I went to was teaching on Habakkuk 1:6-11 and he said that the Neo-Babylonians, in a span of 20 years, went from being nothing to being a dominating force in the ANE. He then implied that this was Godβs doing in order for them to sake Judah and then ultimately revive the Jewish people to follow Yahweh and thus bring about great spiritual changes to Jews. This is obviously a theological claim and not a historical one.
My question is, what is the academic view of how (if itβs true) did the Neo-Babylonians get so powerful so quickly? What is the view of Habakkuk?

Did Nebuchadnezzar and the Neo-Babylonian Empire take the elites of any other conquered societies than the Judahites into exile/captivity?
Title pretty much says it all. I canβt find any other instances of the Neo-Babylonian dynasty taking the elites of a subjugated culture into captivity (as they did with a small percentage of the population of Judah) rather than simply executing them.

The Extent of Babylonian and Median Cooperation in the Overthrow of the Neo Assyrian Empire
To what extent did these guys coordinate and/or fight alongside each other? Was it more of the Babylonians fighting them in one region and the Medes fighting in another, or was it a tighter alliance?
I come at this question from the perspective of biblical studies, with limited knowledge of the history (basically what the commentaries and what Wikipedia say). There are a number of passages in Isaiah that describe the Medes and sometimes the Elamites overthrowing Babylon, and I'm exploring the possibility that some of these passages may refer to Babylon when it was under the rule of the Assyriansβthus the Medes (and Elamites) in league with the Babylonians to help them take Babylon.

What if the Persians never conquered the Neo-Babylonian Empire?
For the past couple of days I was just thinking about the Babylonians in the Near East, and how the Persians had conquered them. I was wondering what would have happened if lets say Nebuchadnezzar II had heirs that were strong and capable leaders.
