Real Friends Classic: 121 My Sacrificial Clam with Neil Flynn
We're hoping in the way back time machine, all the way to season one, to revisit a conversation with the beloved Neil Flynn.
This is a revisit episode. I wasn't here for this one so I don't have much to say except it was very good having Neil Flynn around. Fantastic early episode choice.

Most of the time when you see midwestern dads on sitcoms, itβs the fat goofball who nobody took seriously.
Man, Neil Flynn killed this role! As someone who grew up in the Midwest, we all knew this kind of dad. The dad who you never approached because he never talked. The dad who was stoic. The dad who was a wonderful person but was just reserved.
I couldnβt think of anyone who could do this role better than Neil Flynn!
What is everyoneβs favorite Janitor story?
I love Neil Diamond and I donβt care who knows lol. Great series. The writing. The casting. The story. The soundtrack. So good! I hope you all enjoyed as much as I did!
He should be.
What do yβall think, if this were to happen, I think the title for this show would be called βBadβ hahah since βThe Middleβ took out the first couple of words in their title. Because Bryan Cranston has stared as a meth dealer after mitm, now itβs Neil Flynnβs turn to star as that lol
On Thursdayβs postgame pod, following Kate Faganβs insightful report on the womenβs Olympic team there was a skit revolving around a blind race care driver named Lee.
Lee was joined by a character named Jason, who I believe was voiced by Neil Flynn. I have nothing to go on other than being a Scrubs fan, and thought the way he said βmanβ reminded me of a couple scenes from Scrubs.
Love the show, and also want to note Dan really sold this bit for his part at the beginning. I love that they are doing this and am curious who the other actors actually are.
I may be late to this, but I found out that Neil Flynn does the voice of Jonathan Kent in the August 2020 animated film Superman: Man of Tomorrow. Since I've been binge watching The Middle for the past few weeks I started watching this movie today and there's a huge dissonance going on in my brain. I hear Mike Heck but obviously see a completely different guy, it's crazy and weird haha.
Nothing more, I just wanted to share :-) the movie is in HBO Max and Jonathan Kent is in the first 5 minutes in case you want to check this out and see if it feels weird to you too
has anyone seen the middle with neil flynn? i thought he would be a funny character similar to scrubs- boy was i wrong, he's the most boring average white dad.
In the latest panel Neil said something like I wasnβt a major character or something similar, and this really bothered me cause honestly his presence in the show added a lot and not just by torturing JD. He actually interacted with everyone and had his own arcs/stories(i know they were a bit minimized). I mean Scrubs without Dr Jan finding cure for Polio would definitely be missing a lot.
The Janitor is BRILLIANT, whereas Mike Heck, his character on the middle is almost painfully boring. I wish he had a better role to showcase his talents, the man is hilarious
