I’ve been listening to Sammy’s podcast ‘Our Thing’ and in the Killing Paul pt 1 episode he mentions Neil’s deathbed being bugged while they’re trying to persuade Neil to go along with the the hit on Big Paul. So does this mean the FBI knew about the hit was being planned and just didn’t tell Paul?

Aniello John “Neil” Dellacroce (1914 –1985) was old school Cosa Nostra, and was most famously Underboss to Carlo Gambino, and mentor to John Gotti. Many say he would have succeeded Carlo as Gambino boss if he hadn’t been locked up at the time Carlo died. Any recommendations for a bio book of Neil Dellacroce?
My vote probably goes to Neil Dellacroce. He executed Gambino/ Castellanos will effectively while also being sort of a street boss of the “street” faction of the family.
What do you guys think?
Castellano knew the wiretapping was compromising and that Quack-Quack mentioned his name + talked about drugs. I mean, just putting the boss' name on a tape and talking about drug trafficking was enough to kill an idiot like Ruggiero. So why? I don't think the reason was that Ruggiero was Dellacroce's nephew.

Not that it matters in the sense of the story at all, but it would make perfect sense why he picked Jackie to be boss over Junior.
In a lot of real life scenarios with the mob bosses back in the day they tended to pick other family members as successors if there was no son to take over. For example Paul Castellano was Carlo Gambino's brother in law which is one reason he was picked as the boss over his underboss Neil Dellacroce.
I just think that explanation makes sense. Daughters of those old mob bosses tended to marry made men anyway.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
