A list of puns related to "National Lgbtq Wall Of Honor"

So I've been struggling with pretty heavy depression and loneliness for awhile, but this past month has been really bad for some reason. I'm constantly anxious from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to bed. Sometimes, I start shaking a little and it gets hard to breathe.
So, I'd like to make a friend to distract from that. Would love a long term friend but if it just ends up being a short term thing that's OK too I guess. I should also mention I'm an introvert with little motivation, always have been. It's something I'd like to change and I'm currently trying to work on that. So if I act awkward or slightly nervous that's why lol. But once I get to know someone I open up a lot.
I should make it clear that I've... Never exactly had an IRL friend. Sad I know, but it's just true. My anxiety and shyness was always crippling and I never exactly tried to put myself out there or anything. And it just hit me recently that I've never actually had one, or a relationship, which has obviously contributed to my loneliness and depression a ton. So yeah, I'd love a friend to change that. Not the relationship part lol, just so it's clear I'm not treating this like some hookup shit lol.
As for me interest and hobby wise, I'm from Texas (Houston specifically) and I'm into instruments like Guitar and Kalimba, music in general (my music taste is all over the place tbh lol), Gaming (generally like rpgs and stuff like SMT/Persona, Final fantasy, dragon quest etc) mostly play on consoles generally, TV (been watching Arcane and the Expanse), Podcasts (like "Knowledge fight" for one), reading (like Sci fi and fantasy, comics and Manga) and true crime. As you'll probably notice a lot of my hobbies and interests are... Not exactly the most social lol. So that's why I think it'd be great to hear about yours! Always looking for something new to distract me and get into. I'm very much interested in the outdoors and wilderness but unfortunately haven't been able to get into that too much recently.
I'm also an animal lover, I adore elephants and such lol. I have a dog so pics of her are also on the table if that's enticing π Also pretty interested in anything to do with space. I'm really open and into most things so just ask if you have questions. I'm POSSIBLY autistic as well, but that's not been confirmed yet lol. I'm also Bi if you care about that kinda thing. Figured I should mention cause I've had people have a problem with it before.
I'm a good listener and hopefull
... keep reading on reddit β‘Front page of my local paper is this article about Americans who are using Norse Mythology to excuse a whites only (also anti LGBTQ) βfolk churchβ. As a person (white M38) with Scandinavian roots, who loves anything Norse/Norwegian, I find this to be absolute garbage, especially the part about the Kennewick Man. Love to hear your thoughts?
Edit: thanks for all the great responses! Reminds me the world is a good place and a couple bad actors donβt represent us all! Please remember to keep it civil! The cross post to r/Norse has already been removed, likely due to comments. I really appreciate all the feedback and will be sending this back to the editor of the SacBee in appreciation for calling out hate in our communities.
*Edit 2: wow so many great informative responses! I will continue to read these and educated myself. Sent this to the writer of the article, hopefully they read it and see the amazing info and feedback their story has inspired.
(Mods delete if not allowed! I'm p new to the snarking community here so I'm not sure if Focus on the Family counts, but they do in my head)
While it's super fun to snark, I know I sometimes struggle with the wave of homophobia that becomes even more prevalent during pride month. In order to combat this, I know I've been looking towards happy queer media and really leaning on my community. One of the books I've been referring to a lot is "Refocusing my Family" by Amber Cantorna.
"Refocusing my Family " is Amber's memoir, where she reflects on growing up as the daughter of a high-ranking official at Focus on the Family. The book explores her journey through purity culture, the horrifying maze of interpersonal roles and relationships behind the scenes in fundie churches, and her personal journey to acceptance after coming out as gay. While it obviously gets incredibly dark at times, it's really heartwarming to hear about somebody coming out and finding happiness and love down the line. Even though I can't personally relate to finding faith after coming out, reading about Amber's return to religion really hit home as a queer ex-catholic.
I had the honor of meeting Amber and her wife right when her book came out in 2017, and she was so incredibly kind, well-spoken, and thoughtful, and we had a great time laughing at Focus on the Family together. If you're looking for something to read that both critiques fundamentalist culture and lifts up queer voices, I really recommend it!
She talks about the book in her promo video, and you can read more about it here!
(As a sidebar: multiple casually homophobic members of my family have read this memoir and completely changed their opinions on gay people as a result, so I also think it's a good book to have in your educational arsenal)!
Besides Newt obviously, since James Dashner confirmed it on his Twitter.
