A list of puns related to "National Cybersecurity Center Of Excellence"
I recently learned that some colleges are deemed national centers of academic excellence in cybersecurity by agencies like NSA and DHS(im not sure if any more agencies do it for cybersecurity). My college is one if them and I thought it was pretty cool and might help in an interview especially because my college only offers associates but has the same credibility with those government agencies as colleges with bachelors programs.
Im wondering if anybody knows about this whole National centers of academic excellence in cybersecurity and if it really holds any weight in the industry.
EDIT: Thanks everyone for the replies, thats a lot of interactions. Id say the main consensus is that skills is everything and degrees donโt matter much. If you can prove your skills you can get the job! Also the National center of academic excellence in cybersecurity thing doesnโt really hold much weight. At most holds a little weight for applying at gov agencies like NSA or just shows the program was decent.
I remember asking about this on r/wgu more than a year ago and looks like it finally happened. Here is the link to the CAE Institution Map if anyone is curious: https://www.caecommunity.org/cae-map. Cheers to all you cybersecurity majors.

The Doudna lab's research on CRISPR biology led to the 2012 discovery of the mechanism by which small RNAs direct the protein Cas9 to bind and cut specific DNA sequences within cells, thereby altering a chosen DNA sequence and changing the cellsโ activity in a programmed way. This work opened up a world of possibilities by providing a simple and effective means of making targeted changes in the genomes of virtually any cell type or organism. By supporting this research, the NIH is achieving its mission to advance the promise of genomic medicine through the precise manipulation of genes at a scale and level of accuracy that is not currently realized.
The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), part of NIH, has awarded a five-year grant to to the Doudna lab to establish the Center for Genome Editing and Recording as part of the Center of Excellence in Genomic Science (CEGS) program. The Center is pursuing two technological goals: 1) the improvement of the CRISPR technology to enable more efficient, rapid and accurate genome alterations; and 2) the implementation of robust readout technologies to quickly and accurately assess natural gene variations, as well as the success of CRISPR gene editing. In addition to work through the new Center, research efforts in the Doudna lab include discovering the mechanisms of novel Cas proteins and exploring new anti-CRISPRs which protect self DNA from CRISPR cleavage.
Our goal is to harness the power of CRISPR to benefit humankind by curing disease and caring for the environment. Weโd love to hear your questions about this technology and the new Center of Excellence in Genomic Science. Ask us anything!

The National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security have designated Fordham(Jesuit) as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE-CDE).
โWe are now recognized as a federal training ground for cybersecurity,โ said Eva Badowska, Ph.D., dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.
While GSAS offers a masterโs in cybersecurity, Badowska said that it is important to note that the designation is for the entire University, which has expertise in cybersecurity across disciplines and departments: from the Gabelli School of Businessโ Center for Digital Transformation to Fordham Lawโs Center on Law and Information Policy to the Fordham Center for Cybersecurity.
She said that the new designation will attract federal workers, police officers, and students wanting to work in government toย Fordhamโs programs. It will also make the University and researchers eligible for federal grants aligned with cybersecurity.
โBut in order to achieve this we had to show that the entire university could demonstrate its expertise and we had to incorporate it into our own cybersecurity structure,โ she said.
Badowska applauded Fordham IT for fast-tracking a University cybersecurity strategy originally set to roll out over a two-year period. By December of last year, the department had shifted gears and developed a new framework based on the requirements needed for the NSA/Homeland Security designation
โ**This certification required that we have the framework and a more contemporary plan than we had, so it really helped us lev
