Why is Naked Raygun not a bigger band?
I feel like Naked Raygun (and perhaps by extension the whole Chicago scene) should be a huge name in punk... at least as big as The Misfits, Minor Threat and other cult bands (if the Misfits are bigger than a cult band I apologize, I thought they were). Perhaps Raygun and the Effigies as well should be at least as big as The Descendents.
The Effigies and Raygun (2 of Chicago's biggest acts) seem to not get namedropped a lot in the annals of old school punk. At least there's a famous image of Rollins wearing an Effigies shirt. Are they just something one has to discover or stumble upon? Do they not have the word of mouth that gets them put on thousands and thousands of t-shirts?
