A list of puns related to "Máel Ruanaid Mac Donnchada Midi"
Hope the hive mind can help. I replaced my 2017 iMac with a new 2021 14“ M1 Max MBP and used Migration Assistant to transfer my setup. Unfortunately all is far from smooth as I can’t get my external MIDI gear to work while it worked fine before.
Latest OS and Logic version.
The issue is permanent MIDI stack crashes so I can no longer input any MIDI via my Keylab, hanging notes and error messages from the Mac OS Audio & MIDI config tool. All seems fine there until I start Logic and tart playing.
This is my setup:
USB-C port 1: Focusrite OctoPre Thunderbolt audio interface via Apple thunderbolt adapter and latest drivers
USB-C port 2: Arturia Keylab MK2 Behringer Neutron Behringer Crave all via a powered USB3 hub and a USB-C adapter dongle
USB-C port 3: Roland MX-1 (using the latest MX-1 driver) 3 Roland Boutique Synths (using the generic Boutique driver) Roland Boutique TB-03 (using the dedicated TB-03 driver) all via another powered USB3 hub and another USB-C adapter dongle (this also has Gigabit Ethernet)
The only success I had so far was to disconnect everything but the Keylab and connect that either via a USB-B to USB C cable without adapter or via the built in USB hub of my screen. As soon as I connect the rest, bang. My external screen is now connected via HDMI to reduce the load on the USB system but this didn’t bring any improvements.
For clarity, I’m not using any of the USB devices for audio, only MIDI. I have the same issues with MIDI-In stopping and the MIDI stack crashing when using other standalone synth apps like Arturia.
I could use real MIDI cables to simplify the setup but given it worked well on an Intel CPU, I hope there’s a way to fix this.
Does anyone recommend any usb hubs for mac to power an audio interface and midi keyboard that isnt like 100 dollars pls?
Heard there's problems with launchkey integration for apple silicon. I just want something to plug and play with automatic fader/drum knob support
What's best? Budget like 100 and nice to have decent keys 32 ish plus
I'm working with an Akai MPK261 using USB MIDI. I can send and receive MIDI messages from/to the MPK261 on either of two ports, A or B. However, the Mac Audio MIDI Setup utility reveals (or adds) two additional ports on the MPK261 labeled "MIDI" and "Remote." What are they used for? They do not appear in the MPK261 port choices. I can't seem to do anything with them. I'm wondering if it might have something to do with virtual ports and IAC. Any info/insight would be appreciated.
I've three M1s on 12.2 w/ latest Midi CC — Whenever I try to rename a Project or search Presets the app crashes (Happens on all 3 systems, regardless whether or not the MF is connected)
Hey guys!
I wanted to buy myself a midi audio interface to plug my guitar into my brand new MacBook and start making some music in GarageBand. The question is - does anyone here know if M-audio M-track duo audio interface (or M-audio M-track solo) will work with my Mac (which is M1 Big Sur)?
I would be grateful for your help!
Ohh, and sorry for my poor English, I hope it's not to bad, I'm not a native speaker :D
I have lately been experiencing some problems with inputting midi files into garageband, when I input the file it will no longer ask if I want to apply the tempo and time signature changes. How do I reactivate it asking to apply the tempo changes?
Hi guys, yesterday I was having a problem. I was trying to reproduce Guitar Pro 7 files with all tracks in MIDI mode. I was using my MacBookAir M1, with its own sound system and speakers, but there was no sound. After some minutes of exploration, I discovered that the sample rate at audio and MIDI options was set to 1024 (I have never seen that sample rate so high ever hehe). Just changing the sample rate to 512 (or lower) fixed the problem.
I am leaving this here just if any of you face the same problem :D
Wanted to play this nice intro on the piano, but I had trouble recreating the voicings. That's why I went on to make the chord progression in FL studio. It's pretty accurate actually.
You can ask me for the MIDI file :)
In iPadOS I can not connect my Ipad Pro 2nd generation to my Macbook via USB-C. Clicking enable keeps spinning and audio input is not working. Can copy files, so cable is okay. Use iPad as sound source in Logic, always up till the update to 15.0 (15.0.1 doesn’t work either). Anybody some advice/ solutions? Cheers.
hello everyone, i have resurrected my macintosh se/30 from imminent death, but now I have to find some use for it. i would like to make some retro music with it, do you have any suggestion for a good software i can find either on macitosh repository or macintosh garden? i use cubase 11 on my modern mac but sadly it won’t run on the little guy. (-:
thanks!
It's going to be a slightly expensive group of purchases, and I need to make it soon so I won't really be able to tinker and experiment to find my specific use case needs and then adjust my buys accordingly... I'll be grabbing everything soon and it will be some months before I can really think about upgrading again. I write everything from jazz to death metal, so the style is going to be all over the map, and I like experimenting with weird sounds so I imagine I'll be simulating instruments a lot. I want the FP30 because it's regarded as having some of the best action in its price range, but it doesn't have some basic controller features when hooked up to a computer - I'll need a controller for that, but also for programming drums or playing other instruments where the weighted keys would be a hindrance. Anyone able to offer any advice? Is the MIDI controller on top of the Roland something I'm going to want to think of as a serious investment, or can I get by pretty well going cheap since I really just need soft keys and a few controls for the Roland?
What is the best and cleanest way to do it? I use LoopMIDI on Windows 10/11. However, I don't know how to do it on Mac OS Big Sur.
I guess the title sort of explains it but basically I recorded a few videos on my MacBook Air using the QuickTime player which comes with it but the sound quality is shit, I want the sound to come directly from the piano. I tried plugging my midi cable from piano to laptop and recording with QuickTime that way but it still took the sound from the laptops mic so the quality wasn’t great. I’m just curious how everyone else is recording videos? I’m not the most technical so something where I just plug in the cable & hit record would be ideal. Any help or advice massively appreciated, thank you 🙏🏼
Can anyone tell me where the Audio MIDI Setup settings / preferences / configurations are saved on disk? I want to transfer aggregate device, MIDI Studio, and MIDI Network Setup settings from one machine to another. If there's a better method than copying files, tips would be welcome. Thanks.
Hey everybody,
I am really new to Reaper and those type of programs in generell. I have an electric Drumkit at Home (Yamaha sth) which has a Midi Output, and I want to connect it to Reaper to record drums with it. I bought a cable, that connects the Midi Output of the Drumkit to the USB Port of my laptop. I connected it all, chose the Drumkit as a Midi Source, made a new track, put it in record mode, chose the drumkit as a Midi source there aswell and hit recording and started playing. Reaper didn‘t record any input, just an empty track.
Now here‘s my question: Does anybody have a tutorial for doing what I want to do and recommondations for plugins to use? I used the sitala Drummachine, but like I said, didn‘t work.
Thanks in advance!
Hi, I'm new to this and I can't find any solution. I wanna use my tabletop Yamaha DD75 as midi drum controller in my macbook. My DAW can read the midi input but not all. Tried different DAW but it's still the same. Like, out of six notes it only reads one. Or only 1 note per 1.5 second, the rest were ignored.
