For context, I understood 9 months ago there was a now-archived thread that discussed such a topic, but everything there was way too shallow and taught too little. I actually began my own efforts many months ago and posted it to a YT video that showed their names (Google) translated into English, in hopes of spreading the love behind their names.

To this day, I'm still updating my own entry as I learn more. I only joined this rabbit hole in Jul 2020, so if you fellas know more hidden detail I never knew of, especially from the Japanese bros, please enlighten me as well.

An interesting part about how Hololive name their talents is primarily in the surnames. All JP talents have 2 Kanji characters in their surnames, while their given names are always in hiragana or katakana, with the exception being Gen 0, and surprisingly, Aqua. (For ease of mentions, let's just call this RoJS - rule of Japanese surnames). Because I am unfamiliar with the proper use of terms like kun'yomi, on'yomi and ateji etc, I'll use layman terms to convey my thoughts.

Important: The funky english names are only meant to show you why some of these direct translations for the most part, prove to be a great disservice to the efforts Hololive and the girls put into their characters. Imagine trying to tell an outsider Subaru's translated name with a straight face, or even dare to explain it.

It is unclear what the original meaning is behind "Toki no". The most relevant part of her name is Sora, being blue like the sky. It appears that a past tweet from Yagoo and later another key staff might suggest that her name was originally meant to carry the hopes and dreams of Cover/Hololive. It's not in exact words, but suggested.

2) Roboco(-san) ( ロボ子 ) (Robot Child):

So yeah, I haven't been posting a lot on this thread during the whole fiasco but since I've seen some good 🍉's and today is supposed to be the last episode of QCYN3 I'll be sharing the ones I've seen most on twitter.. Idk if any of you guys follow this account too but I'll post it anyway~~

This may be a...weird question. So for back story, I am half Chinese and half...White (?). My dad is the Chinese part of me and it was really important in his family for the cousins and siblings to have similar middle names. So my brothers' middle names are Tian-Sang and Tian-Kwi (I have no idea if that how you spell it).

So here's the weird-ish part. I was born into a female body...but I'm a dude. So yeah, I'm trans. My current middle name is Lee-Hoa (I think this is the Vietnamese spelling of it, because I was born in Vietnam. My parent's say it mean "pretty as a flower") but I'm obviously gonna change it, and soon. I'm wanting to follow my family's names and have Tian-'something' but I don't know what that something would be. I've asked my parents for help but they don't know any other names and don't know Chinese (my dad literally only knows "ni hao...ma"). I'm wanting something that sorta follows the "theme" of Christianity or God, cause I think that's what my brothers' names are based around. I also want a name that sounds, you know, not stupid. Like I don't wanna walk around in China and have people thinking my name is dumb. Can anyone help? I'd really appreciate any suggestions.

Hey guys! With the release of Taeyong's new song Blue on SoundCloud, I thought it'd be nice to take a moment and appreciate some of NCT's most well-written songs in their discography. I think their reputation of being 'noise/experimental music' may make it difficult for some to appreciate the amazing lyrics in their tracks (especially their B-sides), so I wanted to dive in and list what I personally believe are some of their most beautiful and poignant lyrics/songs.

Some of my favourite lyrics of all time come from NCT U's Yestoday and Light Bulb - there's something so painfully raw and heart-breakingly honest about both songs, especially knowing that Taeyong wrote the lyrics as a struggling trainee. From the very beginning of Yestoday - "Shoved and pushed around / Filled with all these empty moments / Not feeling anymore now / In the midst of an abyss / I'm sorry for yesterday / But today's me doesn't know you, " there's a tone of regret regarding the past but a powerful conviction that he has changed for the better. "Throw away yesterday's you and me / It made me be the person who I am today" - there's a sense of appreciation for how the person he used to be played an integral role in the person he is today, without tying his current identity to his past self. This song has also helped me to do the same; to accept myself and my flaws, to forgive myself for the things I regret, and to move on to become a better person in the future.

Mark also participated in writing the lyrics of Yestoday: "Makes me think about how rap is my new 156 / For the future traded yesterday / If memories made me / Then we make today / I hope you like it where I am now." This line chokes me up a bit every time I hear it because it illustrates how far he's come since then (for context, 156 is the bus that he rode when he lived in Vancouver). I like to think that the amalgamation of English and Korean in the rap represents a mixture of his past (English) and present/future (Korean) self. "I hope you like it where I am now" - he hopes that his past self would be happy to know the person that he has become today.

I know that Taeyong isn't credited as a lyricist in Light Bulb (urgh!) but the song is essentially a more polished version of Switch Off, which he wrote and performed with Doyoung and Kun at the 2015 SM Rookies Show. "When you flicker you make (my heart) waver" - the song perfectly captures the

2 chinese cartoons i cant seem to remember the name of:

1. there is this blue turtle like character with a name of something like "Hama gui"(as in toad turtle) or "Hamba gui". there is also a robot side character with cannon like hands and i girl which i remember to have orange hair? I dont remember too much of the plot but i do remember part the main chorus of the opening theme went something like this: "hama gui wo ai ni, ai ni hui you hao yun qi" or something along those lines. I remember finding the theme on YT in the past but cant seem to find anymore.

2. i have a little less info for this one. I remember watching this in china around like 4-7 years ago and i remember an angel looking character with a third eye. and when he opened this eye, he got like powers or something. I think it was called like "tian yan" but googling that doesnt come up with anything. I do remember the plot of 1 ep where the MC had to drink a cup of milk every day and got a piece of candy afterwords from his grandma but he didnt like milk so he always pored it in the trash and one day he like got sick? or something.

Background

In the year 198 AD, Cao Cao and Liu Bei set out to eliminate the demon of the land, Lu Bu stationed at Xiapi Castle and raised a massive army to besiege him. Knowing of the overwhelming numerical advantage Cao Cao had over him, Lu Bu called upon all of his remaining allies to fight alongside him against their common foe. Among those who responded to his call to arms was the notorious chief of the Taishan Bandits, Zang Ba. In the past, Zang Ba pillaged the territories governed by Lu Bu and later bested his top general Gao Shun before they agreed to work together against the larger forces threatening their control of Xu Province.

Although Lu Bu was glad to have Zang Ba working alongside him, Zang Ba did not share the same sentiments. He knew of his ally's lack of restraint and strategic mind and became doubtful of their chances of repelling Cao Cao. In an attempt to raise the spirit of himself and his troops, Zang Ba began socializing with Lu Bu's generals and hearing their opinion of their lord. Eventually, he found himself intrigued by Zhang Liao, a long time subordinate of Lu Bu, but the arrival of enemy forces postponed their kindred discussion. Together with his strongest subordinates Yin Li and Sun Guan, the masterful Zhang Liao, and the powerful Gao Shun, Zang Ba braced himself for the coming siege and struggle that would accompany it.

Overview

Xiapi Castle is surrounded on all sides by Cao Cao's forces while Lu Bu's forces begin on the castle walls and will jump down to defend the north, west, and south gates. Zhang Liao leads the defense of the north gate alongside Song Xian, Wei Xu, Hou Cheng, and Hao Meng while Gao Shun leads the defense of the south gate with Lu Lingqi and Zhang Hu. Zang Ba and Yin Li protect the central/western gate from the main bulk of Cao Cao's army. Lu Bu, Chen Gong, and Diao Chan remain within the castle and instruct the defenders to capture the bases near the castle to cripple the enemies' morale and break the siege. If two allied officers or sub-officers are defeated at any gate, engineers will begin to advance and build siege rams.

Howdy yall!

With the recent release of the Fists of the Ruby Phoenix player's guide I suddenly found myself motivated to build out a level 11 character just in case I find myself lucky enough to play this AP at some point in the future. I haven't ever shared a character build on here before, but there's something about this guy that just demands I babble at somebody about him to try and further refine him. So instead of talking my friend's ears off, I decided to babble out into the void and see what it has to say back!

The Background

Harold Hopf (Filler Name) started as a simple concept, "I kinda want to build a flickmace human," which quickly took on a life of its own as I built him out, so much so that I'm fairly certain I want to drop the flickmace entirely in favor of leaning more into different parts of his character, especially as there are other gnomey weapons Harold doesn't need to take feats for he could wield instead when the fancy strikes him.

As he stands now, Harold is a Human Paladin of Ragathiel. As somebody that survived the Fall of Lastwall and found the will to fight as he escaped the Gravelands, he very quickly pledged himself to the remaining Knights of Lastwall and then took up the Crimson Oath to put his talents to their best use. If it weren't for the influence of another Lastwall survivor he'd have become your typical 'avenging angel' type, but the influence of an ever positive, ever eccentric Gnome he affectionately knows as Herr Doktor has given him a zest for life that simply refuses to be smothered by the horrors he's faced. He's traveled all the way to Tian Xia to join the tourney on the good Doktor's urging as "Hao Jin must have something hidden away in that vault that could help turn the tide, yes?" Harold isn't as sure, but figures even if Herr Doktor is wrong this might be a way to help secure allies and sponsors from across the sea to help finally reclaim the Gravelands and end the Whispering Tyrant once and for all!

For character creation Harold's obviously going to go start as Human with the Lastwall Survivor background. However, as his deep bond with Herr Doktor actually began before the Fall he's actually going to go with the Versatile Human heritage so he can scoop up Adopted Ancestry (Gnome) at level one and not have to worry about grabbing it later. April 21, 2021 - Consuming a diet high in pro-inflammatory foods - including foods that contain refined carbohydrates and sugar as well as polyunsaturated fats - may be associated with increased odds of developing testosterone deficiency among men, suggests a study in The Journal of Urology®, Official Journal of the American Urological Association (AUA). The journal is published in the Lippincott portfolio by Wolters Kluwer.

The risk of testosterone deficiency is greatest in men who are obese and consume a refined diet that scores high on the dietary inflammatory index (DII), according to the new research by Qiu Shi, MD, Zhang Chichen, MD, and colleagues of West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China. "While these findings do not prove causation, they do support previous research suggesting a pro-inflammatory diet can contribute to testosterone deficiency, among other potentially debilitating health issues," Drs. Qiu and Zhang comment.

G’day Singapore,

Coming back after almost 10 years away, one thing that struck me is the proliferation of regional Chinese food. Mala everywhere is the most visible manifestation, but the southern Chinese dishes we all know and love have been supplemented by restaurants serving up more or less unadulterated dishes from northern, northeastern, western and central parts of China. Yet since they cater mostly to recent immigrants, many of them are nearly invisible on the English-speaking Internet: they’re rarely covered by local bloggers, mostly missing from delivery services and often not even listed on Google Maps.

With my travel plans to China scotched by COVID-19 for the foreseeable feature, I figured I’d set a goal for myself: trot out my 非常不好 Mandarin and try to explore the food of every one of China’s 34 provinces right here in Singapore. Easy enough for Shanghai or Hong Kong; a bit more challenging for Guizhou or Anhui.

Below is my current plan of action, noting dishes & drinks to try and places to try them. (Places/dishes marked with a * I’ve already been to/eaten in China itself.) All things considered, I’d prefer to eat everyday/street/”real” food instead of fancy 5-star hotel restaurant stuff, but I’m open to everything.

But obviously I’m not really familiar with the vast majority of this, so I need your help finding places to go and things to eat! In particular, I’m currently drawing a complete blank for these:

示眾云。一向為人不知有己。直須盡法不管無民。須是拗折木枕惡手脚。臨 行之際合作麼生。

Devoted entirely to helping others, you don't know there is self; you should exert the law to the fullest, without concern that there be no people.

吾遷化後。不得滅却吾正法眼藏。 > (著甚死急)

聖便喝。 > (當機不讓父)

際云。誰知。吾正法眼藏向這瞎驢邊滅却。 > (重賞之下必有勇夫)
