Has MPEG-4 part 11 (Scene description and application engine) ever been used anywhere?
MPEG-4 Part 11 was basically an idea that video players should not only play videos, but also animate them - kind of like vector graphics is just instructions on how and where to draw shapes. I found it absolutely bizarre, especially seeing how computer animations looked like back in 2005. I sent myself into a rabbit hole in order to find any video that has actually used these options, but I found only one website with a few demos, which were a showcase by some company that has already disbanded. I have sent an email to one of the founders of the company, but I still didn't get any reply.
Part 11 was member of MPEG-4 standard for 10 years, how is it possible that no trace of it exists?
Edit: added a bit more info
Edit 2: spelling

How Much More Efficient is AV1 Over MPEG-2 Part 2?
AV1, compared to the compression used on DVD format; what percent size of the original would it be? AV1 Maybe 10% of MPEG-2 Size?
Has anyone gotten this data? I know it could vary by resolution and quality. But let's say imperceivable quality loss ( not the low quality seen on streaming services, but the high quality seen on Blu-ray for example)
I also believe all of these compression technologies have lower efficiency improvement at high quality as seen on discs of say 20/30% over previous generation. Where if you set quality to say 70% of original like on streaming service you get 50% efficiency savings. It isn't linear.
960x540 is an interesting resolution to ask this question for with, considering the comparison to MPEG-2 because it would probably fit well on a DVD with a modern codec like AV1.
It is better than DVD-Video resolution, but not HD. It actually would have made a great resolution for a Super-DVD format that could have been released in 2001 if MPEG-4 Part 2 (Divx / Xvid) (before AVC MPEG-4 Part 10) could have handled it, which I'm also wondering if it could have, but that is another question.
That would have been an interesting alternate future. AV1 might not even fill a DVD-5 at 960x540 3 hour movie full quality, not sure. Do you?

Converting to .avi codec mpeg-4 but quality is horrible, tips?
Hi guys, i have a film compressed in h264, and i want to share it with my aunt. The problem is, her television is old, not a crt still has usb ports and the possibility to play media via external memories, but pretty much all of the "new" codecs are a big no, h264 has problems in playback and h265 is unplayable. I was trying to convert it to .avi mpeg-4, but the quality is really horrible, it's 720p but unwatchable. Is there some way to convert it to a higher quality instead of the standard one? I was using a very simple ffmpeg -i input.mkv output.avi so anything will be better i hope.

ELI5: What are MPEG-4 / MPEG-3 etc, and MPEG-H and their "parts"?
For example, can you take a RAW file, encode it in any encoding (such as HEVC), then just wrap it in MPEG-4 part 14? (mp4) Or does that not make any sense from a technical standpoint?
I'm also confused about the term "codec". I've it used as an idea (a method of compression), and to refer to a piece of compressed data. Which is it?
Lastly, why are there so many formats / codecs? Why can't everyone just agree on a single standard? Are some better in certain scenarios?
