A list of puns related to "Mount Carmel Area High School"
Where he will replace his former coach Frank Lenti (who is retiring) at his High School Alma Mater, per [Josh Tolentino of the Daily Chronicle] (http://www.daily-chronicle.com/2017/12/29/niu-football-jordan-lynch-to-become-new-head-coach-at-mount-carmel-high-school/dezye92/?page=1).
Lynch is obviously best known for his run as QB at NIU from 2009-2013, and his third place finish in the 2013 Heisman Ballot.
Today is Rick Mount's birthday (Jan. 5, 1947). I'm not going to make a full-on profile for him since his pro career wasn't much, but I wanted to bring him up to see what details and stories people can share.
If you don't know the legend of Rick Mount, here is his wikipedia entry, with key details such as:
He was the first HS athlete to ever appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated.
While in HS in Indiana, he once scored 57 points in a super high-profile game and was named the national player of the year as a senior.
At Purdue, he was 1st-team All-America as a junior and senior, and 3rd-team as a sophomore.
At Purdue, he set numerous scoring records (college stats - 29, 33, 35 ppg), plus he was a tremendous shooter who would sometimes make double-digit amount of shots from 3-point distance. He was arguably the 3rd-best college player during his time at Purdue ('68-70), behind all-time legends Lew Alcindor and Pete Maravich.
He lead Purdue to the 1969 national championship game, where they lost to Alcindor's UCLA Bruins. Here is a picture of Mount being guarded by Alcindor in that game. Mount scored 28 points in the championship finals while Alcindor had 37.
Mount was the #1 pick in the 1970 ABA draft by the Indiana Pacers, and he signed with them before the NBA draft so they left him alone until the Lakers used a throw-away 8th round pick to select his NBA rights.
He was only so-so in the ABA (career stats - 12 ppg over 5 seasons, won a title with the Pacers in '72), and I've read before that he was in his head about expectations and basically just "overthought" his way into mediocrity. His much less heralded Purdue teammate Bill Keller played with him for a season or two in the ABA, and Keller was a scrappy little PG who ended up being a much better shooter than Mount in the ABA.
Hi. This is my first time posting, so please be kind. I'm writing this because I feel like this should be public knowledge given the concerning rates of covid we're experiencing. The health department has already been contacted. It's unfortunate that we're at a point where this kind of treatment of employees in an at-will state during a pandemic isn't news. But here we are.
Anyway. I know somebody who works at carmel high school. This is my informant. I guess for the whole year, they've been alternating days where half the student body stays home for e-learning, and the other half goes in person. I've been told that 60+ teachers are out either quarantining or with covid. They have since hired 50 PTO members to cover classes due to the large absence of teachers. And yet, they're still open.
Employees receive only 10 paid covid days. The person I know has used the majority of these days from previously quarantining after being exposed to another employee. Now, this person is being tested AGAIN and is expected to work while waiting for the results. So what happens in those days if this person is positive? This is why our hospitals are all at their tipping points. Yet, Carmel high school is still open.
I'm sorry if this post doesn't belong here. But this is the shit they're trying so hard to keep under wraps. It's happening everywhere and I'm losing my damn mind!
