So I live in Morris County (roughly around the Florham Park/Chatham area. Really looking to play more but happy to start up a new campaign too.
So here's a bit about me. This is long, but if you brave to the end, you win a cookie. ;)
I'm mostly a DM but far from burnt out. I've run campaigns that spanned several years and just finished up a 2 yr run. As a player, I'm mature, respectful, and not over the top politically correct. As a DM I subscribe to the old school concept that the DM is the single final arbiter of the rules. When I play I don't expect to make rulings and try to create plot. I play in the world the DM created. I share the spotlight and hope everyone else does too. Everyone should have their moments. I expect the same from players if I'm the DM. If it works for you, great, but its not for me if you feel that players are just as much world creators as DM's. Creative plot drivers, yes! Player licence takes the game in unexpected directions, but I feel strongly that there is one DM and there's a separation of responsibilities in the group dynamic. If that doesn't jibe with you, no hard feelings.
If I'm DMing, a solid no to any overbearing players who try to be rules lawyers, the alternate DM, tell others how to play or talk down to a player who did something you disagree with. Weak spirited types who whine and bitch when facing a tough challenge are clearly not welcome at the table (unless you are roleplaying Hudson from Aliens). Table-flippers enter at your own personal peril.
My ideal group would be those who want to save 1-2 weekend days/month for a solid 8 hour session, and show up on time ;P If its your game, I'm cool with whatever the time frame, but I just don't see 2-4 hours being enough to get much done in a session (I've seen combats go for a few hours). I like deeply intricate stories that really bring out the roleplay, and I work hard to instill that into my games. When I'm a player, I'm a team player. Not a recluse lone-wolf type, not a murder hobo either. As a player I appreciate great stories, challenging combats, complex worlds. I'm partial to laying with mini's and terrain, but that's not a deal breaker (I did theater of the mind of a few decades). Maybe its b/c I'm also a longtime wargamer too, or perhaps that I have a ridiculous collection of mins and terrain ;)
Either as a player or as a DM, I prefer long term campaigns, with the idea (dream?) that it lasts well into the Epic levels, even to 20 on occasion. Sure,
