There have been rumors of a possible expansion, so let’s imagine it does happen, but the NBA decides to only add one new team to the league (sorry Vegas), bringing back the beloved Seattle Supersonics. The Sonics are back babbyyyyyyyy!

Now the Sonics need to build their team from ground up, starting with the expansion draft, and following it with signing players in the off-season.

Here are some simplified terms of the expansion draft:

1. All 30 NBA teams will have the right to protect 8 players on their roster. Anyone on the current roster is protectable, including restricted free agents. If a restricted free agent is left unprotected by his former team, he is available for selection by the Supersonics, who would then hold his Bird Rights for the up-coming off-season. Teams will typically have 4-7 players unprotected. Unrestricted free agents can neither be protected from nor selected in the expansion draft -- they are essentially ignored.
   Players who are likely to be left unprotected by their former teams include aging, overpaid veterans, unproven bench players, players who do not fit in financially with their team, or who disrupt team chemistry.
2. The Sonics may only select 1 player per team.
3. The Sonics must work within 2/3 of the normal rules of the NBA salary cap, so there will be salary-related restrictions which apply to the team's selections. The team’s salary cap for the 2022-2023 season will only be 2/3 of the league cap (112.414 million), meaning 74.93 million. The minimum team salary is also 2/3 of the leagues' minimum team salary (101.173 million), meaning 67.449 million.
   The expansion draft occurs after the conclusion of the 2022 NBA Finals, but prior to the 2022 NBA Draft. The Sonics do not participate in the lottery, but automatically get the 5th and the 35th pick of the draft.
4. There are no restrictions on player positions during the draft.
5. The Sonics must select at least 14 players.
6. Here is a list of the players that each NBA team are, in my opinion, likely to protect, and a list of those who may be left unprotected (not all players are listed, but most of them, and all that have any chance of being drafted by an expansion team):

• He looks to be in that starting role for the Hornets and could be on the receiving end of a lot of passes from both Lamelo and Terry

Tyrese Maxey (5.3% rostered ESPN)

• With the entire Ben Simmons situation goin on it is still very unclear what will happen with him
• If Simmons is not on the floor Maxey is likely to start at point guard
• He only started eight games last season, but averaged 18.6 pts on 50% in those eight games and also added 4.3 rbs and 3.9 asts
• Maxey playing starter minutes could be a lethal addition to any fantasy lineup
• In the six games last season where he played between 30 and 39 minutes he aevraged 5 asts in 6 games

Serge Ibaka (12.3% rostered ESPN)

• Ibaka only played 41 games last season due to injury
• With Kawhi injured this season there could be more minutes and offensive opportunities in the clippers frontcourt for Ibaka to bounce back if he can stay healthy
• Last season he averaged 11/1 pts, 6.7 rbs, and 1.1 blk a game
• I expect both his points and rebounds to both bump up slightly
• Definitely more value in a CAT league

Scottie Barnes (62.9% rostered ESPN)

• Surprising many the raptors went ahead and drafted Scottie Barnes with the fourth overall pick in this years draft
• Barnes has drawn point forward comparisons to Draymond Green, because they both play all around games and do not rely on scoring to bring the majority of their

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. Prior to the start of the regular season, we released the list of player ratings for NBA 2K22. Naturally, there were some surprises and some snubs, but with two weeks of games under our belt, we can now reassess the ratings. Paul George, SF, Los Angeles Clippers: 90 OVR (+2)

It’s early, but right now, Paul George is averaging the most points of his career at 28.3 per game. Expected to carry the Clippers without Kawhi Leonard, PG has answered the call so far this season, even if it hasn’t translated to wins yet. The Los Angeles native has high expectations this season and is viewed by many as a potential MVP candidate. PG is rolling with a full head of steam, let’s see if he can keep it going.

Karl-Anthony Towns, C, Minnesota Timberwolves: 89 OVR (+2)

KAT is undeniably one of the best big men in the game and has a knack for scoring from virtually anywhere on the court. It should come as no surprise that he’s posting his typical numbers of 24 points, nearly 10 rebounds, and four assists per game, but what he’s doing from an efficiency standpoint is insane. He’s currently shooting 52 percent from the field and knocking down 50 percent of his three point attempts, let that sink in. Between KAT and Anthony Edwards, the Timberwolves might make some noise this year.

Yesterday I bought a beautiful old Carmelite breviary. Now only when I looked at it in detail at home, I discovered the 'Pars Verna' part ('spring part'); after the Ordinarium divini Officii i.e., the Ordinary, it contains the Propers for Lent and Eastertide, and the saints who fall in this part of the calendar. I was a bit sad, because while I thought I could pray the Divine Office with this Breviary, it's only 1/4 of a whole Breviary. Do you know if I could still pray with the Breviary in Ordinary Time, by using the Ordinarium divini Officii, or are the psalmodies/antiphons/prayers not compatible in that case? If not, I'll stick to the Officium parvum B. Mariæ Virginis which I was happy to find in the back (the Little Office is not tied to any particular liturgical season, right?)

NBA is a star-driven league. You have your LeBrons, your Kobes, your Duncans and your Jordans. You can't win without them. In fact, it has been said that you can’t win an NBA title without having one of the top 10 players in the league. Generational players have always been the base of a perennial contender. Or a contender generally. There have been teams constructed around non-superstars, such as the Horford-Millsap-Korver Hawks, or the DeRozan-Lowry Raptors, but what these teams share is that they ultimately always ended up short.

So, at first, I asked myself if it was possible to make a contender out of players who aren’t among the best two players on their team. It turns out that the answer to that question is an easy yes. You still have the likes of Kyrie, Klay (or Draymond), Jrue, Tobias (or Simmons), Ayton, Westbrook, Capela, etc. either starting or coming off the bench. So, if you made a 12-men roster out of these, the sheer number of all-stars would ultimately be the difference maker.

Therefore, I decided to take this thought experiment up a notch and make it more challenging. I decided to see what the best iteration of a team made of players that aren’t the first, the second, nor the third best player on their current team is. I asked myself if it was possible to make a contender out of players who are not in the top 3 players on their own teams.

Before I propose a team, let me list the best players eligible for this experiment. The best 3 players on each team are in brackets, and, in many cases, it wasn’t really clear who would be considered the 3rd and who the 4th best player, which makes the experiment a bit more random, but bear with me:

Atlanta is young and good at the same time, there aren't really any actual pieces they should move on from, and tbh there are only a few pieces that wouldn't matter either way. I will point out Solomon Hill as being someone who would only take away minutes from someone more worthy of the playing time. Unless they are absolutely demolished by injuries he probably shouldn't see the floor.

Boston Celtics

Time to get crazy! I hate this roster construction and am of the opinion that Brown and Tatum aren't the ideal fit. I have Boston choosing Tatum over Brown in the long run (I personally like Brown more, but most would want Tatum). Some of the younger pieces with talent and potential stay like Timelord, Grant, and Pritchard, as well as some pieces that are extremely good in what they do in Horford, Smart, and Schroder. Finding better fits around them and focusing on playmaking being the priority would make this tea much better. They move on from Brown in this case to try a different fit from a high caliber player, and Richardson fits the Smart role, and I don't think he would be utilized very well on this roster with Smart already doing what he would be doing, but worse at this point.

Hi guys, I'm from Australia where we have a State of Origin competition for rugby league and formerly our own code of football. Basically, you represent the state where you played junior footy and I've made an NBA version for the last couple of years, so here's my latest edition.

Players represent their 'state of origin', and I have used the state they played high school ball in to decide which state they represent. I am mindful of prep and boarding schools so I have used common sense; for example D'Angelo Russell grew up in Kentucky, spent 1 year at a Kentucky high school and then 3 at the Montverde Academy in Florida, he would play for Kentucky in this scenario.
