A list of puns related to "Monster Hunter Stories"
I'm really confused by people's arguments on this on two points. Aside from this I can acknowledge some flaws that capcom could have done better in on my last point.
1.Pure number of hours in a game (which is good value and what should determine if this game should have had update 2.0 and update 3.0 on release, if a game is incomplete, it should feel so in that there's NOT enough content, but clearly rise had PLENTY of content on release).
Assuming you got to end of story it should have taken you 50+ hours or more to get to Narwa and probably a lot more if you actually cared about maxing out your equipment in a specific way. A good value game these days is like 100+ hours and somehow this doesn't make the game complete if you don't have all your Apex monsters immediately, you don't have elders immediately. I was at 100+ hours without the two updates easily. Why does that entitle us to these updates being on release?
Monster hunter Rise had more monsters in pure content than world on release. I genuinely am confused and would love to hear explanations as to why Monster Hunter rise is somehow incomplete (unless their argument is completely based on incomplete story which I can totally get). Not only did Monster hunter rise have MORE monsters to fight with, but we're getting substantially better updates than we did in world. World has a incredibly BAD update schedule. We got a deviljho 2 months after world released. You want to complain about update schedule but..... if we're looking at capcom's history, this really makes no sense at all. Teostra, Kushala, Apex Rathian and Apex Mitsuzune all were solid content and was pretty much knocked it out of the park compared to a 2 MONTH LATER Deviljho on world.
I originally bought 3DS consoles to exclusively to play Pokemon X/Y after a long hiatus. I had always had at least two 3DS consoles just so I could do trading and acquire all version-exclusives. I have all 3DS Pokemon games and have a stable of competitive Pokemon, ready to battle. That's how much I was into the series. Recently, after the disappointing announcement for Pokemon Sword and Shield, I started exploring other similar games to see what they offer.
After racking 300+ hours in Monster Hunter: World and falling in love with its monster designs and lore, I decided to try Monster Hunter Stories and currently I'm 30 hours in. It really lives up its name as the "story" feels more connected than Pokemon and it's converted its battle mechanics into turn-based quite enjoyably. I'm impressed by the monster animations and cutscenes, something that Pokemon games truly fall behind.
After hearing a lot about Yokai Watch, I've started dabbling into it. Upon starting YW1, I realised how fleshed out the houses and town are, compared to a collection of tiny settlements in Pokemon. The house has realistic floorplan complete with bathroom, master bedroom, etc, instead of Pokemon's oversimplified house and building designs. It makes the world more immersive and relatable.
Just by playing these two games, I've learned how backward Pokemon game design has always been. Game Freak lacks innovation and often cuts desirable features. The Pokemon franchise has the largest fanbase due to first-to-market advantage, leveraging on nostalgia by older players (who have now become adults with disposable income), and Pokemon Go, which has drawn many new bloods (and their wallet). However, at its core is an outdated game that has lost its soul and passion.
I haven't played Shin Megami Tensei series yet, but from what I've experienced with MHST and Yokai Watch, I truly believe Level-5 and Capcom deserve more recognition within monster-collecting playerbase. Here's hoping for MHST successor and the financial success of Yokai Watch 4.
EDIT: Dragon Ball Fusions seems to be another similar title on 3DS.
I'm currently playing monster hunter stories, and I'm really enjoying it, but I'm not here to talk about how good that game is. I'm here to talk about the similarities between it and pokemon sw and sh, and how game freak should have made it an example of how to make their game better.
MHST has about one hundred monsters that you can catch and or train - or hatch to be precise - and each monster has something called a Riding skill that let it do something outside of battle. For example, a monster could jump - with you on it - to climb hills, or swim, dig tunnels, break rocks, climb vines, swim, and even fly. Basically, they are HM in the monster hunter world, and I wonder why we couldn't do the same thing with our pokemon in sword and shield instead of using a super full option bicycle that could do everything - who wouldn't want to fly over the wild area on a charizard's back for example. Game freak don't realise that people don't hate HMs because of the HMs themselves, they hate them because they take a move slot from the pokemon. If they just changed this and made the HM like a second ability like what MHST did, I'm sure that would have made the game more likeable.
The second thing I want to talk about, is that MHST has dens in the over world, just like pokemon sw and sh. The difference between them however, is that the dens in MHST are random generated dungeons full of monsters, gathering points, and eggs - it's also where you can get your monsters. On the other hand, the dens in sw and sh just contain a raid battle. If game freak wants to make bigger open world areas in the next gen games, they need to let go of raid battles and at least make the dins similar to what MHST have, or devise something better in my opinion.
Sorry for the bad English. What's your options in this matter.
Spoilers for those who haven't finished Chapter 11!!11
For those of us who have gone through the story in full, we would've realised by now that the empire is engaged in a full on genocidal campaign on dragonkind, with the use of androids being just 1 example of the weapons they are now employing. These have worked fantastically well against most dragons throughout the empire, with the notable exception of those aligned with the Halidom.
In light of this, I speculative that part of the collab's story will revolve around the empire summoning monster hunters with the explicit idea of taking out the dragons that have or may be on the verge of aligning themselves with us. For any1 who has played the monster hunter series, you'll know that hunters are real good at taking down large creatures, including their world's elder dragons, some of which can be classified as literal living disasters by some. If they can take down something like a Fatalis, nothing in the world of Dragalia is likely capable of stopping them on its own.
Perhaps the first hint of what is to come may be from a dragon fleeing from them, perhaps that is the welfare Rathalos that has been advertised?
Like Path of Exile, but it doesn't look like it's from 1990.
Thanks for the Silver. :)

Got some money to get a game so Iβm thinking between these two. Enjoyed the dem for monster hunter stories, and KOTOR look quite fun. Which should I get?
I saw it on Reddit a couple years ago. Basically a group of human children from 2-10 in age or so are living in a cave with a monster who cares for them. This creature is semi-humanoid, kinda like a yeti. She has several breasts she nurses the kids from.
A hunter tracks her down and kills her and we think heβs the bad guy because she cares for the kids. But then we learn the creature had been kidnapping those kids and the hunter was hired by local villagers to find the creature and their missing children.
Help? It was in black and white if that helps.
Tell me your best hunting stories. Almost running out of time. Fastest kill. Anything.
Tl;dr Monster Hunter Stories is amazing and better than PokΓ©mon in every fucking way.
So ages ago, around the time I had started 4u, I played the demo for stories. It was ok. All I got was an Aptonoth and a Velocidrome which were kind of lame considering I wanted an Azure Rathalos (yes my expectations were unrealistic). I put the demo down and didn't bother with it.
Ages later, I bought PokΓ©mon Moon to try out the games. It was fucking terrible. Battle animations were lame. They either consisted of a PokΓ©mon moving slightly and the other side taking damage, or shooting a random energy wave or projectile. The exploration was shit; all the areas were very linear. Also I could not see the story going anywhere. It just seemed to be 'Go and defeat these island challengers to prove yourself'. I'm pretty sure there was supposed to be something going on with Lillie later down the line but oh well. Also the game was very poorly optimised. Frame rate drops everywhere if there were three or more PokΓ©mon onscreen. The game was lame and it turned me away from PokΓ©mon. Only cool thing was that my Litten was cute and that the in-game time would be the opposite of real life time.
Recently I got Monster Hunter Stories. This was ages after finishing 4u and starting GU. I've been suffering action game burnout and I wanted an RPG to try, so I got Monster Hunter Stories on mobile.
Holy fucking shit it's so good. The combat is interesting, the battle animations are very smooth and brutal - although this was because they were ripped right from the games. The monster models were really nice and you could actually create your character. Also the monsties you could get... Right now in my party I have a Pink Rathian, a Red Khezu (really good if you can get him early on), a Black Diablos, a Shrouded Nerscylla, a Qurupeco and another I won't mention for story purposes. How cool is that? And you can ride them and take advantage of their abilities.
The plot is also quite interesting. I won't get into it because I'm bad at summarising plots but it's similar to 4u's story in a way. Also the companion character isn't annoying. I wish more people played this game. I'm 20 hours in and I already feel like I have my money's worth. The areas are quite large and open but also interesting.
The reason I keep comparing this game to PokΓ©mon moon is because both games are similar to eachother; raising beasts and using them to fight other beasts. However one game feels so much higher quality

Monster Hunter World is my first Monster Hunter and it's one of my favorit Games of all time. I have currently 800h+ playtime with MR 250 and HR 510.
The Monster Hunter Series has some pretty Interesting Lore / Background Stories. I have already read some stuff on reddit but i know i'm missing some because i've never played a mh before. For example i've read about the fatalis armor, that it takes control over the hunter and grows back to a Fatalis or something like this.
So I just want to ask you, if you have some interesting stories you can tell me. I'd like to read about anything from Details from Monsters to Cities or whatsoever. What is your favorite lore / Background Story?
Weβve all heard the clamoring for an open-world style PokΓ©mon game in the breathtaking and adventurous style of Breath of the Wild. But hereβs the deal: Capcom already made this game, for both Nintendo 3DS and mobile devices, and you forgot to play it.
In fact, nearly everyone ignored this high budget, Monster-battling, turn based, open environment game. Its sales were very mediocre. Why did everyone ignore this game theyβre all begging Nintendo/Game Freak/Bethesda to make?? Maybe you were just sleepy, and forgot, but itβs okay - you can still play the game youβre desperately wishing to play.
Hereβs everything you missed out on:
Monsters that always follow you around, and yeah, you can ride on them - and even fly on them
And no; itβs not just a few select baby forms. Every monster follows you around faithfully, and adorably, and like a good monster, assists you as you explore the world around you. So, say you need to get across that river? Your water-breathing friend lets you jump right on his back. Say you want that item hidden on a hill? Your winged friend can soar with you right over there. Say you want a good buddy to look cute and maybe help you find some rare treasure? Heβs totally willing to hook you up. And look super cute doing it.
Open, expansive terrain with wild monsters roaming across it
We have big open fields, glaciers with frozen rivers, gigantic cities full of people living their lives, and one of my personal favorites - a cherry blossom forest thatβs a really fantastic napping spot, for both you and drowsy giants. Itβs just a great napping spot. The world is fantastical, alive, and incredible to explore. Its full of different ecosystems each with their sets of creatures living inside it. While each region might follow certain patterns, it can be difficult to predict what kind of monster is hiding behind each new curve of the mountain. The ecosystems are segmented from each other, but thatβs just so that our Pink Mom Friend can finish her nap without any dumb people waking her up. Sheβs sleepy. Let her rest.
Super cool monsters with lots of types, battle techniques, and varieties
Thereβs a gold dragon in it. And a fluffy battle unicorn. And a gigantic electric wolf. And a flying sabre tooth tiger. Thatβs just cool. Thatβs super cool. Thereβs tons of awesome or funny or beautiful creatures. And every monster will fight with its own unique moves, battle styles, and typings. There is, in fact, a pink gorilla who speciali

Seeing if anybody has any experience playing either one and if so, possibly giving me a rundown on what they like and what they didnβt like. I also already have Pascalβs Wager pre-ordered as insurance against boredom. Thanks for your insight and time.

Long time fan of the MonHun games, I got into Made in Abyss through the anime, and immediately liked it - well for a lot of reasons, it's an amazing manga and show - but especially because of the similarities between the two. the way the society revolves around the abyss and delvers like the one in MonHun does around hunters and monsters. the utilization of the environment and it's creatures by the humans that try to conquer it. the strange, beautiful, deadly fauna and flora. this is most true in the first arcs, having read the scans for the story past the anime it has a progressive change of focus that I equally like.
sooo anyway those were my thoughts on that, what do you guys think
#On this day (December 8) in Nintendo history...
Custom Robo was released in 1999 for the Nintendo 64 in Japan. In this action RPG game, developed by Noise, it's your birthday and you have received a miniature robot named Ray, your very first Custom Robo. The Custom Robos are modifiable battle robots used in battle arenas. You set out to become a Custom Robo master. In the Tournament Mode, you have to find opponents to battle Ray against.
A second wave of Monster Hunter Stories amiibo Figures* was released in 2016 in Japan and included Rathian and Cheval; Barioth and Ayuria and Qurupeco and Dan.
What are you favourite memories of these games? How do you think they hold up today? Hash it out in the comments.
(I am a bot. I think that I'm posting Nintendo events from this day in history, but if I've made a mistake or omission please leave a comment tagging /u/KetchupTheDuck).
I had no idea that this even existed. I am aware there are some manga based on the monster hunter world though. I only found this because I wanted to see if Monster Hunter World could be played on my (potato) laptop using the Xbox Game Pass thing. It can't, but that is how I found the anime Monster Hunter Stories: Ride On and that there are 4 seasons. I have the game but haven't finished it yet, has anyone watched the anime? Just by reading the plot on wikipedia, it seems to follow the events of the game. Does the anime follow the events of the game EXACTLY or is it different?
Edit: Microsoft says there are 4 seasons (48 episodes in total), Wikipedia says 1 season consisting of 48 episodes.
Monster Hunter stories is an rpg based on the Monster Hunter IP and was released in Japan in 2016 but was released in the west last year. While the game is an rpg it is not a typical turn based rpg instead is a mix of Pokemon and a rock paper scissors system however this is a very basic explanation as the system gets a lot deeper especially in the rider battles.
I feel the game excels in both game play and the game world with battles feeling very fast paced and somewhat tense when facing a monster that is one of the special version or fighting other riders in tournaments. One detail that I think adds to the game is that the enemies and even your monsters will change their appearance depending on abilities for example using ice armor will add ice to your monster which looks cool and makes the game feel more immersive but that might just be me. It is details like this that make the game world feel alive as to me it feels like other games like Pokemon have an animation but actual effect which makes it seem like it didn't have an effect.
One other huge difference between this and pokemon is that while in Pokemon you mostly need to go into grass to encounter wild pokemon while in MHS you just need to explore the small areas to find where the monster you are looking for spawns and then walk into it. This is one of the best things about the game as it makes the games world feel alive and like the monster seem like they actually belong in the world
One negative is that I have heard the game runs poorly on non new model 3ds however I cant comment on this as I have only played on the new 3ds xl so maybe be cautious if you don't own a new 3ds.
Sorry to ramble but this has to be one of my favorite 3ds games and it feels like it came out got good reviews and then kinda burned out quickly. So yeah this post is just me expressing my enjoyment of the game and hopefully it convinces some to try the game. Also sorry for any grammar errors and please let me know your feelings on the games.
