A list of puns related to "Mission To The Unknown"
Just a thought since thereβs Venus/Black Garden hype in Shadowkeep. And Mercury desperately needs something other than creating event variations of the Infinite Forest.
Edit: This blew up, wow! Shadowkeep hype!
I know that Front Mission 3 is known to a certain degree, but I am really struggling to find anything related to 1.
A while ago I finished the Main Campaign and started the second scenario (NA DS Version) and I am still blown away and thinking about the game on an almost daily basis.
I mean the plot really isnt anything special, the gameplay is "solid" and the skills are kinda wonky but the execution is so damn good, especially the level/map design is above average for the time.
Checklist:
Has a 90's Anime Main Villain that you want to punch in the face.
Political Intrigue
"War is bad" The protag and the characters are even somewhat realistic given the circumstances, no happy go lucky "lets save the world!".
Amazing mech customization for a retro SNES Game.
One underrated OST (Dat battle theme)
Dat Ending (No spoilers)
So I am wondering. Whats the reason that this gem kinda went unnoticed? Bad marketing? Too complex? Too boring for the masses? Too retro? Too slow because the battle animations take forever?
If anyone got an idea or has some interviews regarding the series, or just likes the game as much as I do, I would be happy to see/hear stuff about it. ;D
Theory: The F-18s that appear at the second half of the mission are not Eursians but are Oseans
Proof: The F-18s had Osean markings
>"The devs reuse assets all the time, so they probably took the Osean skin to portray Erusians"
They could have, but with the amount of tiny details in this game, it is highly unlikely as the Oseans have also used F-18s prominently throughout the campaign. While the Erusians also deployed F-18s; examples:
Mission 16 / Last Hope (There are around 6 F-18s outside of the 3 escorts that show up later) and Mission 19 / Lighthouse, they were in smaller numbers and have their own skin and Eursian Air Force markings, as shown in the two examples. The details are even on the smaller scale in fact that the F-18 escort drones does not have a pilot inside them
>"They could have been Erusians committing war crimes under false flag"
This could have been likely, but why would the Erusians shoot Helios missiles when there's an allied squadron operating in the area? The answer is simple; they wouldnt - because there is no Erusian squadron operating in the area. At this point of the war, the Erusians are winning the war - there doesnt seem to be any reason why they would commit a war crime and turn public opinion against them when they have the advantage.
>"But the general said Erusians managed to create fake IFFs - that's why they appeared as friendlies"
Also a possibility, however, this was applied only on the drones that appeared in Mission 4/Rescue (See more here on this thread about the details on that mission). We dont get any other encounters like this again in the game.
With that aside, why would Oseans shoot the 444th down?
My conspiracy theory is that Base Commander / Mckinsey ordered the 444th to be shot down - specifically Trigger. Mckinsey seems to ha
... keep reading on reddit β‘I go through the rest of the mission fine but this goddamn drone at the end. I genuinely have 0 clue as to how to fight that thing. I have landed hits on it before but it just seems pure luck. They say there is a pattern in how it flies but the only patern i see is me being a terrible pilot and being unable to hit it while it stays on my ass until the mission timer runs out. How do you defeat this thing?
I like the idea of having a playable scenario to introduce mostly unknown/nexus-born heroes by playing a single-player/co-op mission, where you get to know them a little bit better. Orphea got her comics and that was a neat try, but I know from Splatoon 2, that everything that's outside of the game, has a chance to be missed by the player. Beside that, I don't know anything about Qhira. She feels like a blank canvas to me, that was created to fill a role in the hero-pool. (I don't think she is badly designed or anything. She just seemingly has not much lore to her.)
So that's what me got thinking: What if we could get a story-based scenario to get to know these characters? I bet, a lot more people would give nexus-born heroes a chance, if there was a chance to get invested in them. For Orphea it could have been a mission, where her goal is to defeat the raven lord. Qhira could have gotten a "defend the city"-mission (or whatever happened, that destroyed it).
This could be taken to multiplayer, by building it into a raid. E.g. Defeat the raven lord as a team of 5 or make it into an event like hearthstone and give him an insane healthbar and you have to inflict as much damage as you can before being saved by Orphea/The Gravekeeper(Raven Lord's nemesis). The raid boss health would be bound to the different regions or something like that.
I like, what they did with Sgt. Hammer and Lt. Morales, where they got their own co-op mission in sc2. Blaze is a little bit on the lighter part by just being one of Tychus pals, but at least it's something?
Maybe I just want HotS to be something more (or something it isn't supposed to be).

In the unknown person missions is it possible to start the mission with Arthur and then continue it with John?
We're calling our spaceship the Apollo-G.
