#####Overview
The TF-2000 is Turkeyβs largest domestically designed frigate to date, and undoubtedly its most ambitious. It is envisioned to be the largest warship of the MILGEM project, and is primarily focused on providing anti-air warfare capabilities to the Turkish Navy, seeking an outright upgrade to the current AAW services provided by the G-classes. However, the TF-2000 will also have capabilities for surface warfare (utilising the upgrade AtmacaX, detailed below), anti-submarine warfare, and electronic warfare. Moreover, the ship will be able to lead smaller subsidiary ships (such as the Istanbul and Ada) with command, control and communications, reconnaissance, and early warning functions.
The ships are also to be marketed for international export, aiming to compete with the European FREMM, and the Chinese 052D Destroyer, with an affordable export price tag of $535mn. The Turkish Naval Forces have ordered a total of 7 TF-2000 frigates, which will eventually be christened the βDragut-classβ. The Ministry of National Defence plans to have the ship ready to be laid down in 2022, and commissioned in 2026.
