\"Talk is cheap, it takes money to buy whiskey\" - Ryan Cohen
Ryan Cohen was the CEO of Chewy, an e-commerce company specializing in pets, which he founded when he was just 25 years old. In 2017, he sold Chewy to PetSmart in a $3.3 billion deal to pursue other personal goals.
Then Ryan Cohen's investor side began to gain notoriety. After selling Chewy, he invested his money in only two companies Apple and Wells Fargo. In Apple, he even became the largest single investor with about 6 million shares.
By the end of 2020, Cohen had also become GameStop's largest single shareholder after acquiring 10% of GME's stock and subsequently increasing his stake to about 13%. These investments were made before the extraordinary price explosion in GameStop stock in late January 2021. Shortly thereafter in April, he was named charmain of the board of directors. (Excerpt from TheStreet article)
Ryan Cohen articulates his investment approach as follows:
>It's very hard, at least for me, to find great ideas. When I find something I'm really convinced of, I go all-in. (Excerpt from Bloomberg article)
However, when Ryan Cohen started Chewy in 2011, he was rejected by most investors....
>Friedman: You were rejected by 100 different investors. What did you learn from that process? What made you keep going when you kept hearing no?
>
>Cohen: To me, every no sounded like they just didn't understand my vision. That was frustrating at times, but never discouraging. Those "no's" never made me doubt my strategy - quite the opposite. All the rejections motivated me, and they only spurred me on. (Excerpt from Forbes interview)
He goes on to say that
>Cohen: Most investors couldn't overcome two hurdles: direct competition with Amazon and the failure of pets.com during the dot-com bubble. However, I believed that
... keep reading on reddit β‘I will start with a classical disclaimer that I am a completely smooth-brained EU silverback. However, sometimes it happens that I have a spark in my brain and then I can generate a single smart idea like once in a year or smth. This time I think I cracked the 7 4 1 code, at least this sounds like a very good and simple explanation to me.
As you can see here are 7 companies that together create a GameStop family. I think in 2021, GameStop is working on killing foreign retail branches of GameStop like EBGames (Canada), GameStopZing (EU) and Micromania (France) which will result in 4 companies remaining: GameStop, ThinkGeek, gameinformer and GameStop Gives. As the next step, they will merge everything into one company named just GameStop. This goes very well with the muted brand colors on GS socials. Ofc this is pure speculation at this point, but I think that 741 is a name of their strategy, something like "Plan 741" to get rid of the other sub-brands, being pushed by RC for better brand recognition worldwide.
First of all, i'm french so you can expect some weird phrasing in this post.
TLDR at the end.
In France, we have these stores called Micromania. Idk how exactly they relate to gamestop, if it is just a brand or a separate entity, if they run independently or not...
How françapes (pronounce franss-apes) see this store ? Pricy, useless, thiefs.
They price games far over what you can find in a typical supermarket (Carrefour) .
(i will refer to the prices i actually saw with my own eyes recently)
Every Nintendo games, at the release date, is minimum 60β¬ at Micromania. in the same mall, we have Carrefour that sells it at 45β¬. What i mean by in the same mall, is that you have basically 200 meters to walk to save 15β¬ on a game. and we have plenty malls like this all over the country (i guess it's based on americans' mall)
You can trick the system by :
-buy your games at 45β¬
-resell it at Micromania for 35β¬ (basically the price they buy it within the first 2 weeks of the release)
-you just finished a brand new game, and you only paid 10β¬
-You go the next day in the store, you will find your used game at 50β¬ (sometimes 55β¬, sometimes 59β¬...)
we still find used mario Odyssey at 55β¬ where i'm living. Zelda Botw at 60β¬ (they sell it 70β¬ sealed)
So, ok if you're someone who consume games like ice cream, it's a model that works well. but it profits only for you and Micromania, where the bagholder is ,in the end, the guy who will buy used games.
If you want to buy a gaming system, it's the same : price higher at Micromania, plus they sell you a guarantee extension, and by selling, i mean something like :
"please dear customer, my paycheck is based on minimum wage, my only bonus comes from the guarantee extension i'm selling you, pls pls take it i need to feed my cat".
(it's just my imagination, but my guess is that they are indeed underpaid).
When you enter in the store, you don't feel like a customer, but more like a wallet with feet (and that is true in a lot of other stores, maybe it's part of french approach with retail business, idk)
When i see you all talking about gamestop, how they are great with customers, also i see the normal prices...
i wonder, when is it coming to France ?
I think Micromania have a huge market with all the Zing products, but i want GPUs, mechanical keyboards, 144hz 49" 32/9 gaming screens, free used games... not the last FunkoPop thingy.
I can't really speak about customer support, since the only time i

GME has earnings coming up in a few months and we still have time to BOOST the shit out of this thing. The quarter officially closes Jan 31. This means we have until the end of the month to pump GME's sales and membership counts.
Here's the action plan-
Step 1 - Download the App and upgrade to a Powerup Rewards Pro membership
Step 2 - Buy something, fucking anything*
Buy it for yourself, your friend, your wife's boyfriend, my mom.
Ima buy my GF a Nintendo Switch with these fucking tendies that have been graced upon me
*Note #1: If you pre-order a product or buy GME gift cards before Jan 31 they will be counted as a liability (debt) until the product is shipped or gift card redeemed. Any pre-order can be assumed to be a debt for this Quarter if the order is placed before Jan 31. If you buy a gift card and don't redeem it before Jan 31 it will count against GME for this quarter. Ultimately, pre-orders are good for business and so are gift card sales, as long as they are eventually redeemed.
Note #2: Try to use the App for your purchases. Take notes on anything frustrating about the user experience while you are making the purchases. I've already noted a bunch of Feedback that would be easy for them to change.
Step 3 - PROVIDE FEEDBACK ON THE APP
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes
r/unclejokes for dirty jokes
r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC
r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes
Punchline !
Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub

First off I want to say happy 1 year anniversary for the Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions video game. So when I got the Bandai Namco Entertainment Uniform Set (Uniform Set 7) in early February this year, I notice there was 3 slots missing between the Hawk Uniform Set (Uniform Set 8) and the Toho Academy Uniform Set (Uniform Set 12). I was doing research to find out these are all region exclusive to Europe (Uniform Set 10 and Uniform Set 11) and the Arab League (so Asia and Africa) (Uniform Set 9). To unlock these Uniform Sets, you would have to buy the Collector Edition of the game and it will come with cleats and a soccer ball. This is a post of what the display of Uniform Sets would look like if you live in Europe since there is no Uniform Set 9 available in Europe. I'll have this Poll open for a week as I am writing this. These are the Uniform Sets I am talking about:
The GameStopZing Collaboration Uniform Set (Uniform Set 10) (which is exclusive to Europe)
The Micromania Zing Collaboration Uniform Set (Uniform Set 11) (which is exclusive to Europe)
Don't you know a good pun is its own reword?
Two muffins are in an oven, one muffin looks at the other and says "is it just me, or is it hot in here?"
Then the other muffin says "AHH, TALKING MUFFIN!!!"
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π

But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.
Heard they've been doing some shady business.
but then I remembered it was ground this morning.
Edit: Thank you guys for the awards, they're much nicer than the cardboard sleeve I've been using and reassures me that my jokes aren't stale
Edit 2: I have already been made aware that Men In Black 3 has told a version of this joke before. If the joke is not new to you, please enjoy any of the single origin puns in the comments
Me and my buddys have been trading casually for the last decade or so, nothing game-changing, our books have gone from green to red many times. When we first heard of this GME stuff, our first intial reaction was that DFV was just pulling a pump and dump and that this would all blow over in a month when he cashed out.
He didn't cash out, so we looked into the situation a bit more and checked some numbers/watched the volume trends and we noticed that DFV has found a potential, real world golden goose. Now, how is it a golden goose of stock? Quite simply: from around 2009-2019 GMEs average yearly revenue were 8B and the massive drop in revenue down to 5B has almost PURELY coincided with the 2019-2020 Coronavirus. The drop from 8-5B pretty much happens over the space of 12 months, granted their yearly revenue WAS dropping slightly before this, however if you ignore Corona and follow the trend, then they would be worth around 7B revenue in 2020, MUCH more then the current 5B.
What does this say? On a super simple level, it means that the company is currently undervalued by a shitload artificially because of the Corona and over the next ~3 years its recovery is almost certainly going to keep its current yearly revenue at minimum 5B, probably recovering to around 6(likely)-7.5B (optimistic).
Now we have seen a lot of FUD over GMEs future as brick and mortar store, this is nonsense. The notion that the online gaming market is already saturated is only half true. It would only be completely saturated if there was no more growth in consumers. However every year, more and more people continue to get access to gaming systems, and a lot of these people come from low income backgrounds where, SURPRISE, GME excels.
Why does GME excel? Firstly, GME also own EB Games. What is EB games? EB games are the biggest video game retailers in Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Now EB games already has a very sizeable online market, and in these countries have already started the transition from brick and mortar to online sales, and quite successfully so. They own Micromania, the Biggest video game retailer in France.
So while GME doesnt hold as much of a footing in America as say Steam/Valve, it still has pretty big plays in other countries. This completely destroys the notion that GME is unable to transform and specialize in something other than brick and mortar.Blockbusters and companies that have gone the way of extinction DID NOT have their hands in different companies in

A play on words.
So it recently occurred to me that GameStop has multiple subsidiaries, which are more common around the globe. As part of a global rebranding it would make sense for GameStop to maybe streamline some of these companies under a single name or at least a more streamlined brand identity. So let's have a look at look at their websites one by one, based on the GameStop Wiki page.
The mother ship of this whole investigation. I'm not really an expert in investigating changes to a website, but the wayback machine seems to reveal a bigger overhaul to the visual flair on the website in March. Seems like the most well maintained site, as it would be the one with the most traffic.
It seems Babbage's Etc. used to be the parent company of GameStop in the 90's but later became a subsidiary. It was then sold to Barnes & Noble, and merged with Funco, Inc. During the 00's Funco changed it's name to GameStop, and spun off from Barnes& Noble. I could not find any website for Babbage's.
>What a sham. nothing I can do about that.
Seems pretty outdated by compassion. The menu bare seems comparable to what GameStop had in 2016. Could be time for an upgrade?
EB Games Australia seems to reveal a format, which is also used on other subsidiaries. Notice the "Choose a store" and "EB World" buttons in the top menu. I could not seem to locate any author or 3rd party web development teams in the meta tags, but it seems they have all the tracking you would expect from a well functioning website: Google Analytics, Facebook Connect, Google Tag Manager, and an email web campaigning tool called Silverpop (now known as Acoustic). One thing I notice is that a lot of stuff regarding the site is hosted on eb-cdn.com.au, which seems to also be used for other Australian sites related to GameStop.
The Game Informer website does not look like any of the other sites, but it does not really have to. It is an actual magazine, so the website serve more like a news/blog site than a web shop. A fair share of the header is taken up by Salesforce DMP (Data Mana
