I love the Ant-Man films, and Ant-Man’s crew is one of the things that really makes those films for me. The rest of the cast is great obviously, but I find Dave, Luis, and Kurt to be hilarious and also really ground the films. IMO, no Marvel movie better utilizes it’s non-superpowered characters as well as the Ant-Man films, and while the third film is going bigger and crazier, I don’t want it to lose that magic the first two had. So fingers crossed we get Dave, Luis, and Kurt back in some capacity.
I'm not real big into the whole buddy/cop genre, but with that being said - this film blew me away.
Gyllenhaal and Peña's relationship/bromance is so incredibly genuine and true, I'd be surprised to hear if they weren't great friends in real life. The reality of their relationship underscores the whole film.
Also credit to David Ayer for writing such a script that elicits an extraordinary dichotomy of emotions. There was both an authenticity and originality in tone to this movie that I haven't seen in cinema for a long while.
Did not expect this film to be as good as it was.
