A list of puns related to "Michael Imperioli"
That he believes he spoke to a ghost in the Chelsea Hotel that predicted he'd be in The Sopranos
Or
That he thinks Alessandro Nivola deserves an Oscar for MSON
Seems like every time he's asked a question about the Soprano's he says he doesn't remember, but he can tell you which actor was on a broadway show in 1982.....Was he high on scag during his time on the Soprano's?
So, I'm sitting on the throne like Gigi scrolling IG like a high school girl when I come across a post by Michael Imperioli (Chris Moltisanti for the uncultured) announcing or reminding folks about his weekly meditation zoom and sharing a registration link so in my hazy 1 am mind I was like fuck yeah and signed up.
I've done meditation on and (mostly) off for a few years and am familiar with a few styles.
Anyway, 11am on Sunday comes and I log in. It takes a few minutes for Michael to start the zoom. Another woman also with the Imperioli last name (possibly wife?) joins.
- I thought this was pretty cool: cameras and mics were set to off, and you couldn't see how many people were in the meeting. It fits with the idea of detachment, so to speak, it's not about Michael Imperioli, you're not there to hang out or to tell him how big a fan you are. There were no introductions of any kind. He wasn't like I'm Michael and I've done this and that.
- He was in a hotel room and part of his spiel prior to the meditation is that being on the road can make practicing a bit tougher. For those that don't know, meditation is often referred to as a practice.
- He explained briefly what his idea of meditation is about. It wasn't too different from other things I've read except for one part: He said to sometimes practice with eyes open instead of closed. I tried it and enjoyed it. He said the idea of meditation is to also put whatever you might gain from it in practice in the real world and since we mostly engage with the world with our eyes open (which opens them up to more distraction and can make meditation tougher) we should also try to practice with eyes open at least some of the time.
- They did some breathing where you block one nostril and inhale and then exhale out the other nostril. They explained something about blue, white and red paths and I'll be fully honest I have no idea what happened... you were supposed to breathe out negativity adn things like that into each channel but it sort of lost me. Like I can't remember which "channel" or path you were supposed to do what thing in... so I just followed teh breathing and didn't bother about picturing colors or whatever. Chances are I didn't do this "right"
- The quiet meditation part lasted 11 minutes, neither Michael nor Mrs. Imperioli spoke a word. This was a tiny bit unusual as I am accustomed to meditation teachers sort of chirping in every minute or so. I am VERY HAPPY this is not how Michael d
... keep reading on reddit β‘I know heβs no mental midget but he usually is enthusiastic and seems to enjoy bantering with Steve, even if itβs the same joke theyβve made a dozen times before (and it usually is).
Genuinely hope everythingβs ok with the guy. He just seemed totally over it and was just going through the motions, had no real enthusiasm behind anything he said.
Oh and before all the little schoolgirls in this chitchat room say itβs because he hates Steve, he clearly loves the guy, has worked with him for years and had Steve star in the movie he directed so you can take your fuckin slander and shove it up your fat fuckin ass
Have you ever been listening to Steve blather on about how Michael high-hatted him and thought "gee, this experience would be much richer in print?" You're in luck, my friend.
The book is "Talking Sopranos" written down. I don't mean that figuratively. It's literal transcripts of the episodes you've already heard, plus some photos. It's not unreleased material from the interviews, oh no. It's the interviews exactly as they aired, word-for-word, but written down.
They kept talking about how they had SOoOoOooOoO much extra content that they couldn't fit into the episodes and how that was all gonna be in the book. Well, the book is the fuckin' episodes, minus the BlueChew pitches, which are arguably better than some of the stuff we did get.
My respect for Michael Imperioli and Steve Schirripa as authors has just fuckin' plummeted. Frankly, I'm depressed and ashamed.

I wanna go tell him I liked his movie Cleaver but fuck man I canβt be that guy
As the title says, what should I ask them? I will be seeing them at the talking sopranos event at Andiamo Warren Michigan tonight and if given the chance was wondering what I should ask this βglorified crewβ
In the latest podcast he said that he was visited by a female spirit. Who talked to him at 3 o'clock (am). Now, we all know that this is bullshit. Even laughable. Sick shit. What drugs was he taking at the time? Maybe peyote
He has to be one of the best actors ever when it comes to portraying someone high on heroin. Those scenes are some of my favorite throughout the show, and he's perfect in every one. The scene of him high in the park behind the street fair with the dog is one of the best scenes in this show. The music is perfect, Imperioli's stoned-ness is perfect, and the scene is a bit of a redemption for Chris given his last interaction with a dog when he was high.
Edit: here's a link to the scene in case anyone wants to watch: Dolphins
Ive been listening to the Talking Sopranos podcast, now up to S4, and while I enjoy it, there's a lot not to like. Some episodes over 2 hours is just mind numbing to me. Steve Schirripa has some decent input once in a while, but his constant boisterous bombastic repetitive nature is off putting to say the least. I bring this up because I noticed Imperioli was a guest on Pajama Pants with JLS and Robert Iler. I hadnt listened to their podcast before but wanted to hear them interact with Michael again.
It is a better product, plain and simple. With three people, there was no yelling, and certainly no constant interrupting and Steve with his habit of starting sentences with the same word ten times in a row....So so so so so so....
It came off as well structured, it was fun, interesting and provided great insight. Everything I wanted Talking Sopranos to be. Even Kassam, who isnt part of the Soprano cast obviously, had great timing and knew when to stay out of the conversation, and when he chimed in, it was with poignant relevant observations. I know they aren't Soprano oriented, but it made me peruse their episodes and bookmark others I want to give a listen to in the future.
Give that episode a listen if you havent already because they cover more Soprano territory than Talking Sopranos did with JLS and RI combined.
Italian food and Mexican food have to be done right, does this mean that he'll eat shitty Greek or whatever?
At the 1 hour mark Michael does a hilarious impression of Steve that made me spit out my drink at work, I was not prepared for that. "I'M A REGULAR GUY! I'M A REGULAR GUY!"
I just reached midpoint in Talking Sopranos #72 and now I can't sleep...
It's bad enough Steve Schirripa panned it. It never occurred to me fan overlap between these shows might not be near 100%.
Edit: I'd probably pitch the amazing performances. Imperioli seems to genuinely enjoy the craft as practiced by others, and the work on BrBa was top of the line.
On the most recent Talking Sopranos, Michael Imperioli said he has already seen the movie and mentioned a few interesting things about the movie:
I somehow got tickets to see them. I've never heard their podcast but I love Michael Imperioli π You know, Quasimodo predicted all this.
Anyways, $4 a pound.
There's one line in a fairly recent Talking Sopranos episode that truly eludes me.

To recap, the Calzone With Legs goes to an actual ass doctor. On his way out, Calzone's ass gets complimented by the doc for being "perfect". Then Chrissy asks if the doc had warm hands.
What did he mean by this? Some sort of joke, or a genuine question, wordplay?
(Insert Furio voice) I don't get it.
Heβs had a good career, but Iβm a little surprised he hasnβt done bigger things since The Sopranos. Heβs really talented, and he had such an important role in one of the best and most famous TV shows of all time, I just thought itβd springboard his career a bit more.
Gandolfini was a major star when he died, Edie Falco did Nurse Jackie afterward (plus a ton of other shit, including Avatar 2/3 whenever thatβs released), Drea did SOA (plus long stints on a few other shows), but Michael hasnβt had many major parts since The Sopranos. What gives?
I know thatβs how it goes in the business sometimes, but Iβm wondering if thereβs a more specific reason than that. Is he just not trying to get bigger roles (maybe heβs doing a lot of stage work?), or was he typecast into a gangster/tough guy sort of role, or does he just not have the right looks? (Iβm not disparaging the guy, but his nose is pretty distinct; on the other hand, that hasnβt hurt Adrian Brody). Is he content with where he is and what heβs done (good for him, if he is! Very few of us ever get to that place in our lives).
Anyway, $4 a pound.

I know we like to break balls here, but itβs been a long time since the books have opened, and since Jackie has become the chemo-sabie, we need a new leader
