A list of puns related to "Metta World Peace"
>Hey guys . I wish I was ready for a 10 day. But Iβm not. Man I wish I was. Lol. Iβm for sure ready for a 10 minute contract though
I'm in agreement. Better than Draymond as a defender and overall player. Bulls only win 4 or 5 chips without Rodman, and certainly not the one in '96 where Rodman should've won Finals MVP. In that Finals Rodman was the best player in two of the games. Jordan was the best in only one of the game, where he had 36 or something.
Nine years ago, the Los Angeles Lakers took on the Oklahoma City Thunder in what was a marquee matchup just before the start of the season. Things got a little scrappy when Metta World Peace celebrated after getting a bucket by viciously elbowing then-Thunder guard James Harden. It was uncalled for and it did seem intentional. Harden suffered a concussion on the play, and World Peace was later suspended for seven games.
However, the former Lakers forward told Brandon βScoop Bβ Robinson of Bally Sports, that it was indeed not intentional:
βIt wasnβt meant for James (Harden) β¦ I didnβt even know who was behind me. I just felt someone push me; I didnβt know who it wasβ¦ It was very unfortunate.β

Adam talks about seeing a news story earlier involving a violent stabbing, and authorities searching for a male between ages 20-25 with no additional identifying information on the suspect. Then, Adam talks about the price of college increasing by 169% since 1980. After that, Adam talks to a caller who claims to be developing a cuckolding fetish. Before the news, Adam talks about Aaron Rogers testing positive for COVID. Gina reports on todayβs news including: The White House saying large companies will mandate vaccines starting January 4th 2022, an update on the Las Vegas Raiders former wide receiver Henry Ruggs' deadly DUI accident, a NY man who made up a story to get his stolen car back, a man vs woman MMA fight in Poland, and Gwyneth Paltrowβs Christmas Goop highlights.
NBA champion and mental health advocate Metta World Peace joins the show and Adam asks him about his upbringing in the New York projects, including a friend of his getting murdered on the basketball court. Next, Adam asks how early mental health became an important part of his life and Metta suggests a few ideas to help children progress and cope with various issues. Adam recommends trying a sensory deprivation tank and they discuss meditation and psychedelics. After that, Adam and Metta talk about the importance of hard work and how government handouts can hinder someoneβs ambition. Metta gives his thoughts on the COVID vaccine, Kyrie Irving, and what Kobe Bryant meant to him. Before they wrap, Adam asks about βThe Malice at the Palaceβ.
>So I just had a 70 year old man tell me the @Lakers are old . Ok.
That 70-year-old? George Karl probably looool
>This team is headed straight to the 2012-2013 NBA championship!! π₯π
>If Paul George wins a title this year , I rank him top 75 of all time
This bold opinion from Metta comes after Paul George dropped a playoff career-high 41 points in the crucial Game 5 win, with 30 coming in the 2nd half.
Lol Metta's ranking system is great
We had a discussion a couple months ago about expanding the timeframe for this sub past 2000 (link), so we're trying this out. I'm all about us having some discussions about events, teams, and players from the first half of the 2000's (or really up through the '06 season for a few reasons discussed at the link above), but I don't want it to turn into simplistic, overly-discussed topics. Here is a list of all the early-2000's player discussions so far.
Here's a little info about the most notable early-2000's players with a birthday in November:
Jerry Stackhouse (career stats) - Stackhouse entered the league with a lot of promise after a great sophomore season at UNC; he was selected #3 in the '95 draft, just ahead of Rasheed Wallace and Kevin Garnett. He was a 2x All Star ('00 and '01) including a high-scoring '00 season (his 29.8 ppg were 2nd in the league, and he actually had the most total points that season), but he was a very inefficient scorer from the field who didn't bring much other value to his clubs.
Metta World Peace (career stats) - Still remembered by many as Ron Artest, MWP was an incredible defender who could effectively guard most guards and forwards, being named the Defensive Player of the Year in 2004 and was 4x All-Defense. He consistently averaged around 20 ppg from '04 to '09, and after having his best overall season in '04 (3rd-team NBA, DPOTY, his only All Star appearance) he was poised to be the #1 scorer on a very good Pacers team in the 2004-05 season before starting the Malice in the Palace on November 19, 2004; in a bizarre and often forgotten entry for r/agedlikemilk, LA Gear was positioning itself to make a major play in the sneaker world in 2004 with Artest as their face, running these ads just a few weeks before the Malice ended Arest's season, the Pacers' hopes, and LA Gear's place in the basketball shoe game. He was certainly his own person who had his own way of looking at things and was feared by many players for his "he might seriously try to kill me" vibes/stare. MWP was a valuable, versatile, and often clutch
On the subject of international basketball, you played a season overseas and played under FIBA rules. Weβre about to start the Olympics with Team USA undergoing some changes. Bradley Beal is off the team. Kevin Love is off the team. Keldon Johnson and JaVale McGee joined the team. How do you see the Olympics playing out for Team USA? >Metta World Peace: βFor me, the Olympics is a bitter situation for me. I love the Olympics, and I feel like Iβve been shortchanged. Even though I was a head case and a real volatile player when I did play, I just always felt like I should have had an opportunity to play [for Team USA]. The year I was going to play, I got suspended - and when you talk about legacy, that gold medal is very important to legacy. And I was a player, third-team All-NBA. I should have had a tryout. I remember when I didnβt get called for the Olympics, and I thought at least Iβd play on the team that played against the people who got selected (the Select Team). And when that didnβt happen, I called my agent and said, βWhat the hell is going on here?!β And we could not get no response. So then, I had to call the Olympic office myself. And I got no return call. And I was like, βJust let me try out.β I understand I wasnβt the greatest player to be around at that time and some players did not want to play with me, but I was like, βGive me a chance to take that playerβs spot.' At that time, in that era, my defense was so incredible, I was going to take someoneβs spot. Iβm 100 percent sure.β
That would have been the 2004 Olympics in Athens when the U.S. lost to Puerto Rico by 19 in the opener and ended up taking home the bronze.
>Metta World Peace: βYeah, you see what Iβm saying? We [wouldnβt have] taken home a bronze. Weβd have a gold. I wasnβt on that team. The USA had a goal in 2004 and thereβs no way we lose with me on that team. Thereβs no way. How? Iβm averaging 24 and the best defender in the world at that point in time. I got Defensive Player of the Year in between sharks and blue whales, Ben Wallace and Duncan and Garnett. This is who I had to navigate through in order to get that award. Hall of Famers. With that being said, I understand why. But I just want people to hear: If I could rewind time, that is something that is supposed to be on my resume. Now, granted, a lot of things are not on my resume because of me, but I got Defensive Player of the Year, I

>But whoever gets the job , much success to you.
There it is, Celtics finally have their guy lol
Metta sharing his thoughts today:
>Yao Ming was the most selfless superstar Iβve ever met. Itβs unreal. He was clearly the best player in our @HoustonRockets team , and I never heard him complain when he didnβt touch the ball. But he would always bail us out .
As I was watching the last dance I noticed that some things World Peace said mirrored a few things Rodman did as well. World Peace asked for personal absences in the start of the season which others thought was ridiculous but he wanted to take a break to alleviate his anxiety and depression. Obviously he did not go about it in a perfect way just as Rodman and this is a reason his teammates and coaches were kind of not receptive to their actions. Rodman similarly also famously went to Vegas in the middle of the season and changed his outlook on life after breaking down emotionally and mentally when he was with the Pistons.
Later on World Peace learned how to control his emotions and changed his name to be more positive and showed the advantages of receiving help. World Peace shut down his ego and was a key piece for the Lakers in 2010.
I don't see anybody actually calling him that, I always went with Ron Artest, it's well established and rolls off the tongue well.
>According to longtime urban legend, Artest, with a salary of more than $1 million in 1999-2000, applied for the job citing "NBA player" as his prior occupation, and using then-Bulls general manager Jerry Krause's name as a reference... he got the job and worked one shift.

β@kingjames is the goat. Never thought I would say that over my brother 24 and my favorite mj. I was an Allstar in mj Jersey 23. I changed my number for one season to honor a legend. But the King is the greatest athlete to ever touch this galaxy. Better than the aliens too.β
