A list of puns related to "Megami Tensei"
I remember reading it's one of the most most difficult JRPGs... reddit what do you say about that? I'm about to get into the remaster and want to know what I'm up against
So a couple weeks back, I was able to get my hands on an OLED after having a launch Switch, I knew I needed something to celebrate and decided to give this game a shot since I heard alot of praise for it. Was slightly hesitant about getting it right at launch since I still have a copy of SMTIV that I fell off of really early on when that first came out. Boy, was I dumb for waiting to play.
I ended up doing the "100%" run for the game with the "true" ending, completing every side quest and getting every collectible in the game, then wrapped the game with a full lvl 99 party.
It's hard to explain this one, other than saying if you're looking for a good JRPG to play over the holiday season, I HIGHLY recommend you give this game a good, and happy to explain anything if folks got questions, but seriously, it's worth every penny of your time.
Based on decades of experience with the franchise, im certain that i am the biggest authority on all things Megaten and thus, analyzing the current state of the series, i am writing this post to give what are objectively the best changes ATLUS should make to the SMT franchise going foward to ensure it maintains its philosophical value and stays culturally relevant.
Iβm looking for an engaging story to sink my teeth into and Iβm not sure which entry to go with. Iβve played SMT Nocturne, IV and Persona 5 Royal.
It adds:
The FOV slider is great, fixes the only issue I had with the game. I've heard the second zone in particular is too bright for OLED owners, so the brightness slider will probably be great for them.

A little background, I LOVE JRPGS, western not so much although the occasional like Ghost of Tsushima was awesome. All Final Fantasy, All DQ, old scholls like Chrono and many others, Secret of Mana, tails, and my personal favorite about all Persona 5 Royal with P4 as second. I do play other genre gamesv like Witcher 3, Ghost, and others. Iv wantedv and wasv toldv to get SMT 5 but not on ps5. My vfriend said im very likelyv to enjoy this concluding it is P5 without social sim and 75% of game spent in mementos. Others have told me it is nihilistic and extremely bleak. Also vthat it is the hardest game theyve all ever played. I always start on the hardest difficulty usually. Can anyone give advice on what to expect, tips for when i begin, and just how similar is this to the game istated were my favorite?
UPDATE: There's apparently an NA sale too, congrats y'all, the waiting has paid off! Some incredible deals here, so happy early Christmas!

With being able to chain attacks through exploiting enemy weaknesses, getting demons to align with you and join your party. Fusing demons to make better ones. Leveling up means alot as it not only boosts stats but allows you to fuse even cooler demons according to your level! Soundtrack is top notch. Graphics are among the best on switch. Story is excellent. Overall a great entry point to the series
Hello ladies and gentlemen,
I know SMT isn't Pokemon and won't completly scratch the same itch for some persons but I really wanted to make this post because I never been this addicted to a monster catching game since Red and Blue back then in 1999 and the last Switch game who swallowed me like this was BOTW.
I did several SMT games before: Nocturne, Strange Journey Redux, IV and Apocalypse and I loved every one of them but this time it's different. What they did with the world really impress me in a way I didn't expected. It's coherent, every demon are in the right logical spot for them, have an unique voice and have always something to say to you. Exploration is so rewarding too !
Don't get me started on the the animations because holy YHVH ! Some of them are so well done, unique skills and the low health ones come to my mind.
I'm not too far in the game, I'm in the area after the first boss but I'm feeling the same kind of "drug" I felt back then when I discovered Pokemon for the first time. I remember I never wanted to turn off my Game Boy and I'm in the same situation right now but with a Switch this time.
I'm playing on Hard and the game feels just right to me, it's challenging but not unfair. I never hard to grind but I have to really think about what I am doing, what kind of team I need to build, etc. I have all the tools I need and it's really satisfying to suceed knowing I did the right thing at the right moment.
I know GameFreak disapointed some of you in the past years and of course Pokemon will always be Pokemon, SMT will always be SMT (they also don't have the same time in development) but props to Atlus for their amazing job on this game. I expected this game to be another good SMT game but what I got is so much more and make me wish I could get a Pokemon of this quality one day.
Did I mention the sound design and the OST are absolutly phenomenal ? Because they are. Don't sleep on this game if you like JRPGs !
Shin Megami Tensei V came out today and with it being a lot of people first experience with the franchise, here is an introduction to the series and some tips for those who are just getting into the game.
Note that this is a long post.
What is Shin Megami Tensei?
Shin Megami Tensei (SMT for short) is a turn based RPG set in a post apocalyptic world, with the story and themes based on religion, mythology, and philosophy. The seriesβ main draws are:
An alignment system where you may get different endings based on the choices and philosophical side you take during the story.
A robust Monster Collecting gameplay loop where you can recruit the creatures you meet along your adventure known as Demons and fuse them to create more powerful ones.
Difficult and strategic turn based gameplay.
If any of these sound interesting to you then check out SMT V! And no, you do not need to play any other game to enjoy SMT V.
The Combat
Shin Megami Tensei utilizes a battle system based on exploiting enemy weaknesses (yes, that is a focus in every JRPG but even more so here). The flow of battle alternate between the player and enemy phase with each side having a set amount of actions per turn. If you hit an enemy weakness or score a critical hit however, you gain an extra action. Missing an attack or using a move that is nullified by the enemy will lose you an extra action. The same system also apply to the enemy so considering elemental strengths, weakness, and the number of actions each side will have is very important.
For those who played Persona, the concept of the combat system is similar with some differences, so youβll be right at home.
Gotta Catch Them All
The demon collection aspect is perhaps the most addicting aspect of Shin Megami Tensei. In addition to killing enemy encounters for EXP, you may also talk to enemy demons in order to recruit them to your party.
You will have to answer to the demon in a way that pleases them and give them money, items, and even your HP and MP in order to persuade them. Each demon have different personalities that will want you to respond in different ways so itβs not alway the correct play to respond nicely. There are those who will be impressed by your audacity to insult them, and those who will call you a creep for being nice to them. Yes, demon negotiation can be veryβ¦. quirky and frankly, I suck at it XD.
As a side note, every demon is based on something from mythology, folklore, religion
... keep reading on reddit β‘So I dont have a ton of experience with SMT other than playing about 20 hours in P4 and beating P5. I own Nocturne and have put in a bit of time but nothing significant. Its currently on sale for a decent price and was thinking about picking it up but I dont really play my switch that often since getting a PS5 so I dont even know if Ill even get to it anytime soon. Ive heard nothing but great things about it but that is mainly from MegaTen fans so im not sure if there is a bias or not. Also it being on the Switch makes me worry about performance issues. I mainly played my switch in portable so im hoping that might help since I know most frame drops happen in docked mode for a ton of games. Any feedback would help a ton.
Around Christmas, I finished Shin Megami Tensei V after over 170 hours of playtime dating back to launch day. SMTV is not only my first-ever SMT game but also my first-ever Atlus game. Considering this isnβt a series Iβm overly familiar with, Iβm not going to go too in depth with my review as Iβm not an expert in SMT gameplay.
Learning Through Intuition
Seeing as this was my first SMT game, I wanted to experience this game blind without any preconceived notions of the gameplay. I used to recklessly spend money on games as a kid, so nowadays, I rarely play new games unless theyβre from my top 5 series. SMTV was the first time in a long time in which I bought a game physically from a series I never touched. As a result, I got to experience its learning curve blind without any knowledge from prior games, and that was very refreshing.
When it came to Miracles, I tend to prioritize ones that provide permanent, long-term benefits, so anything that increased my demon stock, increased skill slots, or increased demon stats through fusion was a must. Anything that increased the amount of Magatsuhi gained was helpful as well. I didnβt realize the importance of the βPrayer of [X]β Miracles until later due to its vague description, but those helped me out during Area 4.
Learning all the battle tactics was fun. Rasetsu Feast and Fairy Banquet were valuable Magatsuhi skills that saved my ass during the early game and mid game. Restore was a very valuable passive skill since you could save MP just by using shards/gems. My Nahobino was a physical dodgetank, so his overkill Agility meant heβd have occasional dodges that would end enemy turns. By also focusing on Strength, I could spam Aramatsu for very little MP cost (basically no cost with Restore) and deal insane damage with Wrath Tempest during Critical state.
Story & Character Analysis
Going into this game, I had heard that mainline SMT games did not have particularly great stories, so my expectations going in were pretty low. I particularly got the Chaos ending, which I personally didnβt expect to be chaos due to the polytheistic angle, so thatβs at least a new perspective I hadnβt considered.
It was either that or the Neutral ending with Shohei since Dazai & Abdiel were a bit too insane for me to choose Law. Regardless, I just wanted to help out my demon buddies. After doing research, Iβm not going for the secret ending as it seems counterintuitive to its requirements (helping out all these de

>!I just defeated hard Shiva and oh my god, it felt soo good. I felt something that I haven't felt in a long time during gameplay of the video game. At first I got my ass beaten like - I guess - everyone. Then after about 8 hours or planning, leveling different demons and fusing them together (with xp dlc), farming essences etc. I tried again and ~20 mins later he was no more than just a dust. !<
>!SMT by looking on it's subreddit or overall online tutorials seems to be very niche game. Everyone heard about Shin Megami Tensei but barely anyone played it. Even for me SMTV was my first touch with the series and I regret I got into it this late. If you are into JRPGs, turn-based games or just Pokemon series, I couldn't recommend it enough. Just give it a try :)!<

I've been on the fence about SMTV since launch. I loved Persona 4 Golden (and beat it 100% twice), but that was back in high school when I really had more time. I also didn't really enjoy Persona 5 or Royal that much, but I can't really nail down the reason. I think, in part, it has to do with less time to game now that I'm working 9-6 on weekdays, but I also found that I wasn't really into the characters in the same way that the ones in P4G captured me. I'm not really into "anime aesthetic", so while I do enjoy some anime (like One Piece/One Punch Man), I found P5's characters to be kind of cringey in a way that P4's characters weren't. Now, I know that SMTV is not Persona, and it has more to do with monster collection than boosting social meters, but I felt like it was important to express how I felt about a similar series in order to help you gauge whether or not SMTV is for me.
I am a fan of Pokemon, which I've heard was inspired by SMT in its monster-collecting elements, but that's sort of where I draw the monster-collecting line. I also frequently play my switch on the train to work (about 1-2 hours a day), which makes justifying a 90+ hour game a little easier as it's more accessible and portable than a PlayStation.
So, some questions:

I remember the SMT3 remaster had code for Steam / PC in it when it released in Japan and then it was announced for PC as part of its western release.
I wonder if the game will come to PS4 when it gets its PC release which was mentioned in the geforce now leak.
