What are the mathematics behind the food consumption?

Hey,

I was curious to know if there is any way to get the formula / math for the food consumption?

Same with gold generation.

I've been browsing internet, the FAQ, wiki and so on but I could not get them.

Mathematics as food

short story:

"Mathematics as a food"

The baker wanted to make his bakery a destination for Mathematicians, so he made new bread in the form of infinity symbol and Pi ...

So a customer (a fake Mathematician who believes that the numbers have no end) came and saw the symbol of the infinity and Pi,

he said to the baker: But instead of making the infinite symbol, you had to make an infinite number of pieces of bread,

and Instead of making bread in the form of Pi, you had to make bread this way (............ 3.141592653589)

The baker said: But this is not possible, because the Infinity and Pi is against reality and nature.

Then the fake Mathematician said: Yes, that is correct ... You are a skilled baker and you only want you to bring Mathematicians to buy bread, in addition to that you want to make Mathematicians eat bread in the form of an infinity symbol and Pi, and so they will be able to really know that the Numbers have an end because If the Numbers have no end, then the Infinity symbol or Pi can not be digested.

I was incorrect in that selling on the way down, this strategy is not efficient. Thank you to u/chimaera_hots

I would like it to be known, though, that being misinformed is not the same thing as being a shill.

My personal attacks are unnecessary in my comments. However, it can be frustrating to find the same thirty questions in this sub or explain things several times.

Edit: I will be posting a new battle plan sheet later today. After a careful review of the process, it needs to be retooled and with different instructions, but the math still stands.

Inspiration for Magical War: Early modern gunpowder warfare

(Note: this is the most recent article on Worldbuilding Workshop, a blog that provides worldbuilding inspiration, including premodern/early modern history, geography, conlangs, etc.)

Many people argue that due to magic, fantasy combat should have more in common with early modern warfare than premodern war. To be honest, I haven’t fully considered this idea. To get started, let’s look at what war looked like in the gunpowder era before the Industrial Revolution. This will focus on European warfare at the end of the period, barely touching the Napoleonic wars.

We’ll look at armies, gear, strategy, operations, siege tactics, battle tactics, and naval tactics.

Armies

  • As warfare evolved during the early modern era, army sizes skyrocketed. The demands of larger armies, coupled with increased bureaucratic capacity, led to some of the first large standing armies. These were recruited or conscripted from the populace and usually provided salaries, all features that modern professional militaries are familiar with.
  • We’ll touch on this in the next section, but the fact that most of the expenses are paid by the state serves to β€œflatten” armies as far as social classes are concerned. Before this period, soldiers mostly had to pay for their own gear. This meant that poorer soldiers were consigned to lower-quality units and suffered high mortality rates. For example, cavalry was made up of members of the upper-class, since horses are so expensive. Once governments started picking up the bill, unit membership starts being less based on soldier wealth. In theory, this should make things more based on personal ability, but nepotism and chance were still significant factors.
  • Professional armies have one notable drawback. Most non-professional militaries make use of existing social structuresβ€”families, villages, or other pre-existing organizations fight together. These social ties create morale, or more properly, cohesion. Since career soldiers are removed from these connections, artificial ones have to be made. Training regimens and standardized drills serve to create bonds between soldiers, encouraging them to stay in the fight.

Gear

  • As previously mentioned, the early modern period saw governments producing gear for armies. Premodern gear tended to be wildly varied, even within units. Now that equipment was being made en masse, it started to become standardized. Regular uniforms became more common as well.

SERIOUS: This subreddit needs to understand what a "dad joke" really means.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

First Contact - Chapter 640 - The Spoked Offensive

[first] [prev] [last appearance] [next]

The mighty have been cast out from Paradise, but face the world with feral grins and arms wide. The Terran knows not of Fear, but drinks deep from it. As the prophet Rorschach told the demons, "I'm not locked in here with you, YOU'RE LOCKED IN HERE WITH ME!! YOU ARE LOCKED IN HERE WITH ME!!!" The chips of rebirth were a panacea, a leash upon the Wrath of Terra. When Death has lost her scythe, the worst of Wrath is kept at Bay. Only Righteous Anger need be feared. But when Death mows once more, she brings Pain of Loss and Wrath of Vengeance with her. Woe be unto the planets upon which the Wrath of Vengeance walks. For it will scar the ones that survive, and destroy the rest.

To quote holy Vegetius, "Igitur qui desiderat pacem, praeparet bellum."

And the Terrans are Militaris Rex. - u/Netmantis

Kra'atmo'o preferred order and stability.

He disliked rude war and conflict, it upset his status quo.

The status quo, to Kra'atmo'o, was important. It ensured that people felt confident in their lives and their leadership. Upheaval led to stress which led to conflict which led to the status quo breaking down.

When he had been a young Lanaktallan, just out of training, he had been the Eighteenth Semi-Temporary Understudy to a System Most High who had taken over a busy industrial system and then ran it straight into the ground through incompetence. When the population had been pushed to the wall, when they had neither food nor entertainment, safety nor security, freedoms nor leisure, the population had reacted as Kra'atmo'o had learned in school.

In less than four years the once profitable stellar system had been reduced to howling isotopes, bitter black ash, and terrible stillness.

Kra'atmo'o had never forgotten that time.

More, he had never forgotten how the Most High had blamed everything on the dead population rather than his own disastrous policies.

A status quo had to be maintained by allowing it to naturally grow and breathe, to undergo slow change when needed and growth spurts when necessary. It was when the status quo was forced to chan

Productivity tips for people with ADHD

I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 19, in December 2016. The point at which it occurred to me that I might have ADHD was when I realised that my exams for the first year of my undergraduate degree were in a couple of weeks time, and that when I glanced at the questions in exam past-papers, I had basically no idea what they meant on account of having read almost none of the relevant material. This was a familiar feeling - a year earlier, during my A-levels, I took a philosophy exam on John Stuart Mill’s On Liberty without having read more than three pages of the (very short) book. In my AS Level Mathematics exam (which you take at 17 years old in the UK), I opened the exam paper to find that I didn’t understand any of the questions because I hadn’t done any work in preparation for the exam. With the philosophy paper, I could blag my way through it on the basis of some knowledge I had from YouTube videos and just chatting with people about philosophy, and I got a B. In maths, I got a U (I’m unsure if you have the mark U in the US or other countries, but you can probably infer roughly how bad it is) - unless you’re a total genius, it’s not really possible to figure out what this question means if you’ve never encountered most of those symbols before.

So, in 2016 I got an appointment with a psychiatrist, who asked that I take a rather odd examination in which you perform various cognitive tasks while a camera is pointed at your face to see how your eyes move and how you behave. There is always a temptation here to behave in the way you would expect someone with ADHD to behave (β€œShould I be fidgeting more? Should I dart my eyes around like a madman?”) - I wanted the diagnosis, and I wanted some medication I thought might change my life. I refrained from doing that - not out of a feeling that I was morally obligated to act as I normally do, but because I sort of thought that doing an over the top display of fidgeting was likely to lead to the psychiatrist thinking I was trying to get access to stimulants rather than thinking that I genuinely had ADHD.

I was diagnosed with ADHD, and started off on methylphenidate short-release, commonly known as Ritalin (although it isn’t sold under the brand name Ritalin in the UK). There is one thing worth noting here that I hadn’t heard from other people when discussing Ritalin use: for me, it felt like it did basically nothing that a cup of coffee or two wouldn’t do. My heart-r

Out of the many myths about UFOs, perhaps the most deceptive is the idea that "interstellar travel is impossible, therefore UFOs cannot be aliens." Here is a full breakdown of why this argument doesn't hold any water.

Myth, paraphrased: "According to scientific consensus, interstellar travel is impossible or completely impractical, which means that aliens cannot travel here, which means that UFOs cannot be aliens." Alternatively: "Nothing can go faster than the speed of light, therefore, it would take literally years to get to Earth. No alien in his right mind would do this, therefore, UFOs cannot be aliens."

Some people also just assume that aliens must be coming from millions of light years away, but why? What is the rate at which alien civilizations arise? We have no idea. The closest star is 4.3 light years away. That's less than 5, not 7 million light years. There are 2,000 stars within 50 light years of Earth. It seems obvious that a civilization that develops space flight capabilities would probably start colonizing the galaxy after millions of years of advancement. We are already planning on colonizing the Moon and Mars. If you guess that the odds of another civilization forming alongside ours within several light years is too low, what about colonization and migration across the galaxy over millions or billions of years? There is no good reason to rule this out.

To show how big this issue is, in just over a hundred years, we went from a civilization thinking that flying without the assistance of balloons was mathematically impossible, to putting a helicopter on Mars, and sending probes to visit other planets and moons within our solar system. It is astounding how wrong we were. If you were to take someone from the 1800s and put them in 2022, they would think they're in a science fiction wonderland. They would see with their own eyes things they previously thought were impossible, but also many other things they wouldn't have been able to imagine. Airplanes, the Moon landing, the internet, artificial intelligence, genetic modification, particle colliders, organ transplants, billionaires like Elon Must and Jeff Bezos planning on colonizing space...

Within this century, we will probably have literal interstellar spaceships of our own, although we are starting very small.

About that scientific "consensus," if you sat down a thousand physicists and asked them if they thought interstellar travel for us would be impossible or too difficult regardless of all future technological advances over the next hundred, thousand, or million years, there would be no

AITA for not buying my daughter a laptop after she told me she doesn't respect me?

This story takes place over the course of the past year or so. For some context to this story, this is in Australia, my daughter is currently 16 and an "artist", I am 58, we live in an extremely rural area. I'm on mobile so please forgive me for formatting issues.

So, I was my daughters Mathematics Methods teacher from years 9-11. A year ago (beginning of 2020) during her year 10, my daughter started acting out suddenly at home and eventually at school too. we think it's because of one of her friends who, honestly, is a complete asshole to her parents. Around about the middle of that same year, she would start crying on every single trip to school, most of the time completely refusing to go. On the days I made her go, she would end up calling her mother during recess to take her home. On the days she refused to get out of bed, we would confiscate her phone, and we'd keep it for a few weeks every time. she still had her school-laptop during this though. This was around the time my daughter plainly told me she doesn't respect me. In mid September 2020 or so, my daughter plainly told me she doesn't respect/love me or my wife, and ever since then has completely ignored all our presence at home. Skip forward to the same time in 20201, she actively avoids us, insults us, and has no respect for her family. She only ever comes out of her room to eat, and never ever acknowledges us.

She has her own money from her drawings she makes on her laptop, so we never buy her anything except necessities, but around 3 months ago she came to me and her mother, casually telling us her laptop is old, crappy and broken from our friend's kids using it. We don't usually buy her gifts because we believe she's old enough to get an actual job and buy her own things, but she's so lazy and refuses to do anything but draw "anime" in her room. I've seen some of her drawings here and there, and to me it's porn. The women in those drawings are naked, and she says that's the only way she can afford anything because we won't buy her anything. We don't want to reward her for this behaviour with a new laptop. We told her a very Stern "No. Get a job." and she just started crying. again.

Since then, every single conversation I've had with her has ended up in her yelling at me. Every single time. I'd tell her dinner is ready, and she'd tell me she'll "eat with her family when she actually gets a family". it hurts. I'd ask her how her days been and she'd reply "fuck off.". She's such a dramati
