Marianne Name Puns

I’d love to hear some Middle names that flow with Marianne. I picked Marianne as i love her character from ‘Sense and Sensibility’ and it has family links. Although i also enjoy it links to the french ideology, and biblical links to the characters of Mary and Anne.

I love traditional, classic English or French girls names, especially those with biblical or links to literature. However i’m honestly open to anything that is pretty and flows nicely.

I have read lots of CG fanfic and in EVERY one, with a single exception, Marianne's last name is always assumed to be Lamperouge. I read a Fanfic today where this is not the case, and then decided to research a bit. As it turns out, this author is the only person I have seen so far who knows this little detail. So, this also reminded me of HP fandom where people sometimes assume some details are canon despite it never being mentioned, just as I did about Marianne's last name. Oh well.

I recently watched POALOF and I'm so mad that I didn't watch it sooner. It was truly a work of art. I was moved to tears by the film. There was such attention to detail and each shot and movement had such purpose and feeling behind it. There is one scene in particular that I thought was meaningful but now I'm confused about whether or not it actually happens as I think it did or if I missed a scene, but I've been unable to re-watch to confirm.

While watching the movie I realised that the first time Marianne says Heloise's name out loud is after she destroys her first portrait of Heloise and just before she starts on the second portrait. I felt it to be a powerful moment where the dynamic shifts and Heloise becomes the recipient of her attention and affection instead of just being the object of a painting. I've ways felt there's something really intimate about calling someone by their name.

Did anyone else notice this? Was this actually the first time she says her name or did I miss something?

Basically the female, Dutch version of Eddy Merckx, Vos is easily considered the top rider of her generation, and probably of all time in the sport. Her dominance has not been limited to road racing, having earned the rainbow stripes in cyclocross and track as well as on the road, not to mention some good success in mountain bike racing early in her career. In addition, she’s earned gold medals in both track racing (in the points race in 2008) and road racing (London in 2012).

These are feats that may never be repeated as the women’s sport becomes more and more specialized, as the men are currently. Vos, however, is the true all-rounder; she can climb mountains and put in good time trial, and she can usually out-sprint whatever small group of riders manage to keep up with her to the finish line of a race, whether it’s flat or up a steep incline.

Marianne Vos started cycling competitively early in life, following in the footsteps (or pedal strokes?) of her older brother. In true Dutch fashion, she was also into speed skating as a kid. Her professional cycling career began at age 15 in 2002, when she won the junior Dutch National Championships in both mountain bike and road disciplines. She soon went into cyclocross, winning several races in 2004 and 2005, all the meanwhile picking up more junior national championships in mountain biking and road racing. She would go on to win the Cyclocross World Championships in early 2006.

Later that year, Vos burst onto the elite senior circuit of road racing, winning a slew of races throughout the year and capping it off with the rainbow stripes on the road in Salzburg. The domination continued nearly unabated for years. In 2007 she won (among other things): Flèche Wallonne, the Holland Hills Classic, a stage of the Giro d’Italia, and the overall Women’s World Cup. She also started dabbling in track racing around this time, with some successes in the Dutch Track Championships.

The Beijing Olympics in 2008 netted Vos her first gold medal, on the track in the points race, and she also won rainbow stripes that year on the track. On the road she had a bunch of great wins, including Flèche Wallonne again and the general classification several stage races.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

so what does any of this mean? Really, nothing. I just had fun looking into all of this. But pretending it does mean stuff and things Are more predictable I should point out

-Chrom is currently the only male character to reach 3rd place but never win. This is main because Marth almost always held 3rd.

-Women and men fluctuate about as often in these polls, except the men were more stable in the top 5 traditionally

-Hector is currently the only character male or female to win 3rd place in one bracket and first in another.

other third place finishers, Marth and Camilla, won second.

the remaining third place people, Chrom, Tharja, Anna(FEA), Bernedetta, and Byleth never won.

this means so far if you win third place you are more likely to fall off voting and lower in ranking than win at all, but if you do win you’re twice as likely to get 2nd place than first. my guess is that, if anything, it’s because votes moving don’t tend to go to those already in the lead, mixing with complacency in voting making people think they’re favorites have a secured slot.

Hello, you beautiful pirates!

How are you feeling knowing the Anniversary is in just 3 days? Ready? Scared? Excited?

Some of you may know, some may not, at the beginning of this year we announced and shared around this little community event which consisted of a form split into 6 categories.

The 6 in question were:

• Best Bounty Festival unit of 2021;
• Best Step-Up unit of 2021;

• Worst Step-Up unit of 2021;
• Best EX unit of 2021;
• Best Artwork of 2021.

The 2 week voting period has ended a week ago, but I pushed back writing this post because I wanted to get closer to the Anni for some extra hype....and also because I'm a lazy bum. (People reading that the results will come on the 17th of January be like)

Unlike last time we did this where we just compiled the results and came up a top 10 list, I figured this time I'd add some visual aid. Without further ado, we shall dive into the results.

1. Despite coming after the 2.5 Annversary, Young Doffy quickly rose to the top. Not only was he designed to counter Sir Spam-a-lot, Fleet Admiral Sakazuki, but he is also capable of going toe to toe with the (in)famous Roden combo. Similar to the unit he was made to combat, he is also capable of spamming his skills, particularly his shield. Now, the shield itself isn't the problem as it's still locked behind a 40 second cooldown. The OP factor comes from one of his traits (among many other good ones) that allows him to shave of 3% of the cooldown time on that shield skill. Considering that his full normal attack combo consists of 8 hits and that his "Parasite" skill consists of 5 it is unbelievably easy to get your shield skill back up.
