A list of puns related to "Mandalay Region"
He guys. Sorry if this is the wrong place. But I've been talking to a girl at my work. We both live in the US, but she is from Myanmar. One thing that still confuses me, when I first asked where she was from she said Meano, and later clarified that she meant Myanmar. But I guess it's also pronounced "Meano"? Where does this come from, or am I completely misunderstanding her?
I started compiling a list of place names that I find particularly evocative this morning. I know to some degree this is individual, but do you guys have any examples of places that sound impossibly exotic or just have an outstanding sense of place just in the name?
I think the absolute classics are Timbuktu, Bora Bora, and Samarkand.
Has anyone been somewhere based mostly or partly on the name? When it comes down to it I probably went to Cartagena mostly because the ticket was the right price, but the great name definitely contributed to it.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Do your worst!
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies ๐
It really does, I swear!

>>The collapse of the Chinese nation-state would be one without any ceremony or adieu. Once one of the few nations considered to be a great power, the People's Federation of China had long since fallen into isolation and obscurity. So when the "Night King of Europe" now formally known as the Aesir gave the formal order to conduct what Alfheimr had come to call "Ragnarรถk" upon the Chinese nation and her people, none across the globe would raise a hand to defend the Dragon of the East. And on the 1st of September, Ragnarรถk would be unleashed as the full might of Alfheimr's considerable wunderprojects upon not only the Chinese military and government, but the people at large. A fraction of the arsenal once built and designed to wage total war in Europe would come crashing down upon major cities, power stations, a
