A list of puns related to "Luna Park, Coney Island"
Now that everyone entering Coney Island's Luna Park needs a wristband, can anyone who has been there this season answer a question for me?
If a group goes to Luna Park but one member doesn't ride rides, can that member buy the cheaper Family Fun Pass and still access all areas of the park, just not ride the better rides? Or are there actually two discrete park sections for the Family Fun people and the Thrill Seeker Pass holders?
The Luna Park website isn't much help, and they haven't answered my inquiry. Thanks! And always marry someone who doesn't like roller coasters! It helps to have someone down on the ground to hold your jacket, hat, phone, and that stuffed animal you won and have no room for in your apartment!
EDIT TO ADD: A thousand thanks, all! I really appreciate everyoneβs input. Iβm going to consult with my co-household-budgeter and plan accordingly. The immediate instance is a birthday celebration in lieu of party, so weβll probably splurge, but itβs good to know there are fun, frugal alternatives.
So I was an enthusiast in my early teens but this was actually my first time at an amusement park since 2015 (I'm 27 now). The Pandemic lead me down the roller coaster rabbit hole again, and now that I'm vaccinated and living in the tri-state area i said fuck it and decided to go to Luna Park to ride some coasters.
Upon arrival, it was a bit surreal. It was actually my first time in NYC since the Pandemic began. I bought a "thrill seeker" wristband in advance, but the ticket agent told me that only two rides, Soaring Eagle and the Cyclone were open. I decided to go for it anyways as I've wanted to ride the Cyclone for years. Park was also good for the most part about enforcing social distancing, and except for one cyclone operator everyone i saw were wearing masks.
First ride was the Cyclone. WOW. Wayyy better than i expected. Sat in the front, the lapbar was very high so I got a lot of airtime, and the laterals were insane! 9/10, great coaster to remind me of how awesome roller coasters are.
Next: I saw Thunderbolt operating and went to it. I read that it was rough so i didn't have great expectations. WOW. Vertical lift hills are awesome in their own right, first drop was awesome, got hanging through the loop and inversions, got more airtime than i expected. Only complaint was it was a little rough at a couple stages, but overall I had a blast! 8.5/10!
Final credit of the day was Steeplechase (Soaring Eagle broke down and didn't reopen, probably a good thing). The operations here were bizarre, seemed like they were both in their first day. Launch was fantastic, but i found the rest of the ride to be dull. Also, as a tall man the restrains were awful, my legs hurt after the ride, and it didn't help the arthritis in my knee. Decided this was a one and done, 4/10.
Then i went on their drop tower. I love drop towers for their views, but this one had zero airtime, some positive Gs but overall the weakest tower I've ever been on, 6/10.
Got two more rides in on Cyclone and Thunderbolt each. One in the 8th row on Cyclone, was definitely rougher back there and overall less airtime, and it actually stopped short on the break run!. My last ride was in the front again and it was the best ride I got. 9/10, especially for my last ride! Thunderbolt i got one more awesome ride in the front and another in the middle, but i was stapled both rides, so 7.5/10 even though I felt like it ran better than my first.
Overall I had a great day at Coney Island. I love a
