Hi all!
I will be moving to Reading, specifically in Lower Earley south of Laurel Park with my partner and our baby and I'm looking into all the utilities things that needs to be sorted.
I was curious if some of you can share their experiences/prices on these:
- We have to get Virgin Media for broadband (working from home, so I need a fast connection and they seem to be the only fibre provider on our postcode) Anyone uses them? line stable? customer service ok?
- A quick Energy provider search/compare shows Scottish energy and EDF Energy as a good choice. Any insight on these? We had EDF in London and never had any issues but it's always good to double check when moving
- We currently have Three for mobile. Is the service good? I was thinking of swiching to EE since they have a broadband+mobile deal but now I'm not sure. Is Virgin Media mobile service ok?
- We used Ocado for groceries delivery during the previous lockdown. IS there any other delivery service you would recommend? Maybe cheaper but with good vegetables selection?
- We will need a car, and with a baby, my partner would feel more comfortable with a used car from a dealer. Any lemons-dealers out there we should avoid?
Don't want to bury you guys under my (waaaay longer) list of questions :D but I figured it was a good opportunity to say hi and hopefully pick your collective brains for some insight :)

I'm thinking about the possibility of moving to Reading or the surrounding area once I'm able to, and have zeroed in on Lower Caversham or Lower Earley. I'll be required to commute to London at least 3 days a week. Lower Caversham seems to be ideal for commute but Earley seem quieter/more peaceful.
I was hoping to get this sub's opinions about both. Also crime levels/racism. I've heard mixed things about both places so interested to hear from residents.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
