A list of puns related to "Los Alamos Ranch School"
I read somewhere that children of LANL employees may attend Los Alamos schools even if they don't live in LA. Does anyone know if this is true?

If you were in the car accident on Alamo Ranch Parkway and Westwood Loop about 30 minutes ago, PM me. I have footage of the accident from my dashcam. I stopped to make sure you were okay but wasn't sure if my camera was recording or not. It was.
This is a long and extremely interesting report on a US tactical nuclear weapons symposium, which answers a lot of questions I've seen asked here regarding US nuclear weapons use in the earlier and more nuke-happy part of the Cold War.
Included is a discussion of then-known Chinese and Soviet tactical nuke capabilities, a justification for procuring tactical nukes in the first place, lots of American theorizing about Soviet intentions and war plans, methods of preparing troops for nuclear attack... and quite a lot else. Much more than I can summarize in a set of paragraphs! The question-and-answer periods are particularly interesting, as they illuminate the thinking of many of the people who might've given orders to pull the trigger had war come.
Hello fellow redditors, this might be an odd question, but here goes nothing. Since I live in a country that has GPUs in very short and vastly overpriced supply I've spent the last year looking for ways to smuggle in a decent GPU at a reasonable price. Finally I might've found a way, it involves a wonderful and very helpful friend of my wife, who is currently doing her post doc in Los Alamos, New Mexico. She has a flight back home booked for the beginning of February and has agreed to fly me a GPU back with her (YaY).
However she doesn't know where to begin looking for one, and neither do I so here is where I need your assistance. How can one procure a 30 series (preferably a 3080) in Los Alamos, be it via online purchase or a store visit. The city seems very small so luck might have it they have a mysterious, hidden computer part store that hasn't been plucked clean yet. If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd be really grateful. If this is not the right place to ask, please forgive me.
As an afterthought, I know the inherit dangers of shipping imperfect, valuable hardware thousands of miles, I am ready to take the risk.
Hi, I am doing a history research project on how the government kept the Manhattan Project secret. What history resources do you recommend to find in-depth information about these? They can be online articles or books but not paid versions.
Hi all - my wife and I are considering moving to the Los Alamos area to work at the lab. We have a few questions we are trying to get answered to factor into the decision including:
We absolutely love the area, people, schools, nature, etc. and our dream is to live here. Just want to factor in all variables to ensure we are making a good decision.
Thanks everyone.
Hey ya'll! During the aftermath of the snow-pocalypse I baked almost 30 loaves of sandwich bread for my neighbors, and after much arm-twisting from them, I decided to open a cottage bakery out of my Alamo Ranch home! This week's menu is live on my website Spread the Loaves.
Each listing has the day it will be baked and ready for pickup in the title! Delivery within Alamo Ranch is available; if you'd like further delivery there may be a surcharge. Contact me here or on social media (@spreadtheloaves on ig, fb can be found here: Spread the Loaves) and let's chat.
We are in Santa Fe for a day want to know if the road to Taos is worth it instead. Have to go back to Abq today.
