A list of puns related to "Local Government In Sri Lanka"
I just saw a post here by another user who suffered discrimination by a hotel owner in Kany, where they were asked to cancel their booking as the hotel "only served foreigners". There was also a news report a few days ago highlighting the same situation in places like Unawatuna and Mirissa. Apparently, even some other South Asian tourists were impacted, not just locals.

While these hotel owners begged locals to come and stay with them during the last 2 years, their discriminatory practices have risen once again since foreign tourist arrivals have picked up.
It's just plain ugly. I'm not aware of any other country that does this other than possibly a few places in India. Most countries (even developing countries) actually treat their own guests better than foreign ones.
Usually, big hotels aren't the problem. It's mostly smaller establishments, especially the ones aimed at backpackers. Ironically, a lot of these places pictures of Bob Marley who preached universal love!
If such an incident happens:
Complain to the booking site with proof. Almost all booking sites such as AirBnB, Booking.com, Agoda, Expedia, etc. have a strict no discrimination policy, and they will delete the listing. As most of these places rely on these booking sites for business, it would be a big nail in their coffin.
Give fitting reviews on Tripadvisor, Facebook, and Google. Most foreigners themselves are very much against discrimination. Such a thing is pretty much unthinkable in the west! They will largely stay out of such places if they knew such mal-practices were happening.
Complain to the SLTDA. They have reiterated that they don't tolerate discrimination. If the hotel is listed, SLTDA would cancel their license.
If you have the time and money, complain to the human rights commission!
Doing research for an MBA project.
Few examples are sand mining, mineral mining, chemical importations, money exchangers, liquor store/production, pawn broker, micro finance, and more.
Iโve been going to each ministry website and trying to find it but this I a rather daunting way of doing it.
(Ps for clarification of the topic :- 1 crore =10million. ) First of all , I need to state that I'am totally against institutes like SAITM, problem is these people don't even let any sort of private uni with the required standards to be implemented , saying "upadi kada")People can't understand what free education was meant to be. It was the freedom for education, not that only education which is free must exist. According to many government uni students, private education will always mean they will be not as quality as the education they receive from Gov Uni, yet they are pretty much in 1001-1200 world rankings in medicine. They claim that there won't be a possibility of a good quality medical Colleges and will ruin free education. (Which won't even make sense) These people will cry out their lungs even if the unis were implemented by Government itself without a proper logic. With the current state of education in Sri Lanka, al bio students won't be able to get good marks enough to get into local unis if they won't be a human parrot and do the same set of past papers again and again. Not to mention , students from private schools won't be able to enter local unis if they haven't written the local ap exams. Many students would like to learn in Sri Lanka while being around with their loved ones including parents. But these jealous buggers have really abolished our right to learn in our own country.People with critical thinking and analytical skills won't be able to write their own answer as the answers they expect are meant to be written as they are in the resource books. How can someone with analytical skills be able to learn by heart? And as a result, many people who are just seeing this job aste schools won't be able to enter local unis an opportunity to overcome their poverty are the ones who come to the field, not the ones who are genuinely interested in studying medicine and serving patients. And as a result money minded doctors will be the only ones left in this country. Majority of the medical students' sole purpose of being a doctor is seeing this as a great money maker and the occupant being an honourable occupation in Sri Lanka.
Not to mention there are very low quality medical colleges which are being accepted by slmc. What about those students if the quality of education was the problem? Even they are costing more than a crore because of the increased usd rate. Whatever , what I can see is them feeling threatened by the influx of doc
