A list of puns related to "Local Autonomy Law"
Probably everyday this sub sees at least one post regarding "Help, my Economy is failing". If you look at this posts, often times it is because of low income, because the player has high local autonomy.
In this post, I want to adress this topic so that I can just reference to this post in the future if the same question comes up again.
If you have additional points to add, just post them in the comments. Also I'm happy about every discussion regarding my advice. We are all learning something new with every game we play and once you think you now everything, a new patch comes along and changes the mechanics again.
Your monthly income is usually determined by three factors:
If you are lucky enough to own a province that produces gold, then this can also be a major factor for your economy. War reparations and spoils of war (plundering) can also greatly impact your balance for a short time.
On the other side of the balance sheet are the expenditures. Largest factors in there are usually
The difference between your monthly income and your monthly expenditures result in your monthly balance - the money that is added each month to the treasury.
Most people that come here and ask for help have a negative monthly balance, even when they turned down their army maintenance. Most of the time they think that they have to reduce their expenditures (and sometimes that's correct), but most of the times, their income is a lot lower then what it should be for a country of that size.
And here comes the noob trap:
Local autonomy is a province modifier. You don't see it directly in your monthly balances, you don't see it in your stability overview. But there is a map mode for it. You can find it in the economic map modes.
The effects of local autonomy are very bad and you can see them all here in the wiki. Summarized, they reduce everything you get from the province like tax income, production income, manpower and force limit. The reductions are multiplicative and linearly scaling.
That means, at 100% local autonomy, you get nothing out of a province.
Okay, maybe not really nothing. It still costs you government capacity, but produces goods that get into the trade node and gives you 50% of its trade power. But thats it. No taxes. No
... keep reading on reddit β‘So, I was debating on the pro-birth subreddit and I saw a bunch of crazy arguments. Ranging from sex being only for reproduction, to women are meant to be mothers, and some frankly frightening beliefs I never knew existed. A particular argument stood out to me though, and basically I brought up a point on how rape and incest victims would be denied access to abortion, how anyone associated with the abortion could be sued. This person apparently thought Abott was this considerate man who thought of rape and incest victims, and I guess to them this law would only punish those stupid promiscuous women who deserved it. They said those victims had access to abortion, when disputed they said they had a 6 week timeframe to get an abortion which is more than enough time. Then their argument fell apart when I said it counts since the last period which gives women one to two weeks in reality. I guess I wondered, how could you support a law and not consider what it actually entails? They also didnt know anyone associated with it could be sued (ie Uber drivers) They painted this picture of Abott as some moral saviour who also considers rape and incest victims, not even thinking to watch interviews he did on the subject. There was one where a reporter literally asked why there were no exceptions for rape and incest victims and Abott defending that under his law. This makes me think that critical thinking is lacking for some supporters. I also had that same person say abortion was not healthcare or a medical service and kept spamming "which is it?? Primary Secondary or Quaternary??"
Another crazy thing that happened was after debating with another person just using science with basic logic they couldnt actually counter my points. They started to full on beg me and trying to get my sympathy..for a zygote. "You atleast support the heartbeat law right??" It was like they lost all composure. Then I stated my reason for not supporting the heartbeat law accompanied by a judge striking this law down calling it unconstitutional and they went silent.
There isnt much logic this movement is founded on so I think their little world where a zygote trumps a person is easily broken. When it is and all their arguments break down they just dont know how to function, either going on emotional rants or accusing you of being a baby killer. Im not even American but this movement is just so odd and intriguing to me.
I have some Asimov? memories.Basically each person is treated as an autonomus country - a supreme form of anarchy if you will. It made sense while I read the summary, at least.
Have some idea that it might have been a space setting, some colony?
Very many Americans presume that the USA is the epitome of federalism, and we are fond of touting (and exaggerating) the fact. I do not know if that is indeed the case. However, I don't know of any other developed nation that tops us when it comes to that.
Even the death penalty is a state-by-state affair, which is something that a lot of people are surprised to learn. (27 states out of 50 have capital punishment, for the record.) That aside, most of the whacky clickbaity shit you hear about us is happening at the state level. The world goes "WTF USA?" but we ourselves are going "WTF Texas?"
So my question is this: if your country was equally hyper-regionalistic at the state, region, provincial, county, or whatever-you-call-it level, what kind of hijinks might certain of your regions/provinces/counties/whatevers get up to? For example, what might Bavaria get up to if Berlin had much less power to stand in their way?
I went from ~+12 gpt to less than 3gpt immediately upon going from Catholic to Protestant, and it hasnβt recovered after converting all my provinces.
Trying to figure out why.

In the Hadiya case, wherein the daughter of an Atheist CPI supporter converted to Islam and married a PFI supporter / member, there was a sharp division in how the right and left viewed the case.
The right viewed it as a case of an extremist organization brain washing a woman and converting her to Islam.
The left viewed it as a case of a woman's freedom to marry an extremist and saw any nullification of the marriage as an act of stripping away the autonomy of the woman.
However, if we take this further, let us for example, take the case of ISIS brides who settled in Afghanistan from Kerala. They had married extremist men and thereby exercised their autonomy. They had committed no acts of terror in India, nor is there any record of the same being committed by them in Afghanistan.
I hate to say this, but according to the Supreme court, even if they are members of ISIS, there was a recent hearing where the SC clarified saying that merely being a member of a banned organization does not warrant any jail.
The cases of Hadiya and ISIS brides are very similar. Three women converting to Islam, their husbands in radical organisations, one being accused as a secret affiliate of ISIS, the other being an open one. However, the response of Liberal in these two cases are varied. While most Liberals support Hadiya and her Extremist Husband's right, most oppose the ISIS brides coming back to India.
How can this dichotomy on the part of Liberals be explained ? Secondly, since both the cases are similar, the state has a more even handed approach in being against the both of them.
I was playing as Castille but I noticed that my local autonomy keeps going up, last time I checked was in 100 every province, I tried to decrease it but no matter what I do it keeps increasing, what should I do?
