A list of puns related to "Little Carmine"
As is evident After finding out about A.J'S SUICIde attempt. He asks Tony if there is anything he can do. He then gets him a job as an assistant.
He offers and then comes through.
or did he get a pass because his father was the boss? I just don't see him being able to sucessfully pull off a hit, because its a known fact he's retarded.
Usually I can tell what this guy is trying to say (profane/propane, transpire/expire, etc) but these three have always stumped me. Anybody know what he meant by these?
I was touched on the part where little carmine was talking to Tony about his choice in life after his father's death. he first thought that his father's melancholy appearance in his dream is about him not being able to be the next boss of the family but actually, he then perceived that it is because his father knew he did not live a full life. I like the fact that his view in life is not to try to get richer but to be happy and live life to the fullest.
Besides the malapropism, what is the basis for everyone saying Little Carmine is so dumb?
Seems like he stays out of the weeds and enjoys the high life. The one time he tried to make a play, he gave up because he wasnβt ruthless enough. Heβs one of the few figures on the show in the business that seems genuinely horrified by the bloodshed. After that, he chilled out, produced Cleaver, and seemingly makes it out of all this alive and out of prison.
did little carmine know that people thought he was an idiot and didn't care or did he live his life thinking he was heavily respected? I feel like he must've known that people didn't take him seriously but just didn't care
How'd this subreddit get to this? TMSON rant, "Just finished the show for the first time" posts, we're in a fucking stagmire.
Since we did it for the Camel Nose fuck the other day, today is time for us to remember his co-executive producer on Cleaver, the hair apparent, Fucking Brainless the Second, Carmine Lupertazzi Jr.
Rewatching the series and Holy crap I never Ed realized the golden quotes of Little Carmine!!!
" The fundamental question is, will I be as effective as a boss like my dad was? And I will be, even more so? But until I am, it's going to be hard to verify that I think I'll be more effective."
I always had little Carmine pegged for someone who was well read in an environment that wasnβt, like someone who reads but mispronounces their vocabulary since they havenβt heard the words/phrases executed verbally. On top of that the guy was really respectful and well mannered; he in some ways had a sense of class where the other guys didnβt. Hereβs a few subtle examples:
-Heβs very considerate of Chrisβs recovery when they go to LA, offering to meet outside of the bar so the drinking doesnβt make him uncomfortable.
-Sticks up for JT when Sil intimidates him over what constitutes a slasher film.
-Holds no grudges against tony or Johnny after Rusty gets whacked.
-Offers name of psychiatrist for AJ, confides in Tony his daughter had anorexia.
-Realizes thereβs more to life than becoming boss.
On top of that, you never really see him have tantrums and get violent like the rest of the guys. Heβs always thinking forward and coming up with solutions. Very eccentric and clever, such an interesting character.
Not a real gangster, just coasting on name recognition until his daddy couldn't protect him anymore.
The sacred and the propane is a bridge too far.
Now hear me out, all of Little Carmineβs misspeak is so perfect and so fitting (pint of blood/gallon of gold, incidents have expired, allegorical, the alteration with Coco) - just perfect.
However, even Little Carmine, whom itβs well known, is retarded, knows what propane is. He knows itβs a gas used for cooking, heat, and whatnot.
This is one example of where the writers, I feel, were just like βhow much can we get away with?β βhow silly can we get?β
I donβt know, maybe Iβm a total stunad because, regardless, even as I type this, I still love the scene and the line, and itβs maybe even the one I quote the most.
Everyone in the show treated Lil Carmine as brainless the second who people only gave a shit about because of his father.
ironically it was only after that he decided to drop out of the war, which then made him look weak, that people started respecting him.
when tony asked him to take over as the NY boss, Carmine Jr was so smug. Because he knew even Tony thought he was a retard before yet now was begging him to take over the top spot.
Tony has no good response. He knew he was beaten.
My question to all of you is do you think he ever made his bones? This is to say do you think he ever popped his cherry in that regard? Or do you think he was like Bobby B and was able to mostly stay away from the violence/never had to kill anyone? Either way the guy always struck me as a bit of a poseur.
Starting all that shit with Johnny Sack, acting like he deserves money while he was living it up in Florida or whatever happened there.
In Stage 5 Tony has a conversation with Little Carmine after Doc Santoro moves to become boss. Tony encourages Little Carmine to become boss, but he declines. Before this takes place they both order food. Little Carmine orders a seared ahi with mixed greens and Tony orders a Philly cheesesteak. Carmine makes the "healthy" choices and Tony stays as boss, making the "unhealthy" choice.
Do you think it was mostly a power move or was he also motivated by revenge since most of the people involved held low opinions of him?
Even though the show doesn't explicitly mention this, he seems like the type of guy to not cheat on his wife, alongside Bobby and Sir Walter Raleigh.
Why didnβt he take the Boss position, after all he wouldβve gotten a Burger King crown
We established Little Carmine stressed and achieved happiness. Any other characters?.
Hesh- For the most part he had the financial and some other benefits of a mob member. He didn't have the stress and didn't have to prove anything . Most ofn the stress and mental anguish he didnt't have , being an ousider.
Be more like Carmine Jr and less like Tony
Iβve said my piece
Having watched this show and being gutted at how Chrissy has been treated in the end even though he's an asshole himself i got to remembering Little Carmines gesture towards Chrissy when they were going to meet Ben Kingsley. Dude wasn't even close friends with Chris but he had the human decency to recognize the addiction Chris is going through. Compare that with his piece of shit so called friends there are so many scenes throughout the show where Chris is battling through addiction and Tony is basically guzzling down alcohol right in front of him as if his mind cant comprehend that this is wrong.
I feel for Chrissy even though i shouldn't. That scene where they're all laughing at him gutted me. They didn't care about the struggles.
Scene with Tony crying at Melfi not understanding why Chris might despise him say it all about Tony. All i am to him is some asshole bully, he never asked himself why he was perceived in this way.
Might be reading it all wrong but this show teally crushes you in the end lol. Great show.
EDIT: Although i remember Paulie having the respect actually ordering him a club soda. Chris just fucked up wanting to get drunk.
This is a great little scene that illustrates the stark contrast between Tony and Carmine. Carmine is relaxed and polite and orders seared ahi tuna and mixed greens, a nutritious meal that will contribute to his longevity. He has a reason to eat healthy and think long-term because he has something that Tony will never have: Nicole's genuine love and support. She loves him so much that she wants him to quit before he ends up dead, even if it means giving up her lifestyle to drive around in a Hyundai, with a simple gold heart on a chain around her neck. Carmine will live.
Tony is the complete opposite. He is stressed and rude to both Carmine and the waitress and immediately orders the cheesesteak. Carmine's story about Nicole further emphasizes that Tony's marriage is a sham. He knows that Carmela merely tolerates him for the money and would gladly risk Tony's life to continue her lifestyle. Even if Tony were to consider leaving this Thing of Ours, Carmela would complain and bitch and fiddle with the air conditioner, while doing her best to talk him out of it. He self-medicates with greasy, artery-clogging comfort food because he is truly alone and has nothing to look forward to. Tony is doomed to live a short life.
Let me know what you think. Donβt forget to smash that upvote button. Everyone stay safe out there and take care of each other, and weβll see you again soon. Good night.
is his pronunciation of the word debacle. I only noticed it on like the 20th rewatch of that scene that also has βdid they resod that green?βAnybody else miss this one? (I never see it mentioned)
Little Carmine: Tony is on the precipice of an enormous crossroads!
Albert: Can you imagine that? Tony is on the precipice of an enormous crossroads.
I am reminded of Louis the Whateverβs Finance minister, The Something. He built the Chateau, Nicole and I saw it when we went to Paris; it even outshone Versailles, where the king lived. In the end, Louis clapped him in irons.
Because it's dumb in two ways. He probably means "implicit negative implications," which is already dumb because implications are always implicit by definition; the words have the same root. But then he can't even conjure up the word that sounds like "implications" and comes up with "inclement" instead.
The confidence and eloquence with which little Carmine displays his full tilt idiocy could be one of the best performances of the show.
βHistorically, historic changes have come by conflictβ
βThe fundamental question is, will I be as effective as a boss as him. Until I am it will be hard to verify that I think I am.β
Was there any one character that set more wheels in motion than Little Carmines? I feel like he was playing chess while Tone and everyone else was playing checkers. A true Tour De Force by Ray Abbruzzo.
He used all these big words. Sounding all gentlemen. I genuinely didn't know what he was talking about.
But during the rewatch, it was really funny. Because I figured out he didn't know what he was talking about either.
I don't think his dumbness was an act. It's common knowledge the guy's retarded. Still, he came out on top while everyone was going to the mattresses. He got to live in wealth, without all the downsides of the mob.
Maybe he just got lucky, or people couldn't bring themselves to shoot him because of his generosity giving away washing machines. His wife didn't want to be the wealthiest widow on Long Island either, so there's that as well.
Anyway, $4 a gold paper crown, like those at Burger King.
Do you think it was just a joke or do you think he actually did it once?
Top half is out of Miami Vice which makes sense as thatβs where he resides, but the bottom half looks like heβs ready to be a ranch hand. God awful western belt buckle bigger than his head, and the cowboy jeans to match. Aside from his ridiculous, clashing attire for the majority of his screen time, how about that vocabulary? I feel like every Italian, myself included, has a family member like Little Carmine that uses made up words, or words that exist but are used incorrectly to sound intelligent, but really come across as stupid as fuck. βBrainless the secondβ needs to go judge wet t-shirt contests.
Is there any technical diagnosis that would fit for someone speaking the way that Little Carmine does?
This guy is just the best dude ever. The only person who even considers Chrisβ sobriety and addiction by asking him if heβs okay with him going to the bar in California. He gives Tony the only sound advice I think Tony actually listens to in the entire series (My father and the empty box). He genuinely cares about AJ after the botched suicide attempt (fucken moron) asking him how heβs doing and gets him a job at his company outside of the mob. He realizes when heβs in too far with the mob and decides to get out and be more of a mediator. Heβll probably be the only guy to not die young, go to prison or be whacked. His wife is hot and he gets brought up dinner trays after having a scotch in the jacuzzi so thereβs that too. Heβs a Class act, easily my favorite character in the series.
In S3E3 - Fortunate Son where Carmine Sr. tells Tony there's no stigmata against seeing a psychiatrist these days, he follows it up saying his son was court ordered to see one "after that thing with his wife."
Was this ever addressed or can we only speculate fuckin' slander?
"The fundamental question is, will I be as effective as a boss like my dad was. And I will be. Even more so, but until I am... ^(it's gonna be hard to verify that I think I'll be more effective.)"
Imagine if Little Carmine and Bobby went off on their own and started a new family. What you never pondered that? The fundamental question is, will he be as effective as a boss like his dad was? And he will be, even more so? But until he is, it's going to be hard to verify that I think he'll be more effective.
