A list of puns related to "Litchfield, Connecticut"
This gentleman was born in Ireland, but got our family tree started in the United States (CT.). I cannot find info on him from Ireland. Here is the basic profile from Ancestry and Find Grave:
Michael C Quigley- Born in May 1838 in Culleen, Knockcroghery, Roscommon, Ireland. His parents in Ireland were Michael Quigley and Jane Campbell. He married Bridget Ryan in Connecticut. Bridget was born in Ireland in 1845. They had 7 children... Mary Ann, Jane, James, Michael, Ann (Annie), Catherine (Katie) and John. He passed away on 02 Mar 1902 in Litchfield, Litchfield, CT.
I want to confirm that he was born in Roscommon Ireland and also see where his father was from. Any tips?
I grew up in Litchfield County and have lived in a bunch of other places - New York and California among them. I give CT a lot of shit over the endless construction, left-hand exits, and stupid taxes (why am I paying $100/year on my POS $2000 car?).
However, I feel grateful in COVID times to be living here. Connecticut is among the best places in the country - high vax rate, low infection rate, people taking masks serious, a state goverment that actually cares about making people do the right thing. Instead of shitty online classes I can actually continue my 2nd degree with in-person classes, and feel safe, because most people are taking things seriously.
So again, thanks CT bros. I know there are some wackjobs out there but on the whole you are good folk.
Edit: lol what, gold? Ok, thanks. <3
Have you been paying attention to house redistricting? I know it might seem kind of dull if you're not a political junkie but theres a lot of interesting things to look at this redistricting cycle. A lot of the political youtubers are talking about the gerrymandering in Ohio, North Carolina, and Illinois, and that is quite frankly being talked to death, so I'm going to pick some more lesser known things to pay attention to
1.Balance of Power- Let's get the ones that are overplayed out of the way first. Currently Democrats hold a mere 3 seat working majority and 9 seats more than the Republicans. That is only 50.8% of the seats, unfortunately GOP gerrymandering has put the Democrats in huge danger in 2022, especially in a red wave year.
Heres what the current map looks like if your curious: (https://i.ibb.co/QfQSnZ3/us-house-deligations-by-party-nov-2021.jpg) Based off the current state of redistricting (not all states are finalized) I made a map what the house delegation will look like. I used the PVI ratings provided by FiveThirtyEight to assign the seats to either the GOP or Democrats, I left the ones classified as "tossup" (A PVI rating of between +5 Dem or +5 Rep) blank, also keep in mind that just because a seat is outside of the tossup zone and into one parties side doesn't mean the other can't win it, Maine's 2nd, for example currently has a PVI of +11 Republican and a Democrat, Jared Golden, representing it. Anyways with that caveat out of the way heres what th

It's set in southern New England, with a spooky, occult-ish bent (and yes, that includes spooky pancakes. Eventually). Is there anything truly supernatural going on? We shall see...
I'm aiming to get out one to two chapters a month, but given my work and family commitments, we'll see how that goes. Many thanks, as always, to u/bluefishcake for giving us the wonderful universe we've all come to love and play in. And now, without further ado, our story begins.

Splashes of early autumn color dotted the rolling hills and verdant valleys of Litchfield County, tucked snugly in former north-west Connecticut. Renamed as the Greater Connecticut District by the Shil'vati Imperium, it was a Rockwell-esque picture of classic New England scenery. Since there was really nothing of military significance in the area, it had escaped remarkably intact following the Imperiumβs initial invasion of Earth some years before.
Lacking much in the way of suburban sprawl, most of the region had been left alone, with none of the forced relocations to allow for re-wilding that were so common in more built-up areas on the east coast of North America. Local governments had been disbanded, of course, and replaced with Shilβvati-run authorities. But Human institutions had slowly been allowed more autonomy as the Shilβvati realized that the best way to keep the Humans happy was to give them some sense of agency and control. The Humans of the region were by and large peaceful, if insular and standoffish. The place was a Green Zone: a quiet, easy posting for any Imperial Marine, militia woman, or Interior Agent.
Barya Vorβavis hated it. It was already too cold for her liking, and it would only get colder in the next few weeks before autumn set in completely. Then it would be winter, and it would snow. The ground would be covered in the accursed white stuff for months, before the weather warmed up enough for it to start melting. Then the ground would be muddy for yet more months, until late spring at least; followed by a blessedly warm summer, which would last all of five minutes before it would be autumn again. Sheβd been stationed at the Interior District Office in the Human city of Torrington for the last two local years, and was well-acquainted with the regionβs weather. What she wasnβt acquainted with were any Human men to help keep her warm during the interminable winters, wh

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Hello fellow Connecticutians! (Or is it Nutmeggers?) I'm working on a project in which I'm seeking stories about Connecticut cryptids and could use your help. After contacting every existing historical society in the state, many communities either reported "None" or didn't respond to my request for information.
Do you have any cryptid stories specific to the communities listed below? If so, I'd like to hear from you!
