Le Mans Virtual Series returns as a five round premier endurance championship, including a 24-hour finale and a $250K prize fund.
The first four races in the Le Mans Virtual Series were held online between September and December, with the 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual taking place as the climax to the iconic endurance esports championship.
A glittering roster of drivers includes newly-crowned F1 world champion Max Verstappen, an Alpine Esports team captained by (non-driving) former F1 and FIA WEC world champion Fernando Alonso, plus 2021 IndyCar champion Alex Palou.
Among the entries are former CART and IMSA Sportscar champion and former F1 star Juan Pablo Montoya, racing alongside his son Sebastian Montoya in a Le Mans Virtual Series guest car, and IndyCarβs Felix Rosenqvist β a race winner already this season and championship title contender who will have Verstappen alongside him in the Team Redline entry.
Single-seater stars on the list comprise former Williams F1 young driver and Formula E star Oliver Rowland, Formula Eβs Sergio Sette Camara, Indy 500 racer Sage Karam, plus Bent Viscaal, Felipe Drugovich, Victor Martins as well as the W Series entry which features pro drivers Fabienne Wohlwend and Ayla Agren and their two female sim driver team-mates, Emily Jones and Lyobuv Ozeretskovskaya.
Also on the entry list from W Series is Beitske Visser who has, in 2021, started to make quite a name for herself in endurance racing. A feast of successful names from the FIA WEC, ELMS, IMSA and GT racing worldwide will be on the grid: 2020 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual winner Louis Deletraz together with his 2021 ELMS co-champion Yifei Ye, 2021 Petit Le Mans winner Gabriel Aubry, Job Van Uitert, Dani Juncadella, Arthur Rougier, WEC GTE Am champion Nicklas Nielsen, former DTM champion Bruno Spengler, Porsche specialists Matt Campbell and Ben Barker, and current British GT3 champion Dennis Lind.
While the focus may initially fall on the real world racing stars (listed as PRO on the entry list), internationally-renowned esports stars such as Joshua Rogers (2020 24H Virtual GTE winner), Kevin Siggy, Bono Huis, Atze Kerkhof, Michi Hoyer, Jernej Simoncic and Nikodem Wisniewski are just a few of the very tale
... keep reading on reddit β‘In a few months time, the 24 Hours of Le Mans will take place (imo, the greatest motor race in the world), and there's a few reasons why I'm excited for it. Firstly, it is the 2nd year of the new 'Hypercar' rules. After a rather... uneventful debut for the new cars last year, I'm hoping that the racing will have improved greatly in the 2nd season. This also means that we will be getting 2 'new' teams: ByKolles (maybe) and Peugeot. The latter are the team I will support, because I was always inspired by their battle with Audi from 2007-2011 (last time they were in Le Mans before this year).
Another reason why I'll be excited for it is because, if I do decide to watch the live race, it'll be the 2nd time I've watched the race live. The first time I watched it live was last year, and I loved it. Imo, Le Mans is one of those events that really shows what motorsport is about. The passion and support from fans, the will to win from every team, and the history are what makes it so unbelievably special.
To any motorsport or Le Mans fans out there, are you excited for this year's race?

Can someone take a roadcar to la Sarthe and expect it to finish the race? If not, what can be done to a normal car to make it endurance racing-proof?
Assuming I'm not going to be turning the air con off, and will be stopping for a Croque Monsieur and a Pastis every now and then. I think I probably would have been alright until they started using Circuit NΒ° 3* in 1932

Any way of knowing this? Very interested, I know alot of the top drivers in Iracing have logitech but surely not any g29s kicking about this event are there?
Until very recently when expecting heavy competition at La Sarthe, factory teams often entered a third or even fourth prototype in addition to the two full season entries as a kind of insurance against premature retirements that could cost them a potential win. This last occurred in 2017 and Toyota has not felt the need to do it again since Porsche ended their program, perhaps expecting that they would not have to push to the limit against the privateers theyβve faced since. So far neither Peugeot nor Ferrari have revealed anything beyond running two racecars each, even Cadillac which will operate a total of four in dual WEC and IMSA programs has yet to mention possibly bringing the US-based ones to Europe. There is great anticipation that over the following seasons these manufacturers will supply numerous experienced privateer squads that would in theory support their efforts, such as Oreca and Kolles have done before. However if intense battles like in the past with twenty or more cars vying for the lead become the norm, it is possible works teams could once again start fielding additional entries in their goal to achieve victory.
