A list of puns related to "Lewes Castle"
So I'm a fan of Nick Johnson's "Unboxing" series, where he talks about what it's like to live in a state. I thought it'd be fun to start a Reddit thread where we talked about what it's like to live here. Please feel free to add your thoughts! Note: These are just my opinions. If you think I'm wrong, please feel free to add your two cents! Also, as I am a resident of Bear, my opinions will be the strongest for northern Delaware...if you are from Slower Lower, please add your insights!
New Castle County- The smallest county yet most populated of the state. We are heavily influenced by Philadelphia and are often considered to be part of their Metropolitan area. Some of the significant areas include:
1.) Claymont- Former working class steel town. Currently trying to re-invent themselves now that the steel mill has shut down. They're building a big train station to try and get commuters to Philadelphia to live here.
2.) Wilmington- Delaware's only actual city. Has the crime and problems of a big city in certain areas, but also has nice areas like Trolley Square, the Riverfront, Wawaset, and Westover Hills. It was built on the back of the du Pont Company and was once called the "Chemical Capital of the World." More recently it's been known for banking and credit card corporations, which came to the area in the early 1980's after favorable laws were passed. They are currently really trying to convince yuppies to live here instead of in Philadelphia. Serious gentrification efforts are underway in the Market Street area. Largely the barriers to this is Wilmington's reputation for crime, as well as it's reputation for being boring. (Delaware is boring in general. You can't get a drink at a bar here after 1 a.m.!)
Wilmington is notable for being one of the cities in the United States that does not have a traditional high school in their borders. Wilmington High School was closed in the late 1990's, their campus taken over by Cab Calloway School of the Performing Arts and Charter School of Wilmington.
There's a lot that you can go on about when it comes to the educational system of Delaware, but let's conclude it by saying that people often send their kids to private schools and if they can't afford that, charter or magnet schools. If you're an 8th grade student in northern Del

This took me about a month to finish because I ended up reading the book twice, I needed the extra reread to let it all sink in.
Firstly, Rand bringing back Aviendha, Mat and Asmodean with Balefire by killing Rahvin was absolutely epic. I just loveee the way Balefire works, with Rand's liberal use of it I suspect he'll end up messing something up pretty badly with it at some point. But the idea you can bring someone back from the dead by obliterating the thing that killed them with Balefire has really interesting dangerous / applications.
I really hope Balefire gets explored more in future books, I'd really like more information on what is actually is.
Moiraine becoming a WWE champ was not something I expected - she was one of my favourite characters by this book and I'm sooooo sad she's gone, I guess from the moment she asked those people in the angreal her three questions she knew she was going to die. I'm still slightly confused as to why going into the angreal with Lanfear means both of them have died, could someone clarify?
Another interesting point is that Moraine told Rand not to trust any Aes Sedai, but has made it so Lan's bond will have altered to another after her death, does that then suggest that the bond will not pass to an Aes Sedai, or at least to one not raised to Aes Sedai. I would maybe suspect she has given the bond over to Egwene, but if that were the case she would have felt something surely? Maybe we have not met the character to whom he's been bonded.
My prediction is that her letter to Thom will explain the circumstances surrounding the death of his nephew, I think he was called Owen.
I'm wondering if Illyena also gets reborn as the wheel turns, Rand is tied to three women, so she could be Min or Aviendha or Elayne. Maybe she's Min, Rand always seems to think of her quite fondly even though they have never courted.
I'm still slightly confused as to why Aviendha ran off when Rand saw her naked, it's mentioned multiple times that she has no problem with nudity and some Maidens of the Spear even fight only veiled with no clothes at one point.
The powers that Egwene, Elayne, Nynaeve and Aviendha are developing almost perfectly compliment each other, they each excel in different ways of using Saidar. Elayne being able to figure out how to make angreals is a really interesting development, b

Edit: fuck up Grammar on the title..

... keep reading on reddit β‘The funeral director was asking us what we think Mum should wear in her casket.
Mum always loved to wear sarongs (fabric wraps that go around the torso and drape downward a bit like a long skirt would), so my uncle suggested that she wear a sarong in there.
The funeral director looked a bit confused, as did some of our family members, to which my uncle added:
"What's sarong with that?"
I started laughing like an idiot. He was proud of it too. The funeral director was rather shocked. We assured her, and our more proper relatives, that Mum would've absolutely loved the joke (which is very true).
His delivery was perfect. I'll never forget the risk he took. We sometimes recall the moment as a way help cushion the blows of the grieving process.
--Edit-- I appreciate the condolences. I'm doing well and the worst is behind me and my family. But thanks :)
--Edit-- Massive thanks for all the awards and kind words. And the puns! Love 'em.
I would have a daughter
But Bill kept the Windows
True story; it even happened last night. My 5-year-old son walks up behind me and out of the blue says, "hey."
I turn to him and say, "yeah, kiddo? What's up?"
He responds, "it's dead grass."
I'm really confused and trying to figure out what's wrong and what he wants from me. "What? There's dead grass? What's wrong with that?"
.
.
.
He says, totally straight-faced, "hay is dead grass," and runs off.
You officially hit rock bottom
No it doesn't.
And then you will all be sorry.
Now itβs syncing.
He replied, "Well, stop going to those places then!"
I will find you. You have my Word.
