Did he hold a personal grudge against Paulinus who commanded Legio XIV Gemina? Or maybe he expected the outnumbered Paulinus to lose and he thought he could establish himself as the main Roman leader in the region? Maybe even strike a deal with Boudica to rule as a petty king?
These are all just speculation on my part of course. Anyone know the real reason or the name of Legio II Augusta's commander?
