A list of puns related to "Larry D. Nichols"
This guy believes his sh*t smells good.
So I've been doing a bit of a dive into the KF back catalogue to get caught up on some older narratives and this episode (and the episodes leading up to this one) have caused me a great amount of dread for a couple reasons.
I think one of the main reasons is that in present day, Larry Nichols is dead. I know the first time the guys called Larry on the show (several episodes back from this point) I thought it was a funny bit because he had read his phone number out on Alex's show, but attempting to call him again (and having the Twitch chat call him as well) felt like a line being crossed and a fourth wall being broken. Make no mistake--Larry was a uniquely evil person and a liar and someone who deserved the sort of rigorous interrogation the guys gave him, but it felt very uncomfortable to listen to this dying old man squawk his way through an interview. Though he did seem to have no issue with it.
I'm not all the way through the interview, but I'm slightly put off by the tone as well I guess. Dan and Jordan seem to go from being cordial and jovial with Larry to almost backhanding him side comments. Again, I don't feel sympathy for Larry, but I wonder how hard it must be to balance the professionalism of having a "real interview" whilst simultaneously realizing that interview subject is a known liar. I also felt very awkward before the interview when Jordan said he hoped Larry died soon. Again, I know Jordan has a proclivity for saying things like that, but it feels weird to say that and then talk to the man later as if that hadn't happened.
Now, enough critiques of the guys, but on to Larry. What I'm amazed by is that Larry admits several times during this interview that he's not entirely sure he's telling the truth and he can't really put together which statements are true and which ones are false. I mean, that's incredible. I find myself believing some of the things Larry says and trusting his experiences in some regards, and then he'll turn around and say something that undercuts that immediately after. This was a man whose brain was clearly jumbled up and, like Alex, could not separate reality from fiction. Though I think Larry believes his own myth, he also knows that he's exaggerating. It's a strange trick that's unique to these right wing conspiracy theorists to hype up their own credibility that I find fascinating.
It's easy to forget how much of a bigot and a liar Larry was and how much harmful bullshit he injected into our discourse, but
... keep reading on reddit β‘Hi,
Have the Knowledge Fight guys done an episode where they give an in-depth backstory for Larry Nichols and Linda Thompson - the "Clinton kill-count" people - like they did for Steve Pieczenik and Leo Zagami? I listened to #45 where they explain that Nichols is a "Clinton insider" and I know they've phoned him, but I'm missing some context whenever they make the "call Larry Nichols" joke. They don't mention Thompson as much but she is referred to in the Bill Cooper Oklahoma Bombing episodes.
Thanks!
I became a listener in 2019, fell in love with the show, itβs my favorite ongoing podcast (even though Alex is in a weird place right now) the Project Camelot episodes are a delight! But god I didnβt realize they actually got Larry Nichols in the phone (ep 91), Iβve listened to the first half hour and man is it hard, I canβt explain why, itβs not cringe exactly, but i feel like if I listen to the whole episode at once itβs going to kill me, I can only listen to it in 10 minute chunks, it must be so hard to interview someone so full of dog shit, being on your tip-toes the entire time, knowing that casting any doubt will cause an explosion of overcompensating defensiveness but also wanting to question their ridiculous claims. Now back for round 4β¦
I love the show and the hosts but that's to me is too far. Larry was old, sick dude back than, living alone with his flip phone and a knife and Dan had no reason to harass him like that
The monday episode (#493) has me nostalgic for Larry's biggest swings (and misses). In your opinion(s), what are the best episode to revisit the life and lies of Nichols?

Larry D still does that 'pretty pretty good' once in a while but he has completely stopped doing that stare with suspicious music in the background that he used to do in earlier seasons. I just love those scenes specially when Larry ends them with saying 'Okay'.
... But I know there just isn't one.
Because who ELSE on this earth could it possibly be about?
WHO has been in Harry's life long enough for him to "write TOO MANY songs about"???
WHO did he fell for when he was SO young that he had to write "don't blame me for falling, I was just a little boy"????
WHO, out of Harry's exes is "trying to be friends" with him??
WHO else did he meet before performing, aka, with a "mouthful of toothpaste"??
What WOMAN would he ask "what if I'm out?"
what woman could possibly be "scared because I'm so open"????
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHH
bangs head against keyboard
I'm re-listening to some of the more interesting KF episodes, and can't seem to find the one where they interview Larry Nichols. Can anyone point me to it?
