This week, the boys head back to college to reinvent themselves with 2011's Larry Crowne! For some reason the tone and themes of that movie, aswell as it's feel-good nature, reminds me of a slice of life anime.
I just watched Sully and thought it was fantastic. I hope Tom Hanks and Aaron Eckhart are remembered come awards time.
After watching Sully I realized that Tom Hanks loves being in movies where the title revolves around his characters name. it is nothing big but I don't think another actor can match this amount of name titles. Turner & Hooch, Joe Versus the Volcano, Forrest Gump, Charlie Wilson's War, Larry Crowne, Captain Phillips and Sully.
Larry Crowne is a weird movie. There are no conflicts. When Hanks needs a moped he goes next door to his friend’s garage sale and buys a cheap moped. When he needs a job he goes to his friends diner. When he goes to school a guy picks his schedule in two minutes. The biggest stretch is that Larry Crowne immediately sells his house. Did I mention that Julia Roberts quits alcohol easily?
The film fluffily tackles unemployment, porn addiction, foreclosure, alcoholism, divorce, depression and dropping out of school.
Region 1 this week (15th November)
It seems to be a bit of a quiet release week this week. Is that a Pre-Black Friday thing? Quite a lot of releases I've never heard of.
There is Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and The Lion King on DVD but there were both already available in other HD formats.
Older films on Blu-ray include West Side Story: 50th Anniversary Edition and My Fair Lady.
While in concert we have Lady Gaga At Madison Square Garden, Britney Spears Live: The Femme Fatale Tour and The Rolling Stones: Some Girls - Live in Texas '78. - actually that's the week after, the Amazon list is showing multiple dates for some reason
There appears to be a new 25th anniversary edition of Evil Dead II. Do niyou77 or thinwhiteduke know anything about transfers, cuts or extras on this?

Some scenes with the young scooter gang chick were just plain off and not really fitting but I am very surprised I had such a good time watching it. I especially liked the ending, i.e. that it did not end on such a typical high note.
