Spare Parts Build: It doesn't look like much but I promised my ex's son I would get him something that can play Fallout 76. He has an old laptop that hardly handles New Vegas or Minecraft. It's not much but he'll love it. GTX 770, i7 6700, 16gb DDR4, 500gb SSD. Should be better than what he has.

Why no love for Intel Nuc X15 gaming laptop? Way better than zephyrus g15
I own one. Mine is ADATA branded. It has a 145 watt 3070 and 11800h. It's like zeohrysus g15 but better. Both slots upgradable (unlike g15), similar thin design (except without pumping hot air all over the screen).
It's WAYbetter than the zephyrus g15. The g15 GPU throttles down to 980 mhz running stress tests. This one never dips between 1850 mhz gpu and cpu on 4.3 ghz all core. Oh and the temps never exceed 83 degrees (gpu hotspot, gpu is 74 and cpu 72)

i'd love to buy myself latest macbook pro 16 m1" laptop, it excels in everything, not to mention battery life but only thing that drives me from it is gaming
It's so good, I just love the battery life, the performance is amazing, so well-optimized software with in-house hardware, trackpad, screen, build quality, speakers, and they even fixed ports issue from the latest generation... So I'd love a laptop closest to mac experience.
Personally, I think it's the best laptop on the planet right now and I'd go buy it right now if I could play games on it but unfortunately that's not the case.
I am going to travel a lot in the upcoming years and I won't be at home on my PC so I need a portable machine which can do everything I can do on my PC. Video editing, photo manipulation in Photoshop, Lightroom, Server management, and of course gaming.
I'd love a suggestion based on the stuff I wrote. Thanks.

Iβd love recommendations from everyone on my next laptop
So, Iβve decided to replace my dedicated linux laptop (a 2010 MacBook Pro) and as you can probably guess from that year, I havenβt had a finger on the pulse of the laptop market for a bit. So, without further ado, Iβll list some things Iβd like, and hopefully you guys can tell me what I should get.
Primary OS: Fedora, but unless Iβve lost all my tech skills, that shouldnβt matter too much
Secondary OS: Iβd like to give Redox, the rust one, a try. As well as maybe something linux gaming friendly, if youβve got any good recs for that
CPU: Something AMD with a boatload of cores
GPU: fancy AMD, you get the idea
Mobo: cpu socket, so I donβt have to mess with soldering like I did with the macbook
Ram: 32gb maybe even 64, DDR5, expandable
This last one is a lot to ask, but maybe mech switches on the keyboard ?
Budget: yes

I just wanted to say I love the legion laptop and how awesome Lenovo is!
I know its obvious that I come across as having a bias towards Lenovo but after having tried multiple gaming laptops from different companies, I really do believe that this is by far the best performing laptop I have ever come across.
I was pretty hesistant at first but someone on reddit really pushed me to getting it. After all, Lenovo is not what you typically associate with gaming.
I am glad I listened to the my reddit pal! No regrets what so ever.
Having owned the rtx2060 one for over 2 years, its still just as new as it was one day one. Plays all AAA titles seamlessly including guardians of the galaxy and halo infinite, which I am playing right now.
Fan is not that noisy compared to other gaming laptops.
Also, buying experience on lenovo.com is pretty cool too. They're always a deal going on, and for quality items, there is always someone in chat to immediately assist you or price match or offer additional coupon. I recently got a new mouse pad for $10 and its the best mouse pad I've ever received. The sales team personally follow ups with you after sale to make sure you are happy with your purchase. I just love this purchasing experience with Lenovo.
So just wanted to show my appreciation for Lenovo .
Maybe I will stick around with this one for another few years before upgrading to rtx3000 series ..but for now, I see no reason to upgrade.

Help me love this laptop (3060 and noise)
This laptop's screen is amazing and I want to keep this laptop so badly (return period ends in 2 weeks). I just can't stand the noise this thing makes. at 1920x1200 in Apex Legends, I'm getting ~160fps highs on "performance" mode, but it's about 50-55db and too loud. For comparison, my Razer Blade 15 Advanced has a 3070, and can push 240+fps at 2560x1440 and it barely goes over 40db. I want to sell the razer and keep this one for the screen, but I don't think I can take both the performance hit and the noise hit. Does anyone have any custom power plans, fan curves, or settings that cut down on the noise? I'm fine playing at 1920x1200, but I would like the noise to at least be somewhat similar to the Razer.
EDIT: Thanks for the great responses guys. I've found a few tips that might help with the fan noise. I set my turbo ratio multiplier to "30x" in intel XTU and that seemed to have cut down on fan noise a lot, and it hasn't seemed to dropped FPS at all in Apex Legends at least (I have the i9 model). I also set an undervolt of -75 in bios (might try for -80, but I doubt it will make any difference). I'm also using manual mode in the Armory Crate and messed around with fan curves and set the CPU to 30W for PL1, and 70W for PL, while maxing out the OC settings for the GPU (200/200 and 300/300). Doing all that has seemed to make it perform MUCH cooler and quieter, without much impact on gaming at all. I'll keep this post updated if anything changes or if I find a way to make it even quieter.

Are there any Windows based laptops with similar performance to the Macbook M1 max? I love the M1's hardware, but detest the macOS software (my experience with switching)
I've been a Windows user for most of my life (with only occasional use on my brother's), but I just got the new Macbook M1 due to my thoughts on ARM architecture being the future. My opinion: I absolutely love the performance on the M1. It's outstanding! I also love the battery life and Unix terminal. But I wish some of that budget went to software improvements. I use a ton of shortcuts and little-known features to make life easier and I've found MacOS to have lackluster functionality in terms of shortcuts which used to be so banal in Windows like Alt+Tab or simple swiping to the side to make multiple displays. I've even used third party ones like Spectacle, AltTab, etc. but nothing can recreate the ease of use of the Windows OS in my opinion. I'm so torn on what to do as I can still return my Macbook, but I need a new laptop and I don't think any Windows laptop can compete on performance. I wanted to love the M1, but I just can't fathom spending the rest of my life without some of these extremely basic things.
Has any other Windows user also switched to macOS and realized he or she prefers the Windows OS significantly insofar as they would even sacrifice some performance and battery life? What would you recommend for a Windows laptop you think is comparable in performance and battery life (even just half the time is good enough for me)? I do not do anything that's requires insane performance outside having up to 40 tabs open and also compiling rather large programs.
Some of my main issues:
- "Alt+Tab" is a joke on MacOS. I'm aware of Cmd+Tab and Cmd+~, but it's insane that after you minimize an app that it won't appear it this AltTab cache to go back to. I also hate the lack that you can't see previews of the apps like in windows. AltTab (a third party software) is buggy and doesn't even recognize some of the apps which makes me want to not use it at all. I use Alt+Tab probably more than any other shortcut so not having this is depressing. I'm aware about Mission control and virtual desktops (I think macOS calls these "workspaces"), but it's highly inefficient as it requires you to find the app and click on it or in the case of virtual desktops requires you to jump across potentially dozens of screens. Perhaps this seems insignificant, but this slows down my workflow tremendously.
- Windows management. How come I can't swipe up, to the left, or to the right with windows like in Windows to make half screen, full screen, etc. ? Please note that I
