Back when the "Scary Movie" series was owned by Dimension Films (Bob and Harvey Weinstein), the first few movies were released every other year. And, in between the films there has been bad business moves.
For example: The Weinsteins tried to pay the Wayans family less money than they deserved for "Scary Movie 3", resulting in their exit. The Weinsteins even tried to ask the Wayans family to return for "Scary Movie 5", but the Wayans declined. So instead, we ended up getting stuck with David Zucker and Pat Proft and the watered down PG-13 rating.
Another example of a bad business move: The Weinsteins decided "Scary Movie 5" was gonna be a reboot. According to Anna Faris in a 2011 interview, she said she wanted to return but no executive producer approached her. Three new writers were hired to write the script, and they sent out offers to Regina Hall, Anthony Anderson and Kevin Hart. But then the Weinsteins hired David Zucker and Pat Proft back to rewrite the script, while Malcolm D. Lee was hired to direct. And fans of the franchise learned that Anna Faris or Regina Hall were not returning. Neither were Anthony Anderson or Kevin Hart. A majority of audiences decided not to see the film. The first trailer had negative responses, but it was said the original cut (done before reshoots directed by David Zucker) had a really good response, and was gonna be rated R. But the reshoots were done at the last minute for PG-13. This resulted in negative reviews, and the film being a box office bomb. And the Blu-Ray and DVD only had 8 deleted scenes out of all the footage that was shot.
So this brings me to my ideas of how the next "Scary Movie" film should be properly made.

Anna Faris and Regina Hall MUST return. They should be paid properly as well. Anna Faris was the main character Cindy Campbell with her best friend Brenda Meeks played by Regina Hall in the first four movies. The fifth film failed without them. Their return to the franchise can draw audiences back in. They should NOT just be cameos.

The Wayans family need to be involved again, but if not, at least hire intelligent writers who are great at writing comedy films. But please, DO NOT hire David Zucker or Pat Proft.
