Is it what Lance Armstrong says true about blood doping, ECG, anabolics not being that helpful for cycling fitness compared to EPO?

I was listening to the Bryan Fogel interview and Lance Armstrong makes this claim about 19 minutes in. It’s weird because on doping I trust no one more than Lance Armstrong when it comes to experience and expertise. However there’s no one I trust less than Lance Armstrong when it comes to telling the truth even when it’s clear in this circumstance he’s got nothing to lose.

So according to him everything else can be ignored and all that’s necessary is injecting enough EPO to turn your blood into maple syrup for peak performance

ELI5: the Lance Armstrong Doping Case

OK, I get that the USADA has evidence supporting the accusation that Lance Armstrong . Why though did it take so long for them to gather the evidence against Armstrong? What exactly is he being accused of (I found the report very tough to parse through)? And is this scandal limited to Armstrong, or are other cyclists implicated in this as well?

If you ignore the doping, where would Lance Armstrong rank all-time?

Seven Tours, a World Championship, one classic and a few tune-up wins. Didn't bother to race in the Giro or Vuelta. There's also the huge line in his career pre and post-cancer in terms what type of racer he was. It's very weird that he decided to really compete once per year and ignore the rest of the calendar.

🚨︎ report
Lance Armstrong was unjustly made into a scapegoat for doping in cycling when just about every single guy in the sport did it... he is still the GOAT and deserves his medals back

Professional cyclists go to insane ends to win their races. Hundreds of miles in a single day through rainy, muddy, mountainous terrain, day in, day out, it's crazy. I have so much respect for these guys. It's almost not humanly possible to do these things drug-free. And it's common knowledge that pretty much all high level cyclists do/have done/used to do doping, the way bodybuilders always have done testosterone injections and steroids...

Lance Armstrong was a great man. He beat cancer. He beat the Tour de France SEVEN(!!!) times after beating said cancer. He lost his fucking BALLS and he still won it. So what if he used some drugs? Everyone did. I admire the shit out of that man no matter how doped up he was. He was the greatest cyclist of all times, and he always will be in my eyes.

They attacked this man, they targetted him for many years for 'cheating', when everyone else in the sport was doing it... not because he was so bad, but because he was winning and they couldn't deal with it. Hell a lot of his doping tests may have had skewed results because his body was still full of chemicals from the brutal cancer treatments he went through.

Was he a dick to people attacking him and his team? Probably. He was relentless against those who singled him out and attacked him... and in the end, they still got to him... they removed his medals, stripped him off his wins and gave them to cyclists ranked lower than him, cyclists we cannot be certain were any 'cleaner' than him.

They did Lance Armstrong wrong. They had those little yellow Armstrong bands before, "Live Strong!" it said and it was inspiring because that's one hell of a strong man. Everyone collectively threw those bands away when he was 'outed' it seems, but I always kept mine and I'll never throw it because he was, and always will be, the greatest.
