A list of puns related to "Lake Lock Rail Road"
First time poster, long-time lurker here.
This game happened a couple of years ago, but I thought it was a perfect thing to post up here. Itβs quite a long one so settle inβ¦
To set the stage β weβre a group of 5 friends who had been playing our own very βrules lightβ home-brewed fantasy tabletop game. Itβs essentially DnD but with a lot less stats and rules and a lot more βon the flyβ rulings made by whoever the DM is at the time. All five of us had a player characters and we rotated around who was the DM, generally running one-shots (but all set in the same βworldβ) β the DMβs character would almost always be absent for the session they were running.
Normally this hasnβt been a problem as the rest of us have always been pretty easy-going and generous when weβve been the DM, understanding that the people who are playing as their characters want to have fun, be creative and have freedom to do their own thing.
That is until one player in the group, who had been happy to just be a player for around 15 sessions, suddenly wanted to step-in and be the DM. That sounded great but his first game was full of utterly lethal situations in which our party constantly received an absolute beating and had to run for their lives from. Hmmβ¦ it wasnβt that much fun but it was his first attempt so maybe he just needed to get in the grove of things.
After a few other people had run sessions (which were all great) we circled back around to our βnewβ DM. He had cooked-up a big adventure which would last for two long sessions. We were cautious but wanted to see how things went and hoped for the best.
First of all, the player characters were;
- A heavily armoured Dwarf warrior
- A sneaky Elf thief who mostly used a bow
- A Human who was a martial artist monk-type (but without any magic β he was a melee fighter)
- An undead Skeleton warrior who was passable in a melee fight and also had some magical abilities (this is me)
The story starts with all our characters getting sucked through a time-portal and thrown forwards 10 years into a hellish post-apocalyptic future version of the city which we all tend to hang out in. Everything is wrecked - itβs full of monsters and roaming gangs of jerks while most of the city is in ruins. In order to get back home to our normal timeline we have to find four pieces of a Magical Item and reunite them.
Cool, sounds like a fun set-up we think! However, the new DM has decided that none of us have any of our usual weapons and equ

I am in the hunt for some vertical mounting rails for a 20 year old great lakes server cabinet. I was lucky enough to pick up the old cabinet from craigslist a few weeks ago and it is in need a some minor updates. The biggest issue is that this rack lacks a set of rear vertical mounting rails. I contacted the Manufacturer who was nice enough to share the technical diagram and permission to use the diagram to make a new the vertical mounting rail. They are unfortunately only capable of producing these 10 at a time, I cant say I blame them.
The Cabinet, from what I can tell it is from the Great Lakes Cabinet from GL or ES series, seems to have a custom paint job and made around 1995 to 2005. Its blue, and is in excellent condition for the homelab price I paid for it. Here are some photos of the rack for all of our homelab pleasure.
Any thoughts on how I can get my hands on mounting rails that will fit this cabinet? I am not above replacing the rails with something of a newer style, like cage nuts, that it if I can match both the front and the back.
