Picked up Burnout Paradise cheap? Hereβs what to do.
Itβs been mentioned in the sale thread and enough other times that itβs not always clear what youβre supposed to be doing right at the start, or what this game has to offer you. The game gives you the freedom to proceed however you want, scaling up difficulty as you complete events, making whatever you feel like doing a fine place to start or continue your journey. Hereβs a brief summary and some thoughts on most elements of one of my all time favorite games. If you just want to skim a few words of each section until something catches your interest, then jump straight into that, ignoring everything else, thatβs perfect. (Almost) every intersection is some kind of color coded event. Drive through them to discover them, then hold both triggers to start.
Stunt Run (green)- jumps, drifting, barrel rolls, horizontal e-brake spins off of ramps, super jumps, and smashing billboards all add to your score. The bigger stunts also add to a multiplier you can continue adding to while in a single combo. When you crash or take too long to do another stunt, the combo ends. This one is tougher if youβre brand new and driving around aimlessly. I think the road signs disappear when you start this mode as well. Knowing a few hotspots with straightforward, repeatable stunts makes these pretty easy. The South Bay bridge, at the western end of the southern most road, has several big jumps in a straight line, a few billboards, plenty to give you a solid footing as you get to know the map.
Road Rage (red)- Slam into the other cars on the road to get takedowns until you reach a target score. Other cars can take you down and after a set number of times based on the vehicle youβre driving, if you donβt repair by driving through an auto shop, itβs game over. Thereβs no set route; you just drive and cars spawn wherever you go. Use this flexibility to escape after a bad crash to avoid being a sitting duck trying to go a specific way. The secret to this mode is to go hard, laugh, and have fun. Takedowns are intuitive enough but after you do this a few times, youβll notice some soft spots that make you a ruthless killer. Then you get into the rhythm of things, you donβt notice a sharp turn coming up, and you fail spectacularly. Then a hot rod comes out of nowhere and demolishes you when youβre at your most vulnerable. Laugh at that too, and find a repair shop. It goes without saying, but tougher cars work well here.
Marked Man (yellow)- Like a race, you have to go from one place

Humans are Complicated, and Full of Surprises!
The first post was a hit so I am gonna continue with Shallaxdra's stories about her her human encounters. I am not gonna promise any regular posting schedule. Just gonna post what and when it occurs to me. I hope you enjoy this second round, and of course, comments and suggestions are welcome.
Shallaxdra Morningstar here with more on the wonders of humanity. These tales are my observations and memories from my evacuation adventure. Our trip to Earth on a repurposed passenger liner was comfortable enough. The scale of furnishings was a bit awkward for me since I am only the size of a ten year old human. The kitts just thought the oversized furniture made every room into an indoor playground.
I also learned that Humans are not all the gigantic creatures I had encountered back on Jendar. The women ranged from 1.4 metres to 1.7. The men from 1.7 to 1.9. So they were less scary than the soldiers, but just as determined to keep us safe. They happily answered any questions we had about life on Earth. This was going to be a learning experience for Human and Jendari alike.
Our arrival on Earth was amazing. The ship entered orbit above Earth and we all got to stand by the huge windows to get our first look at Earth. The wonder I felt when I first saw the blue and green planet defies description. I could feel the power of life in that planet, it pulsed with living energy. Even my twins were awed into silence, briefly. We were ferried to the planet in shuttlecraft since the liner can not fly in the atmosphere. Zoe and Shan were glued to the windows as much as they could be, and stared at the view screen when they had to be belted into their seats.
We landed in a city called Toronto on the shore of one of the ocean sized lakes. Our shuttlecraft was designed to land on water, so we landed in the harbour. This gave us a wonderful view of the city as we landed. We were amazed by the size of the buildings and the numbers of boats of various sizes bobbing on the water. We went from shuttle to a vehicle for land travel called a bus. It had huge windows and we spent the half our trip gazing in open mouthed awe at the wonders around us. Public art displays were everywhere; sculptures in myriad styles, murals on huge buildings, and buildings that were works of art themselves. We were told that this was a proud city tradition dating back almost a thousand years. We were high on wonder.
The refugee centre was in a school building that was not in use since it was su

SERIOUS: This subreddit needs to understand what a "dad joke" really means.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

My 2022 Reading Challenge Book List
For my 2022 reading challenge I have decided to read 1-3 books from every country in the world. This past year I attempted to do the same but the lack of preparation meant I was bogged down finding and waiting for books. Below is my reading list I have compiled as several people have mentioned they were interest.
Facts
It contains 520ish books with two countries I still need to find something for. 40% are female, 55% are male, and 5% are by various authors. There is a mixture of fiction and non-fiction. It includes everything from memoirs, cookbooks, histories, anthologies, legends, folkstories, poetry, plays, fantasy, romance, chick-lit, and scifi. The bulk is literary fiction.
Methodology
I started with the books I owned that I haven't read or wish to reread. I then looked through my TBR list on goodreads and reassigned those. From there I looked up my favorite authors on https://www.literature-map.com/, and included other authors similar to my favorites. From there I googled each country for their top 1-2 most popular authors. I finished with suggestions from reddit (including the country threads on r/books) and the amazing https://ayearofreadingtheworld.com/thelist/ . Authors with unlisted titles are because I was not able to find a copy of any book by the author at my library or for purchase (<7$) secondhand. These will need to be ILL and Iβll be deciding on the exact title when I apply for the loan.
Updates
I will be updating reviews of the books, as I go, on a subreddit I made for this called r/worldwidebooks . People are welcome to join me in the challenge for all of them, parts, or just to laugh.
List
Afghanistan
- Qais Akbar Omar, Fort of Nine Towers

Just because it's a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke
Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes
r/unclejokes for dirty jokes
r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC
r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes
Punchline !
Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub
Edit 2: don't touch the thermostat
