A list of puns related to "Khamba Thoibi Jagoi"
Can anyone help me find the TISS episode where Bawa tells us about the fuck-up with a new sound guy and how they lost the episode with Khamba because of that ?
Hello
I am a juggler and hobby juggling historian from Germany who has a great interest in the history of Cheirol Jagoi, Manipuri Stickdance or Devilstick as the same skill is called in Europe.
The skill consists of keeping one bigger stick in the air by hitting it with two smaller sticks. A video of this skill can be found here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZVyjJT98pk
I learned this as a young child and it has stayed my favourite toy since then so a few years ago i became really interested in the history and found that besides one mention of a similar game in china the earliest mentions come from two indian jugglers from madras by the name of Medua and Mooty Samme (which i have been told has probably originated from a real name like ?Mootaswamy?) who have been performing this skill in europe between 1820 and 1827. For some time i thought the skill has disappeared in india until a friend found alot of videos of the same skill beeing performed in modern india under the name of Manipuri Stick Dance or Cheirol Jagoi.
I have been trying to research this on my own as i would love to fill the gap between 1820 and today and also to highlight the role indian jugglers had in the development of modern juggling and paint an accurate picture of the indian juggling culture but my lack of knowledge about indian culture and history and me not speaking any relevant language for this makes it really hard to find anything.
So if you either are a practitioner of that skill or have knowledge of this being performed in the past, know other words used to describe that skill, or know another place where I could ask this question... any help would be truly appreciated.
What happened to Khamba ??
He and Tanmay used to be best friends ?? Right ?
