A list of puns related to "Kentucky Kingdom"
There was a HUSS RAINBOW ride at Kentucky Kingdom, until 2008.,anyone knows if it was scrapped?
Coaster trip 6/21/21-7/4/21
Our family loves roller coasters but weβre hardly experts. My wife and I have always enjoyed them but our 8 year old son became obsessed with them at around 4 years old - as soon as he could ride Big Thunder and Space Mountain at Disney - and since then weβve spent more time riding them than we had in our entire lives up to this point. He knows all the manufacturers and what rides are at what parks, even if we havenβt been to that many. Weβve had heavily-used passes at Magic Mountain the past few years and he likes to spend his birthday at Knotts every year. Weβve also made our way up to CAβs Great America and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. But thatβs about it. We doubled our coaster park count on this trip.
This was actually a trip to see family and friends scattered from Cleveland to Atlanta but we just managed to fit 5 parks in along the way. Some didnβt get their full due. Apologies if thatβs your park and we missed something awesome - we were in a hurry.
CEDAR POINT - Our first time at Cedar Point. Obviously the king. We didnβt get to everything. Valraven and Top Thrill sadly didnβt make the cut. We were dragging around a non-rider and lines were too long to get in everything we wanted even with Fast Lane Plus. That was the worst part of Cedar Point for me - spending an extra 100 per person and still facing 45 minute lines for top coasters.
Our son was gifted a brick in the ground for the 150 year celebration and it was impossible to find. They tell you what section and row but the rows are not marked so I had to triangulate his brick by looking up other people bricks around and seeing what their placement was.
Rougarou - Like Scream but with lovely scenery instead of concrete and old parking line paint.
Millennium Force (2x) - Iβve heard mixed things but we thought it was fantastic. Iβve heard it may be running better than it has in a while but it was fast, forceful and full of airtime. One element that never got outdone by any of the ensuing gigas or hypers was the scenery - looking out over the water really adds something to MF, besides just the elements of the ride itself.
Steel Vengeance (3x) * - This was our 4th RMC after Twisted Colossus, Joker and Railblazer and my kid and had been waiting for ages to ride it. He was still too short while it was being built and finally got tall enough right before covid hit, so we had to take on another year long wait. We got mid, front and back rides in. Mi

Recently, I was able to visit Kentucky Kingdom for the first time. As a bit of background, my home parks are Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Kings Dominion. I've also visited many other parks up and down the East Coast.
I'm currently spending the summer in Kentucky and thought I would make the best of it by going to some new parks like Kentucky Kingdom and Kings Island. I had been to Kings Island in the past so I just want to cover Kentucky Kingdom in this trip report. As referenced in the title, I am a bigger guy. I'm about 6ft and weight between 280-290 lbs. I carry a lot of weight in my thighs but my stomach isnt very big. I wear a size 42 pants. I was pretty worried about fitting on Storm Chaser since RMCs have notoriously unaccommodating restraints. But I was able to fit on everything. I'm gonna include some tips and trick for specific coasters.
The park was rather empty and everything was a station wait despite 1 train ops.
Roller Coasters
Lightning Run (x2): This is a fantastic little coaster. I know its been said before, but more of these should be built. The airtime is powerful and the bunny hops at the end destroyed my thighs. I rode once towards the middle of the train and at the end of the day I rode in the back. The back is much better for airtime. The coaster was also running much faster later in the day. As for fitting on the coaster, this one was close. I had no issue with the test seat out front. It gave me a green light without much effort. However, on the ride I needed a good shove by an employee. Don't accept the test seat as complete truth. It may screw you over! Solid 9/10 ride!
Storm Chaser (x6): This ride broke my heart at the beginning of the day. After my first ride on lighting run, I ran over to storm chaser. Did the test seat and got a green light. I was pumped since twisted timbers (my only other RMC credit) was a tight fit. I waited just for one train and was able to get locked in successfully with the help of an employee. Again, I needed a push despite getting a green light easily in the tester seat. We start heading out of the station and BAM. The train stops halfway out. Smoke then begins rising in front of me and the employees freak out. Then I got evacked and every supervisor and maintenance member of the park was there. I was devastated. I was so damn close! With the smoke and everything I thought there was no way the coaster would open the rest of the day. My guess is the smoke was caused by a one of the ti

6/12 Columbus Zoo
Sea Dragon (6/10) β Looks like a small family wooden coaster but definitely has some thrills. Back seat ride was more enjoyable than others in this size range. The only issue we had was my oldest son, 14, couldnβt fit in the last car, heβs about 6β2β. The ride op thought he could probably go alone in a seat in front but it was filled so he skipped it.
6/13 Kings Island (10/10) β it was a Sunday and operations were good, minus The Beast being down for the first half of the day. The park is laid out nicely with what looks to be plenty of room for expansion. Surprising for a park that already has a great collection of coasters. There were random food and drink stands closed but nothing major. My kids and I even commented that this may be the perfect home park, if we could choose one, as it feels more comfortable than CP. Also got to talk to Evan Ponstingle for a while and picked up a copy of his Kings Island book. My wife made him bring out the ID because she couldnβt believe that he wrote it, lol.
Diamondback x3 (10/10) β I am a sucker for B&M hyper coasters and this did not disappoint, I could ride it all day. Got 2 rides in the back and one in front, definitely enjoyed the floater in the back best. While I donβt feel it knocked off Mako for me, it was soooo close and thus still gets a 10/10!
Mystic Timbers x2 (9/10) β Did not go into this one expecting much but boy was I surprised. This thing is relentless from start to finish but less of the rattle like some of the older woodies. Got a ride in both front and back and definitely prefer the front. Not much more to say itβs just a great time and is probably amazing in any seat. Go for the ride, stay for the plot as my eldest son joked. It was probably his favorite ride of the park.
The Beast x2 (8/10) β Was definitely pumped for this one, both rides were in the back. It rattles, shakes and rumbles like any good wooden coaster should but keeps a smile on your face the whole time. The first drop into the tunnel is so much better than videos show and the front half is a great coaster. HOWEVER, then the second lift hill starts, you catch your breath for just long enough to enter the double helix in all itβs glory. Wh

Operations: 6/10 Sometimes they were slow, but usually they were releasing trains every 2 minutes. It didnβt really matter since the lines never got really long because the park wasnβt too crowded.
Layout: 5/10 I donβt think they were giving any park maps, which kind of sucked, and there werenβt too many maps on signs either. Also, there was literally a rode going through the park, splitting it in half. The water park also was annoying to pass through a lot, since it was in the middle of the park. Some of this is understandable though since the park is in the city and itβs small.
Food: 3/10
Classic overpriced theme park food, except this time the only thing besides the generic chicken tenders, pizza, and burgers are tacos.
Flat rides:
10/10
All the flat rides in this park were great and they had no shortage of them (7 big ones). I donβt know why people donβt like Larson super loops, I rode the one here 3 times and really liked it. The drop tower is great because you never know when itβs going to reach the top and instantly drop you. Cyclos terrified me more than most coasters can, that thing is intense.
Rides:
Thunder Run: 4/10
If this ride was smooth it could be as high as 8/10, but this ride really wants to throw you out of your seat (and not in the airtime way). Itβs a one and done.
Kentucky Flyer:
6.5/10
Itβs a family coaster, but an enjoyable one. It was smooth, and had some airtime. Also, that drop was steeper than I though it was going to be.
T3:
5/10
Ouch, my legs werenβt happy with me after this one. If the restraints didnβt absolutely kill your thighs, this ride would actually be good, and then the only big problem would be the occasional rough spots.
Lightning Run:
9/10
The airtime is strong with this one. I saw multiple objects fly out of the train on this ride, and even once when I was on. Both times I rode this I got something in my eye, please donβt bring anything on this ride. The last 3 hills were insane, especially the third one (Iβm not sure why). I think they couldβve done the highly banked turn better, as it felt a bit boring and didnβt do much.
Storm Chaser:
10/10
For me, the seatbelt hurt my waist because of how many times I flew up and hit it, but I did thankfully find a way to fix this problem on my last of 6 rides on this. The barrel roll down drop is absolutely insane with inverted ejector airtime. Both the front and back were great, but

Just my imagination? Or any theories?
