I was going through the list of 1970-2000 anime on MAL, and Natsu e no Tobira caught my attention. Usually I just put things on my plan to watch list and get to them later, but this movie I actually want to watch right now.
" Marion is a young schoolboy who prides himself on his adherence to a philosophy he calls "rationalism". Because of his disdain for emotional display, he ignores anything remotely akin to affection. But when he's entangled in a romantic affair with an older courtesan, his rationalism is revealed to be little more than a cover for his own emotional immaturity. Learning to love, Marion blossoms under his older lover's care but unfortunately, Marion has yet to learn the true price of the affair. "
It reminded me a bit of NieR Replicant video game.
Is there anything similar? Not necessarily romance or even "boy love", but just bishonen characters not being treated like kids.
Just found " Kaze to Ki no Uta Sanctus: Sei Naru Kana " looks really interesting, too!! Both list " Takemiya, Keiko " as original creator.

Greetings, everyone! I am here to gauge interest in a Rewatch of Yoshikazu Yasuhikoโs 80โs filmography, which will be detailed in a section below. This Rewatch would begin on May 1st and end on the 5th of June, with threads going up at 11:00pm UTC (7:00pm EDT | 4:00pm PDT) according to the schedule. If this proposal interests you, do share your interest in the comments!
Who is Yoshikazu Yasuhiko?
Yoshikazu Yasuhiko is an influential illustrator, key animator, manga artist, and director perhaps best known for being character designer and animation director on 1979โs Mobile Suit Gundam, and who possesses an inmence legacy spanning decades of work and countless creatives who he has inspired. Yasuhikoโs character designs, illustrations, and animation have proved enduring and seminal, inspiring many others japanese illustrators, animators, and character designers, such as Toshihiro Kawamoto (Cowboy Bebop, Wolfโs Rain, Towa no Quon), Yoji Shinkawa (Metal Gear Solid, Policenauts, Zone of the Enders), Hirotoshi Sano (Patlabor the Mobile Police, RahXephon, Tekkaman Blade), Takahashi Kumiko (City Hunter, Fafner, Scrapped Princess) and Haruhiko Mikimoto (Gunbuster, Macross, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress), among many others.
Yasuhiko picked up the role of director in the early 80s, a pursuit he would continue until the end of the decade when he decided to leave animation behind and become a full-time mangaka, not returning to animation in any significant degree until 2015 when he opted to adapt parts of his long-running manga Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin into an OAV series beginning in 2015. This Rewatch will cover solely the earlier 80s period of his for several reasons. Firstly, The Origin is not a good choice for standalone viewing. Secondly, it being a recent production, it lacks the same legacy and influence of his 80s output. And thirdly, Yasuhikoโs current effort within the anime industry has continued since The Origin, and as such it would be even less appropriate to lump it in with this retrospective Rewatch.

I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies ๐
It really does, I swear!

Pilot on me!!
Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
When I got home, they were still there.
What did 0 say to 8 ?
" Nice Belt "
So What did 3 say to 8 ?
" Hey, you two stop making out "
I won't be doing that today!

Me: Hi hungry, I'm dad.
She had no idea what was going on but I finally did it.
Thank you all for listening.
